Ren Yuanyang discovered that any animal he strengthened could understand and obey his simple commands.
He had actually noticed this when strengthening plants. The strengthened bitter grass, for example, could move through the water in a specific direction on his command.
If plants could do it, then it went without saying that animals could too.
Small, agile animals with good eyesight like mice made for the best scouts!
Although they couldn’t perform complex tasks, they were more than sufficient for acting as an early warning system.
After a moment of contemplation, Ren Yuanyang decided to strengthen the white mice’s eyesight.
[Strengthening successful.]
[Evolutionary White Mouse: Earth-Type. All-around physical enhancement, strengthened vision, ability to identify people and objects...]
These white mice were all Evolutionary Forms, so strengthening them consumed more Mental Energy.
After strengthening nearly two hundred white mice at once, Ren Yuanyang felt completely drained again!
He rubbed his forehead to ease the dizzy spell, then opened all the iron cages holding the evolutionary white mice.
The white mice didn’t immediately run off. Instead, they remained obediently in place.
"From now on, you’ll patrol the perimeter of the Banyan Forest. If you see any strangers or unfamiliar boats approaching, come back and tell me at once," Ren Yuanyang commanded. "Ten of you will stay here with me to relay messages!"
Just then, Hua Lingfang walked in from outside and asked doubtfully, "Chief, who are you talking to?"
’There isn’t a third person in the lab!’
As he approached Ren Yuanyang, he was startled to see that the three iron cages holding the evolutionary white mice had all been opened!
He rushed forward to try and close the three iron cages, but the white mice inside were already bolting out!
Having already received Ren Yuanyang’s command, they naturally weren’t going to stay put.
Hua Lingfang immediately grabbed a nearby broom, preparing to stop the white mice.
Ren Yuanyang stopped him. "Don’t worry. I’m the one who let them out!"
Hua Lingfang’s face was full of doubt. "Chief, these are all evolutionary white mice! If you let them out like this, our base could have a mouse infestation!"
"Don’t worry, these white mice all listen to me. I let them out to patrol and ensure the safety of the base," Ren Yuanyang explained.
Hua Lingfang’s eyes widened. "What? You’re saying these white mice all listen to you?"
Ren Yuanyang knew Hua Lingfang didn’t believe him, so he turned to the ten remaining evolutionary white mice and said, "Line up in a row!"
The ten white mice, which had been huddled together, immediately formed a single row.
"Form a single file line!"
The white mice instantly changed formation into a column.
"Now make a circle!"
As Hua Lingfang stared, dumbfounded, the white mice actually formed a circle!
"Chief, how did you do that?"
Ren Yuanyang replied with a smile, "Maybe it’s because my Mental Energy is special. It lets me communicate with them!"
Hua Lingfang was utterly shocked. "That’s possible too?"
"In this world, anything is possible now!" Ren Yuanyang attributed the phenomenon to their bizarre new world.
Hua Lingfang nodded.
Just then, Ren Yuanyang’s phone rang. It was a voice call from Qin Haonan.
The moment he answered, Qin Haonan’s anxious voice came through. "Chief, bad news! It looks like the evolutionary white mice from the lab have escaped!"
"It’s fine. I let them out," Ren Yuanyang replied.
The swatting sounds on the other end stopped. Qin Haonan asked, completely bewildered, "You let them out? Why would you do that? They’re all Evolutionary Forms that evolved even before I did! There’s no way we can catch them!"
