Seeing Wang Jun walk in, the dissenting members of the River Bird Fleet all took a step back.
But the man leading them didn’t retreat. Instead, he replied, "We have no problem leaving the Aircraft Carrier Base, but it must give us what we’re owed!"
Wang Jun sneered, "I don’t owe you a thing. All my dealings were with Captain Nelson!"
"Fine. In that case, I’ll demand our rightful items from Nelson now. There’s no problem with that, is there!" the man retorted calmly.
"That’s enough, Anderson!" Nelson shouted. "The International Seed Bank was built by the state. It has nothing to do with you individuals!"
The leader, Anderson, shook his head. "You can’t put it like that. The state used our taxpayer money to build it, so a part of the International Seed Bank is ours!"
Wang Jun narrowed his eyes at him, killing intent welling up inside.
Anderson seemed to sense Wang Jun’s killing intent. He pointed to the person filming nearby. "Everything happening here is being livestreamed on the regional channel right now. I’m sure the Aircraft Carrier Base is a just and reasonable place. Captain Wang wouldn’t bully unarmed survivors like us, would he?"
’This is pure moral blackmail!’
Wang Jun had always considered population a vital resource. Even with the enhanced plants supplied by Peach Blossom Base, tasks like planting, harvesting, and processing still required manpower. For that reason, he wanted to attract as many survivors as possible.
’I could take out the camera crew in a flash, but it would become a black mark on the Aircraft Carrier Base’s record. Trading has only just opened up, and people might not trust the base that much yet. If I actually kill them, it could even affect our business!’
Just as they reached a stalemate, Ren Yuanyang suddenly sent Wang Jun a message.
"Give them the seeds from your seed bank and tell them to leave. As for Evolution Potions? No way. I’d like to see how they manage to survive after this!"
Wang Jun was taken aback for a moment when he read the message, but he quickly grasped Ren Yuanyang’s intent.
’They claimed they contributed to the seeds in the bank, right? Fine, then give the seeds back. That’ll shut them up.’
’Besides, Ren Yuanyang already has copies of all the seeds in the Aircraft Carrier Base’s bank. He has no use for them!’
’They won’t even have the chance to trade these seeds for Evolution Potions!’
’This also preserves the Aircraft Carrier Base’s reputation and makes it easier to strike deals with other survivors and fleets!’
He turned to Nelson and said, "Take a count. See how many people in your fleet agree with them."
Nelson hesitated, but Wang Jun pressed on, "Since you’ve joined the Aircraft Carrier Base, you need to weed out the dissenters in your crew. Consider this an opportunity to stop them from constantly causing trouble down the line!"
Nelson froze for a second, then nodded and immediately ordered Hansen, who stood nearby, to conduct the count.
The results came back quickly. Anderson had managed to persuade thirty percent of the crew to join his cause.
When he heard the result, Nelson’s face flushed with shame. He said to Wang Jun, "Captain, I’m truly sorry. I failed to manage my fleet."
Wang Jun shook his head slightly, then looked at Anderson and spoke directly into their livestream camera. "The Aircraft Carrier Base doesn’t bully the weak, nor do we force anyone to join. Since you have your objections, the three thousand of you may leave the Aircraft Carrier Base!"
Anderson grew excited when he saw that Wang Jun was actually willing to negotiate. He had been genuinely worried the Aircraft Carrier Base would simply attack!
’Dragon Country really is upright. This makes them much easier to manipulate!’ he thought to himself. Aloud, he said, "That’s not good enough. A portion of the seeds in that seed bank belongs to us. You can’t ignore that!"
Wang Jun shot him a look and replied, "Calculated by headcount, you make up thirty percent. The medicinal soups, food, and water we provided are worth ten percent. That leaves you with twenty percent. Any problem with that math?"
Anderson was stunned once again. He hadn’t expected things to be this easy!
Nelson frowned from the sidelines. "Captain, even if they do have a share, it can’t be that large!"
Wang Jun raised a hand, silencing him.
Meanwhile, the people watching the livestream on the regional channel were also buzzing with surprise.
"You’re kidding. Did Captain Wang actually agree to their demands? That’s way too soft."
"It’s not that he’s soft. It’s that right now, the Aircraft Carrier Base needs to maintain a positive public image. Otherwise, who would dare do business with them!"
"I think what Anderson and the others are asking for is perfectly reasonable. They did contribute to that seed bank, after all. Can’t they even make a legitimate request?"
"We at Xi’an Base give our full support to Anderson. If necessary, we can arrange a team to escort them from the Aircraft Carrier Base!"
The members of the River Bird Fleet who had sided with Anderson were overjoyed when they saw the message from Xi’an Base on the regional channel.
"This is great! With the support of Xi’an Base, plus the huge amount of Evolution Potions we’re going to get, life is bound to get better!"
"Yeah, Xi’an Base’s tech level is surely higher than the Aircraft Carrier Base’s. The quality of life there must be much better!"
"Our River Bird Country was an ally of the Sea Eagle Country to begin with. It’s absolutely the right call to side with them!"
As they were all buzzing with excitement, Anderson looked at Wang Jun and shook his head. "We’ve only been at the Aircraft Carrier Base for two days. We’ve hardly consumed any food or water!"
