"Captain Long, we’ve filled up a cargo ship and a supply ship over here. They’re both heading to the Dawn Base now. Be ready to receive them!"
Seeing Ren Yuanyang’s message, Long Zhan immediately replied, "Got it. I was just about to message you, actually!"
Long Zhan told Ren Yuanyang about the transport fleet’s encounter with the team from the Xi’an Base.
Ren Yuanyang was taken aback for a moment, then replied, "It seems the Xi’an Base still hasn’t given up. To think they’d change their ambush location!"
Long Zhan nodded. "Yeah. I just wonder if they’ll keep setting up ambushes after this failure."
"Let’s not worry too much about it. As long as we have our escort teams ready, we have nothing to fear, even if they lie in wait." Ren Yuanyang paused for a moment before replying, "We must remind the resource transport teams not to get careless."
"Don’t worry, I’ll remind them," Long Zhan promised.
When the team from the Xi’an Base saw that the Aircraft Carrier Base’s speedboats had stopped harassing them, they breathed a small sigh of relief.
They immediately began to report to Bao Mu.
"Sir, we ran into their speedboat fleet again. We didn’t see any of the large ships. The speedboats are too fast and agile. Our ship’s heavy weapons can’t hit them!" The captain’s tone was filled with helplessness. "We only have enough fuel to get back to base. Your orders...?"
Bao Mu’s brow furrowed. "Where in the world did those large ships from the Aircraft Carrier Base go?"
He couldn’t figure it out. The large ships had clearly left the Dawn Base, but it seemed they hadn’t returned to the Aircraft Carrier Base.
’Could they have a third base?’ Bao Mu wondered.
But tracking those large ships now would be difficult. Without satellite support, you can only follow what you can see. And they were low on fuel. They couldn’t just send the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to give chase!
"Head back for now," Bao Mu ordered.
The Xi’an Base had now managed to concentrate some inhibitors, and their effect on patients was quite significant. Therefore, his need for the herbs from the Aircraft Carrier Base wasn’t as desperate as before.
"Yes, sir!" The captain breathed another small sigh of relief. He had been worried Bao Mu would order them to continue lying in wait.
Bao Mu ended the call with the captain. The aide standing beside him asked, "Sir, are we going to continue arranging ambush teams in the future?"
Bao Mu shook his head slightly. "Not until we’ve solved the energy problem. No more ambush teams."
The aide thought for a moment, then suggested, "Even if we don’t send ambush teams, we could deploy some surveillance speedboats. That way, we can monitor the Aircraft Carrier Base’s movements. If an opportunity arises, we can still try to intercept their teams. After all, the speedboats are highly maneuverable."
Bao Mu nodded slightly. "Hm, we do need some surveillance speedboats. You handle the arrangements. Use electric ones."
"Understood!" the aide replied.
Their main vessel was a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, so they had no concerns about electricity in the short term. When the speedboats ran out of power, they could simply return to the base, recharge alongside the carrier, and then head out again.
Soon, three fully charged speedboats, loaded with supplies, sped off toward their designated positions.
The aide returned to the office, and Bao Mu asked again, "Is there any new progress on our Evolution Potion research?"
The aide froze for a second, then shook his head helplessly. "The lab’s energy has been largely consumed by the toxins and the virus. There’s been no new progress for now."
He paused briefly before continuing, "Besides, Hailan, who was in charge of the Evolution Potion experiments, was captured by the Aircraft Carrier Base. Even without the distraction of the toxins and the virus, it would be very difficult to make any new progress on the Evolution Potion."
Bao Mu’s face filled with anger. "Is she the only one who can do the research? Are the other researchers all idiots? Tell them to push the research forward! If they don’t have test subjects, tell them to experiment on themselves!"
The aide was stunned. He immediately tried to plead for the researchers, "Sir, we absolutely can’t do that! Our current researchers are extremely valuable. If we lose any more, I’m afraid our research won’t be able to continue at all!"
Previously, the entire group of researchers that Hailan had taken with her were captured by Long Zhan. That captured group was the main force behind the Evolution Potion research.
Because of this, the Xi’an Base’s research into the Evolution Potion had ground to a halt.
The personnel who had taken over the Evolution Potion research were currently studying the previous experiments and data from Hailan’s team before they could proceed with the next steps.
Hearing his aide’s words, Bao Mu frowned slightly and let out a long breath. "I can give them time, but not an infinite amount. Go and press them again."
"Yes, sir. I’ll go urge them to speed up their development right away," the aide replied before turning to leave.
Bao Mu rubbed his forehead, thinking, ’If we could develop a perfect Evolution Potion, it would basically be a cure for the virus.’
Just as Bao Mu was making his wish, back at the Peach Blossom Base, Tu Chong and the others who had been injected with the Evolution Potion a day earlier had successfully become Evolvers.
As if to demonstrate the efficacy of the base’s Evolution Potion to the other survivors, Tu Chong and his group showed off their new abilities as Evolvers right in front of everyone.
This time, they weren’t as lucky as before. Only one became an Intelligence-Type Evolver; the rest were all Strength-Type and Agile Type.
Ren Yuanyang even had Si Youqin explain the different types of Evolvers to the crowd.
"Evolvers are divided into Intelligence-Type, Strength-Type, and Agile Type. This is the classification system we’ve confirmed in collaboration with the Aircraft Carrier Base..."
