"You must cooperate fully with the developers from Peach Blossom Base. If any of you dare to be arrogant and look down on them, you can get the hell out of the research institute!" Wang Jun warned them sternly.
These professionals from the Aircraft Carrier Base were all top experts in their respective fields, so they naturally had some pride. If Wang Jun hadn’t warned them so sternly, they might very well have ignored the developers from Peach Blossom Base.
Hearing Wang Jun’s words, one of them frowned slightly. "We’re one of the largest bases in the Dragon Country. It’s just a small place like Peach Blossom Base. Is all this really necessary?"
Wang Jun glanced at him and replied, "Both the modern Aircraft Carrier Base and Dawn Base rely on Peach Blossom Base to survive. Without them, we would already be facing food shortages. They’re the ones who provide us with massive amounts of food, not to mention that all the medicinal herbs we use for treatment come entirely from Peach Blossom Base. Understand?"
Upon hearing this, the professionals were all stunned for a moment before nodding solemnly.
They were prideful, but they weren’t idiots. They knew they had to show a basic level of respect for the Peach Blossom Base that was keeping them fed.
"I’ll create a developer group chat in a bit. You can all communicate in there," Wang Jun said as a final instruction.
"Yes, Captain!" everyone responded in unison.
Wang Jun received Aiti’s friend request. He immediately accepted it, then created a group chat and added him.
"I’ve given you admin privileges. You can add all the developers from your side!" Wang Jun pinged Aiti in the developer group chat.
"Thank you, Captain Wang, but on our side, I’m the only developer," Aiti replied.
"Only one?" Wang Jun’s eyes widened.
"Yes, for now, it really is just me," Aiti replied with absolute certainty.
Wang Jun finally understood why Ren Yuanyang had said Peach Blossom Base’s technology level was low. ’They only have a single person developing their software?’
"Even though it’s just me, the software development is almost complete!"
Seemingly worried that Wang Jun would underestimate him, Aiti quickly clarified his development progress.
"That fast?" Wang Jun was surprised.
"Normally, it would have been impossible to develop it this quickly, but after I became an Evolver, my programming skills improved by leaps and bounds," Aiti explained.
"I see!" Wang Jun said, suddenly understanding. "I hope we can work closely together and finish the software as soon as possible!"
Aiti nodded. "I’m sure it won’t take much longer."
"Looking forward to the good news!" Wang Jun said no more, leaving the group chat to the professionals.
Just then, Wang Jun suddenly received a message from Long Zhan.
"Old Wang, we’ve spotted a Sea Eagle Country aircraft carrier to the east of the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region, where Peach Blossom Base is located!"
"What? Just one?" Wang Jun asked, frowning.
Long Zhan nodded. "Just one carrier, but there are other ships with it. They’re stopped at the edge of the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region. I think they must be waiting for other carrier fleets to arrive."
"It looks like they’re planning to attack Peach Blossom Base," Wang Jun said grimly.
"Old Ji came to the same conclusion. Should we launch a preemptive strike and take this one out before the other carrier fleets arrive?" Long Zhan was spoiling for a fight.
Wang Jun considered this for a long moment before finally nodding. "You’re right. We can’t let them regroup. Let’s strike first."
"Good. I’ll get ready and head out immediately!" Long Zhan replied. "Should we tell Master?"
"Of course. The security of Peach Blossom Base is at stake!" Wang Jun replied instantly. "Just post it in the group chat."
"Got it!" Long Zhan immediately posted about the situation in the group chat, along with his own assessment.
When Ren Yuanyang saw the message, he also frowned slightly. "How did you spot them?" he asked.
"We have speedboats patrolling the entire perimeter of the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region," Long Zhan explained.
Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. "It’s a good thing you spotted them. If the Sea Eagle Country’s carrier fleets manage to assemble, we’ll be in big trouble."
"Yes, but don’t worry, Master. It’s just a single carrier fleet. I can definitely take them down!" Long Zhan said, brimming with confidence.
"I have no doubt about that, but you still need to be careful. Don’t be reckless. Just wear them down from a distance; don’t be afraid to fight a war of attrition," Ren Yuanyang cautioned.
"Understood! With your support, logistics are no problem at all!" Long Zhan said with a sly grin.
Just then, Ji Yizhi spoke up. "But I’m worried they won’t engage you head-on."
Hearing this, Long Zhan froze.
’If the Sea Eagle Country’s carrier fleet refuses to fight me head-on, there’s not much I can do to them!’
The Sea Eagle Country’s aircraft carriers are nuclear-powered. Their propulsion systems are more efficient, allowing them to reach higher speeds much faster. If they really chose to avoid battle, Long Zhan had no way to force them to stay.
Wang Jun nodded. "That’s very likely. They could just stall for time until their other carrier fleets arrive, and then we’d have a problem."
Everyone frowned, lost in thought.
Ren Yuanyang spoke with a smile. "Worrying about it now won’t stop them from coming. Let’s just focus on swatting this fly in front of us. If they really do send several carrier fleets our way, Peach Blossom Base can always relocate."
Wang Jun and the other two were taken aback for a moment, then they all nodded.
"Exactly!" Long Zhan said with a laugh. "There’s always a solution. If we can’t beat them, we can run!"
Ji Yizhi raised an eyebrow. "This is the first time I’ve ever heard you use the words ’can’t beat them.’"
Long Zhan was unfazed. "I only have one aircraft carrier. If they show up with three, there’s no way we can fight. A man has to know his own limits. I can’t gamble with the lives of our Warriors."
"Right. Old Long, deploy more speedboats to patrol the area. The moment you confirm other carrier fleets are approaching, notify Master’s side ahead of time," Wang Jun reminded him.
"Roger that. Old Ji has already dispatched another ten speedboats," Long Zhan replied.
"Everyone, stay safe. Report in immediately if anything happens," Ren Yuanyang said gravely.
"Yes, Master!"
After the call ended, Ren Yuanyang frowned. He had worked so hard to expand the Dragon Tree Forest this much; he couldn’t bear to just abandon it.
But the Sea Eagle Country had so many aircraft carriers. Once they assembled, it would be very difficult for Wang Jun and the others to hold them off.
’I have to increase my Mental Energy as quickly as possible,’ Ren Yuanyang thought.
Only by increasing his Mental Energy and unlocking Mechanical Enhancement could the Dragon Country’s aircraft carriers truly compete with those of the Sea Eagle Country.
With that thought, he set his phone aside and resumed his Cultivation.
To raise his Mental Energy as fast as possible, Ren Yuanyang had already instructed Xin Wan that from now on, every one of his meals would be the meat of that evolved giant octopus.
Fortunately, there were plenty of raw ingredients, and Xin Wan’s culinary skills were exquisite. She prepared the octopus meat differently for every meal, so he never got tired of it.
Long Zhan led his carrier fleet, immediately rushing toward the location where the speedboat had spotted the Sea Eagle Country aircraft carrier.
Naturally, the Sea Eagle Country carrier fleet also had speedboats patrolling the surrounding area.
The Liaoyuan aircraft carrier was spotted before it could even get close.
"General Mike, we’ve spotted an approaching carrier fleet. Based on its silhouette, we believe it’s the Dragon Country’s Liaoyuan!"
Mike was taken aback. "We only just arrived, and they’re here already? It seems Lord Bao Mu’s prediction was spot on."
"General, do we prepare for battle?"
Mike shook his head. "No. We withdraw immediately!"
"Withdraw?" The soldier beside him was incredulous. "They only have one aircraft carrier, and we’re supposed to retreat?"
Mike glanced at him. "You’re young, so it’s understandable you don’t know the combat prowess of the Dragon Country’s soldiers. Let me put it this way: to guarantee a victory, we’d need at least a three-to-one advantage."
"What?" The soldier was shocked. "Doesn’t that mean we can’t beat the Dragon Country at all right now?"
Due to the geomagnetic storm, their aircraft carriers had been damaged. They couldn’t muster nine carriers right now, and the Aircraft Carrier Base had three!
"Now? No, we’ve been unable to beat the Dragon Country for a long time," Mike said, shaking his head again. "If we could have beaten them, would we have allowed them to grow this strong?"
"Are the Dragon Country’s forces really that strong?" The soldier found it hard to believe.
Mike nodded slightly. "They are. Of course, while we can’t beat them, they can’t expect an easy victory against us, either. I’d say it’s about a 50/50 chance."
The soldier nodded.
Mike’s carrier fleet immediately began sailing away, showing no intention of lingering.
The Dawn Base team monitoring from the sidelines was dumbfounded to see the enemy fleet just turn and leave.
"Captain, reporting! The enemy is withdrawing!"
Upon receiving this report, Long Zhan was stunned as well.
