The system was simple and easy to understand. Hansen got it immediately after hearing the explanation.
"So that’s how it is. Alright, I understand. Let’s make the trade right away!"
Hansen and his men had their speedboat moored right next to the aircraft carrier, and the transaction went incredibly smoothly.
Wang Jun and his team received 75,000 seed packets, while Hansen obtained five Evolution Potions.
After completing the trade, Wang Jun had his men send over several barrels of fresh water for Hansen’s group. Hansen’s gratitude was written all over his face.
"The Evolution Potion takes twenty-four hours to take effect. If you inject it now, you’ll see the results by tomorrow!" Wang Jun said with a smile.
"Understood, thank you for the reminder, Captain Wang Jun!" Hansen replied. "We’ll prepare to inject them now!"
"Alright. If any issues come up, contact us immediately. Any of our soldiers can reach us," Wang Jun said as a final note.
"Okay, thank you!"
After Wang Jun left, Hansen immediately reported back to Nelson, the captain of the River Bird Fleet.
"The Aircraft Carrier Base doesn’t seem to be short on fresh water; they gave us a lot of it! According to Captain Wang Jun, they’ve had a breakthrough in water purification technology!"
Nelson nodded slightly. "Dragon Country’s technology should not be underestimated. What’s the status of the trade for the Evolution Potions?"
The River Bird Fleet didn’t have a large population. Their existing fresh water reserves and the purification equipment on board could last them a while longer. Compared to water, Nelson was more concerned about the Evolution Potions.
"They’re asking for twenty thousand seed packets for one Evolution Potion. They were completely firm on that price. I only managed to haggle it down to fifteen thousand by telling them a sob story!" Hansen said, sounding a bit helpless. "The Evolution Potion is a complete monopoly right now, so we don’t have any say in the pricing. Besides, these seeds aren’t really a necessity for the Aircraft Carrier Base at the moment."
Nelson frowned and sighed. "Fifteen thousand is acceptable. With the number of seeds we currently have, we can trade for about a hundred potions! I just wonder if the Aircraft Carrier Base wants anything else."
Clearly, one hundred Evolution Potions weren’t enough to satisfy Nelson; he wanted to buy more.
"We haven’t discussed that yet," Hansen replied. "Let’s wait until we can confirm there are no problems with their Evolution Potions, then we can talk to them again."
"I see. Have the Evolution Potions been used?" Nelson asked with concern.
"They’ve just been administered," Hansen confirmed with a nod. "I used one myself. No one is feeling anything so far. Everything seems normal."
"Good. Thank you for your hard work. Contact me immediately if anything comes up," Nelson instructed.
"Yes, Captain!"
After receiving the 75,000 seed packets, Wang Jun found that while some were duplicates of what they already possessed, nearly 50,000 were varieties not currently in the National Seed Bank.
He immediately sent a message to Ren Yuanyang: "Brother Yang, the negotiators from the River Bird Fleet came over. They traded 75,000 seed packets for five Evolution Potions. After we checked, about 50,000 of them are new varieties! I can arrange a team to deliver them to you anytime."
Ren Yuanyang was taken aback for a moment when he saw the message, then replied with a laugh, "Are you telling me the price just to make me jealous?"
"Well, we’re only able to do this business because we’re relying on the Peach Blossom Base. There’s no harm in telling you," Wang Jun replied, also laughing.
Ren Yuanyang shook his head slightly, thought for a moment, and replied, "Just hold on to them for now. Let’s make one big trade after you’ve acquired all the seeds from the River Bird Fleet."
"That works," Wang Jun agreed.
By now, Ren Yuanyang and his group had finally returned to the Peach Blossom Base. As the massive supply ship slowly docked at the edge of the Banyan Forest, Hua Lingfang and the others were left stunned.
"The Chief really managed to get a huge ship this time!" Hua Lingfang couldn’t help but exclaim.
The others around him nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, the people on the supply ship were equally shocked. They had never imagined that a forest could appear in the middle of the ocean.
Ren Yuanyang disembarked from the supply ship and gave his orders, "Si Youqin, arrange for three people to go aboard and guard the foreigners. The others don’t need a guard for now, but don’t let them off the ship yet."
"Yes, sir!" Si Youqin replied in a serious tone, then immediately led her people onto the supply ship.
Qin Haonan, who had piloted the supply ship back, said with immense excitement, "Chief, this ship is so steady!"
Even though this was a Seventh-level Wind Sea Region, the supply ship sailed quite smoothly, unlike the speedboats that bobbed up and down!
"This ship has a much larger tonnage, so it’s naturally much more stable than a speedboat," Ren Yuanyang nodded.
"It’s just a bit slow," Qin Haonan added with a hint of regret. "If it were as fast as a speedboat, it would be so much more comfortable to travel in."
Ren Yuanyang rolled his eyes. "You’re dreaming."
’When has anything ever been that perfect?’
Qin Haonan chuckled and replied, "It’s just that I’ve been following you for so long, I’ve started wanting the best of both worlds in everything. Just look at our crops—don’t they grow fast *and* produce a high yield?"
His words sparked a thought in Ren Yuanyang’s mind. ’Can I enhance things other than living organisms?’
[Not yet unlocked.]
Seeing the system prompt, Ren Yuanyang’s eyes lit up. ’Not yet unlocked... that means there’s a chance it will be in the future! Qin Haonan’s wish to have his cake and eat it too might actually come true!’
However, since the feature wasn’t unlocked, Ren Yuanyang didn’t say anything more about it and walked straight into the Banyan Forest.
"Elder Hua, what’s the status of the Banyan Forest’s expansion?" Ren Yuanyang asked as he walked.
"Progress is fairly smooth, but with only one yacht working on the expansion, it’s a bit slow," Hua Lingfang replied, walking beside him.
Ren Yuanyang had taken all four speedboats for this trading trip, leaving only a single yacht to expand the Banyan Forest, which was indeed slow.
Qin Haonan chimed in from the side, "Now that we’re back, the expansion speed of the Banyan Forest can increase dramatically! In addition to the original four, we now have six more speedboats. The speed will more than double!"
"Yes. Haonan, you arrange for people to focus all their efforts on expanding the Banyan Forest," Ren Yuanyang nodded.
"You got it! I’ll get right on it!"
With that, Qin Haonan dashed off.
He was more than happy to get the assignment—it meant he wouldn’t have to go back to his studies!
"Xin Wan, there’s a group of people on the supply ship that you need to go and register. There are also some foreigners; they’re prisoners and can only be used for manual labor for now. Get a count of them as well," Ren Yuanyang continued with his instructions.
"Understood," Xin Wan nodded.
As soon as they returned to the base’s office, Xin Wan grabbed a laptop and hurried toward the supply ship.
「It was only then that the Xi’an Base finally realized something was amiss.」
"Report! We lost contact with the supply team six hours ago!"
Bao Mu’s brow furrowed. "Was anything unusual detected before we lost contact?"
"Sir, there was nothing abnormal!"
"Then why are you only reporting it now?" Bao Mu asked, his face dark.
"Three hours ago, we tried to contact the supply ship but got no response. We made a note of it and assumed they just didn’t see the call..." The reporting soldier’s voice trailed off.
It was the middle of the night, a time when people tend to doze off, so the communications soldier naturally assumed the crew on the other end was asleep. He never expected that when he tried contacting the supply ship again, there would still be no answer. Only then did he realize something must have gone wrong.
"You assumed?" Bao Mu roared. "Drag him away and lock him up!"
"Sir, have mercy!" the soldier immediately began to beg.
Anyone who was locked up would become a test subject.
Bao Mu was not only ruthless toward people from other countries, but also toward his own men.
After the soldier was dragged away, Bao Mu fell into deep thought.
"Do you think it could have been the Dawn Base causing trouble?" Bao Mu asked suddenly.
An aide at his side frowned. "It’s possible, but I don’t think they have that kind of strength. Including the six Evolvers on the speedboats, there were a total of eleven Evolvers on this supply run. How powerful would the enemy have to be to prevent all eleven of them from even sending a single message?"
Bao Mu closed his eyes again in thought. After a moment, he spoke once more. "Could it be... the Peach Blossom Base?"
