"Where is the Evolution Potion?" Bao Mu strode up to the team that had gone to make the trade and asked, his words coming quickly.
"Sir, here it is!" The captain in charge of the trade immediately took out a small box and held it up to Bao Mu.
The aide at his side immediately stepped forward and opened the box. Three syringes lay quietly inside.
"Is this the perfect Evolution Potion?" Bao Mu was actually a little skeptical.
The trade captain nodded. "We have video recordings of the entire transaction, and we also filmed the Aircraft Carrier Base’s promise!"
Bao Mu nodded slightly. "Well done. Take it to the lab immediately. I’d like to see the effects of this Evolution Potion for myself!"
"Yes, sir!" the captain replied in a low voice, then headed for the lab with the three Evolution Potions.
Bao Mu and the others followed right behind him.
"Sir, we only managed to trade for three Evolution Potions this time. The lab will definitely want to study them. How should we allocate them?" the aide asked in a low voice on the way to the lab.
Bao Mu thought for a moment before replying, "We’ll use at least one for testing. Give the other two to William and let them study them."
The aide nodded slightly and said no more.
When the group arrived at the laboratory, William, who had also received the news, came up to greet them.
"Sir, you’re here!" William said in greeting.
"Yes. I had to come see the Aircraft Carrier Base’s perfect Evolution Potion for myself," Bao Mu nodded in response.
Without any pleasantries, William immediately took the Evolution Potions from the trade captain’s hands.
"Sir, my idea was to use all three Evolution Potions for research. Would that be acceptable?" William asked.
Bao Mu shook his head. "Use one of them on yourself. The other two, you can do with as you please."
William was completely stunned. He never thought he would end up being a guinea pig.
"Sir, we have plenty of other test subjects at the base. Could we use one of them for the experiment?"
Although he knew the chances were slim, William still tried to argue his way out of being the test subject.
Bao Mu glanced at him. "Since this is supposedly a perfect Evolution Potion, wouldn’t it be a waste to use it on those test subjects? If you become an Evolver, your research will become easier. Plus, by taking it yourself, you can better verify the potion’s effects!"
"But—"
William tried to say more, but Bao Mu cut him off. "What, are you unwilling?"
Seeing Bao Mu’s cold, stern expression, William immediately shook his head. "I’m willing!"
He knew he probably wouldn’t survive if he refused again.
’The Aircraft Carrier Base’s Evolution Potion might be risky, but at least it offers a chance of survival!’
"Good. Work hard. The position of laboratory director has been vacant since Hailan left. I have high hopes for you," Bao Mu said, dangling a carrot.
"Thank you for your favor, Sir! I will redouble my efforts!" William immediately replied.
Now that the matter was settled, William no longer hesitated. He took out one of the Evolution Potions and injected it directly into his body.
After the injection, he monitored his body with extreme nervousness, worried he would drop dead the next moment.
The special substance that triggered evolution was extremely potent; the average human body couldn’t withstand its effects.
If the substance’s potency wasn’t handled properly, a test subject injected with the Evolution Potion would die quickly.
He waited for a full half-hour but felt no discomfort whatsoever.
’Is the Aircraft Carrier Base’s Evolution Potion really this perfect? Or was that syringe not even filled with the Evolution Potion at all? Maybe it’s just saline solution.’
Bao Mu had been waiting there the whole time, observing William’s condition. Seeing no reaction, he finally asked, "How do you feel?"
William shook his head. "I don’t feel anything. It’s like I never injected—"
He stopped mid-sentence, his brow suddenly furrowing. "Now I feel something. A slight pain and discomfort."
The aide at his side spoke up. "The Aircraft Carrier Base did mention beforehand that people who inject the Evolution Potion will indeed experience some discomfort, but that it’s tolerable for a normal person."
William nodded. "It is tolerable, yes. But I still need to test whether their Evolution Potion contains the special substance that triggers evolution. I also need to test a sample on lab mice."
Bao Mu nodded slightly. "Hn. Then begin as soon as possible."
William immediately handed the two remaining Evolution Potions to other members of the lab, instructing them to perform the corresponding tests.
One was for component analysis, and the other was to be used on the lab mice.
It had to be said, the equipment at the Xi’an Base was quite advanced. In just one hour, they had more or less completely analyzed the components of the Aircraft Carrier Base’s Evolution Potion.
Seeing the analysis results, William’s eyes widened. "It actually contains such a high concentration of the special substance! How did I not drop dead after injecting it?"
Bao Mu, who had been resting with his eyes closed, opened them. "What are the test results?"
"The Aircraft Carrier Base’s Evolution Potion does indeed contain the special substance that triggers evolution, and the concentration isn’t low!" William reported in a low voice. "For me to have such a minor reaction after injecting such a high concentration... this Evolution Potion is truly perfect!"
Bao Mu narrowed his eyes and continued to ask, "Besides this special substance, did you detect anything else?"
William replied, "Yes. There’s also a substance extracted from licorice."
"Herbs again?" Bao Mu sounded surprised.
"I believe the Peach Blossom Base was buying up licorice at one point," the aide suddenly said.
