Yu Ren and the others carefully noted the names of the department heads. These people could become their immediate superiors, and it would be embarrassing not to recognize them or to remember their names incorrectly!
After the introductions, Ren Yuanyang continued, "Next, I want to commend everyone in the base. If you all hadn’t worked together to fight off the mutated fish attack on our base, it might have been devastated. Every one of you has contributed! As your leader, I thank each and every one of you for your efforts!"
Hearing Ren Yuanyang’s words, Lin Mu, Si Youqin, and the others were overjoyed. ’It feels so good to be acknowledged by the leader!’
"In our base, contributions will always be rewarded!" Ren Yuanyang announced. "Tonight, we will hold a celebratory feast to honor your successful defense against the mutated fish attack. Also, you can get your own cell phones back. For those who don’t have one, you can pick any phone from the ones we salvaged!"
During the last surge, Ren Yuanyang and his people had salvaged a lot of supplies, including many cell phones.
Hearing this news, Lin Mu and the others erupted with excitement!
’Ever since entering Peach Blossom Base, our phones had been confiscated. After yesterday’s battle, the leader is finally willing to trust us!’
While Ren Yuanyang was away, they had defended the base so steadfastly. Although it wasn’t as if they had any other choice, Xin Wan had been watching the entire time. Everyone had given their all to protect Peach Blossom Base, and that level of effort was enough to earn Ren Yuanyang’s trust.
"Everyone, line up and get your phones!" Lu Jiamei said, bringing out a box. "But I must remind you all again: leaking any information about the base, especially its location, is strictly forbidden. I don’t need to spell out the consequences if that happens, do I?"
"We understand!" Lin Mu and the others replied in unison.
"To ensure our base’s security, I suggest that everyone enables screen recording when using that location software. All recordings should be uploaded to our Peach Blossom Base group chat!" Si Youqin suggested.
"That’s right, we should do that!" The people who had originally been on the yacht readily agreed.
They cherished the hard-won life they had now and never wanted to return to their former, Purgatory-like existence, being used as an outlet for other survivors’ frustrations.
Ren Yuanyang had originally planned to have Aiti install some trojan software on everyone’s phones to monitor information security. But since they had proposed a solution themselves, Ren Yuanyang naturally went with the flow. "Yes, that’s a good idea. It will improve our base’s information security as well. Any objections from anyone else?"
"None!" everyone replied in unison.
"Then let’s proceed with that for now. When you use that particular software, enable screen recording and send the file directly to our base group chat when you’re finished," Ren Yuanyang continued. "Aiti, you will be in charge of reviewing the recordings."
Aiti was stunned for a moment to be mentioned so suddenly by Ren Yuanyang, but quickly replied, "Yes!"
Yu Ren and his group watched with envy as Lin Mu and the others collected their phones.
The nine of them had only just arrived at Peach Blossom Base and hadn’t earned nearly enough trust yet, so there was no way they would be given phones.
After Lin Mu’s group had all received their phones, Ren Yuanyang spoke up. "Those of you without phones, don’t envy them. As long as you settle in and work hard at Peach Blossom Base, you will have your own phones sooner or later."
Yu Ren and the others nodded.
"Even without phones, you won’t be cut off from outside information," Ren Yuanyang continued. "If there’s any important news, we’ll announce it throughout the base!"
"Thank you, Leader!" Yu Ren’s group replied in unison.
Ren Yuanyang waved his hand. "Next, your work assignments."
"Yu Ren, you’re assigned to the Evolution Institute and will report directly to me. For now, you’ll be responsible for base security, and Lu Jiamei will arrange your daily tasks," Ren Yuanyang began assigning roles. "Tu Chong and the two with him are assigned to the Logistics Department, managed by Xin Wan who will also arrange your work. Of the remaining five, three will go to the breeding farm, and two will report to Si Youqin for production work."
"Yes!"
"Lin Mu, the planting space needs to be expanded. You can find some people to help you. Si Youqin, you will assist," Ren Yuanyang continued to command.
"Yes!" Lin Mu and Si Youqin replied in unison.
But Lin Mu quickly frowned. "Leader, the space inside the banyan trees doesn’t seem big enough. If we expand the planting area, we might end up hollowing out the entire Banyan Forest!"
"The Banyan Forest is going to keep expanding," Ren Yuanyang replied.
Hearing this, Lin Mu’s eyes lit up. "Alright, I understand."
"This afternoon, everyone without urgent tasks is to help build bamboo houses," Ren Yuanyang said in closing. "Alright, meeting adjourned. If you have any issues, report them to your direct supervisor. If that doesn’t resolve it, you can come directly to me."
"Yes!" everyone replied in unison.
After Ren Yuanyang left, Lin Mu walked over to Yu Ren and the others.
"Come on, let’s go build your bamboo houses!" Lin Mu called out with a smile. He had just gotten his phone back and was in high spirits.
Only then did it dawn on Yu Ren that the bamboo houses Ren Yuanyang had mentioned were for them!
"Alright, thank you!" Yu Ren said, cupping his fist.
"No need to be so formal, we’re going to be neighbors!" Lin Mu said, waving a hand. "Let’s go. We’ll get the houses built first, there’ll be plenty of time to talk later!"
