Seeing Wang Jun’s question, Ren Yuanyang smiled slightly. He knew the man had taken an interest in the triple-fortified licorice soup.
’The evolution time is cut in half, and it’s painless. Who wouldn’t be interested in something so good?’
"The yield is low, so it’s not suitable for widespread distribution yet," Ren Yuanyang replied with a smile.
Wang Jun seemed to have expected this and nodded slightly. "I understand. Thank you for providing our base with so many Evolution Potions."
"No need for thanks. This is a trade," Ren Yuanyang said, pausing for a moment before continuing to type. "This transaction was a complete success. Should we discuss the next one?"
"Alright," Wang Jun agreed. "Will we be trading for seeds again?"
Ren Yuanyang smiled slightly. "It seems the Aircraft Carrier Base’s seed bank still has plenty of good things in it!"
Wang Jun was direct. "Our three carrier fleets don’t have that many seeds on hand, but we do have access to a National Seed Bank. We hadn’t touched it for our previous trades, not until this one."
"I understand. Thank you, Captain Wang, for opening up the seed bank." Ren Yuanyang completely understood their reasoning.
"Opening up the seed bank isn’t a decision I can make alone. It requires the unanimous agreement of all three captains," Wang Jun said, shaking his head.
"Understood. Please pass on my thanks," Ren Yuanyang continued. "Besides seeds, you must have quite a few animals, right? If possible, we’d like to get a few of each, including poultry and livestock."
Wang Jun was taken aback by Ren Yuanyang’s reply.
’It’s understandable that Peach Blossom Base wants poultry and livestock, but what do they need other animals for?’
’Have things not gotten bad enough? Are they really still after wild game?’
Wang Jun frowned slightly. "What do you want those animals for?"
Ren Yuanyang immediately understood what Wang Jun was thinking and replied with a smile, "Don’t worry, Captain Wang. We want the animals to build a complete ecosystem for our base, not for food. Of course, if their population grows too large, we will cull some of them."
Wang Jun paused for a second, then nodded. "I see. But animals take up a lot of space, and we don’t have many. We’ll need to figure out exactly which ones we can offer for trade."
"There’s no rush for that. Take your time to figure it out. But you should have plenty of poultry and livestock, right? We’d like several of each. We can trade one hundred Evolution Potions for each type of poultry or livestock," Ren Yuanyang replied.
Asking for ten seeds of each type before had almost no impact on the Aircraft Carrier Base.
But for every animal traded away, the Aircraft Carrier Base would lose a source of meat. While the impact wasn’t huge, it was certainly much greater than trading away seeds.
Plus, Ren Yuanyang had a good impression of the Aircraft Carrier Base, so he offered a more generous price.
Wang Jun was surprised to hear the price Ren Yuanyang proposed. Even though the poultry and livestock were more important to them, getting one hundred Evolution Potions for a single type was an absolute windfall!
Each type of poultry or livestock they provided meant another one hundred Evolvers.
"Then thank you, Brother Yang!" Wang Jun replied.
"Don’t mention it," Ren Yuanyang continued. "Actually, our base’s animal breeding techniques are quite advanced."
Wang Jun faltered for a moment before replying, "Alright, I understand."
He knew what Ren Yuanyang was implying, but he couldn’t possibly trade away all of the Aircraft Carrier Base’s assets at once.
Besides, he had no intention of turning everyone into an Evolver in the short term. That process had to be gradual.
After ending his chat with Ren Yuanyang, Wang Jun motioned to the nearby medical staff, indicating they could begin administering the Evolution Potions.
While the Evolution Potions were being administered, Wang Jun relayed the contents of his recent chat with Ren Yuanyang to Ji Yizhi and Long Zhan.
"Peach Blossom Base is being way too generous with us! One hundred Evolution Potions for a single type of animal?" Long Zhan’s eyes began to gleam.
"They have animal experts at their base, too?" Ji Yizhi asked in surprise. "Where on earth did they find such incredible zoologists and botanists?"
"Who knows!" Wang Jun shook his head. "All of Dragon Country’s more famous zoologists and botanists should be here at our base. Could he have recruited experts from overseas?"
"For now, that seems to be the only possibility," Ji Yizhi said, frowning as he nodded. "But I have a gut feeling that’s not it..."
"Since when do you start going with your gut?" Long Zhan asked, laughing heartily.
Ji Yizhi shot him a look and replied, "I’m not going with my gut. It’s simply an inference."
Long Zhan pursed his lips and continued, "Never mind where they found their experts. Let’s first discuss how many types of poultry and livestock we should offer for the Evolution Potions."
"If we were trying to maximize our gains, we’d only trade plant seeds for the Evolution Potions. The seeds have almost no impact on us. But Peach Blossom Base has already offered us a very favorable price and shown their sincerity. We can’t just be greedy and forget their goodwill. We have to offer up some poultry and livestock," Wang Jun said, stating his position first.
Long Zhan immediately gave him a thumbs-up. "I agree with Old Wang. What about you, Old Ji?"
"I told you, don’t call me Old Ji!" Ji Yizhi immediately corrected him. "I have no objections either."
"Alright, Old Ji," Long Zhan replied with a grin. "You guys are finally getting it. We should have been treating Peach Blossom Base like this all along!"
Wang Jun and Ji Yizhi both rolled their eyes.
Long Zhan took out his phone and made a voice call to his aide.
