"If you want to know if it’s real, you can just get in the water and check for yourself!" Lin Mu said, walking toward one of the bamboo houses. "I’ll take this one."
Jianghu nodded. He walked to the edge of the Duckweed and stuck his hand straight down, feeling around in the water.
"There’s really no support!" Jianghu’s eyes widened. "The buoyancy this Duckweed has evolved is terrifying!"
Lin Mu glanced back at him and replied, "Peach Blossom Base has no reason to deceive us. You should go check out your own room first."
Jianghu nodded and got up, heading toward the other bamboo house.
The bamboo house wasn’t large, but it was fully equipped with all sorts of furniture and household goods. Most importantly, the water’s surface within the Banyan Forest was almost perfectly still, making it feel just like being on land.
Back on the Dawn Cruise, you could still feel a very slight rocking motion. Here, you couldn’t feel a thing.
Just as Lin Mu and Jianghu were marveling at the stable environment, someone called from outside, "You two, it’s time for breakfast! The Director sent me to take you to get food."
Lin Mu and Jianghu immediately picked up their bamboo bowls and went outside.
A young man was standing outside. Seeing Lin Mu emerge, he smiled a little shyly and introduced himself, "My name is Wang Feng. My main job is beekeeping!"
Lin Mu and Jianghu nodded, introduced themselves as well, and then the three of them headed east together.
"Wang Feng, can we eat as much as we want at this base?" Jianghu couldn’t help but ask.
Wang Feng was slightly taken aback, then smiled and nodded. "Yes, as long as you don’t waste it, you can eat as much as you want! Of course, you also have to do the work assigned to you."
Jianghu’s eyes lit up slightly as he pressed on, "Is there a lot of work?"
"I’m only in charge of beekeeping, so I’m pretty idle most of the time. I don’t really know about other people’s jobs. You could ask Sister Qin about it!" Wang Feng replied cautiously after a moment’s thought.
Jianghu nodded.
Beside them, Lin Mu spoke up quietly, "As long as we can eat our fill, a little more work is nothing. You have to realize that most people can’t even get enough to eat right now."
Jianghu paused for a moment, then nodded. "That’s true. I guess I was being a bit greedy."
As they spoke, they arrived at the eastern edge of the Banyan Forest, where a yacht was docked.
"This yacht looks kind of familiar," Jianghu said, his brow furrowed as if trying to remember where he had seen it before.
"This yacht was originally from Dawn Base, wasn’t it!" Lin Mu was also very surprised.
Wang Feng paused, then shook his head. "I don’t know about that. The Director didn’t tell me the yacht’s origin."
The three of them boarded the yacht. Si Youqin saw them and greeted them with a smile, "Good morning. Breakfast is ready!"
Wang Feng and the other two nodded slightly and went to the kitchen to get their food.
"Take a lot. I made a bit too much today, so we might not be able to finish it all," Si Youqin continued.
Wang Feng nodded, but Lin Mu and Jianghu were a little stunned.
At other bases, they’d split a single grain of rice in two. But here at Peach Blossom Base, there were actually leftovers.
Even though they had heard from Qin Haonan that Peach Blossom Base didn’t lack food, they were still surprised to hear Si Youqin say it so plainly.
"What if we take too much and there’s not enough for you?" Jianghu asked tentatively.
"It’s fine. Eating a little less won’t make us starve. Besides, we all have snacks and fruit on hand!" Si Youqin smiled slightly. "A lot of people on the yacht are even planning to go on a diet!"
Hearing this, Lin Mu’s mouth twitched. People at other bases couldn’t get enough to eat, yet members of Peach Blossom Base were actually trying to lose weight. It sounded too ridiculous.
Since Si Youqin said they weren’t afraid of going hungry, Jianghu didn’t hold back. He piled his two bamboo bowls, one large and one small, high with food.
The women on the yacht saw what Jianghu was doing and covered their mouths, giggling softly.
Looking at the state of the women on the yacht, Lin Mu felt more and more that Peach Blossom Base was a true paradise.
At other bases, these beautiful women would never receive such treatment. Most would have been reduced to being playthings!
But Si Youqin and the others were completely different. There was a light in their eyes!
After Lin Mu and the others got their food, they returned to their bamboo houses.
"This Peach Blossom Base really is great! They actually feed you until you’re full!" Jianghu said excitedly while rapidly devouring the breakfast in his bowl.
Lin Mu nodded. "Yeah. We have to establish a firm foothold in this base."
Jianghu nodded emphatically.
"No. To be precise, *I* need to establish a firm foothold in this base," Lin Mu said, shaking his head, his voice serious.
Now Jianghu was stunned. "Then what about me?"
The two of them had escaped from Dawn Base together and fought side-by-side. Jianghu knew his brain wasn’t as sharp as Lin Mu’s, so he was only responsible for doing the work, not for the thinking.
Lin Mu glanced at him and smiled. "You don’t need to worry at all. Your status as an Evolver is your greatest advantage!"
Jianghu was taken aback once again, then nodded. "I understand!"
"As long as you don’t cause trouble, your treatment definitely won’t be bad!" There was a hint of envy in Lin Mu’s words. "I just don’t know if the big leader of Peach Blossom Base has any use for me now!"
Although he was an expert in botany, Ren Yuanyang himself was a Wood-Type Evolver. It seemed they had no need for a botanical expert like him.
He had originally wanted to use his professional knowledge to cultivate the licorice, but to his surprise, Ren Yuanyang could handle it himself.
It seemed his professional knowledge offered no particular advantage at Peach Blossom Base.
"Didn’t that Director say he’d hand it over to you to cultivate after he was done processing it?" Jianghu asked, a little confused.
Lin Mu shook his head with a bitter smile. "Perhaps the Director was just looking for an excuse to refuse me."
