Chapter 938: Who Are You
Garfield’s eyes hid boundless viciousness and hatred. During this period of time, he almost completely lost the most important function of a male, and he was finally aware of Samuel’s secret means. The terrifying thing was that the wound was incurable, and the people he sent to the Thunder Prison for revenge were unexpectedly blocked by the red dragon guard.
Although Garfield was the second prince, he still didn’t dare to offend the dragons of the Dragon Valley. Besides, the cause of this incident was that he tried to act inappropriately toward Veronica. It was a big scandal, so it naturally could not be made public.
A man, being deprived of that ability, it was simply a great shame and hatred! So he not only wanted to let Samuel die tragically, but he also wanted to drag down the entire Kemplot Family!
This time, Chief Bishop Wintour nodded without hesitation. The church’s attitude toward those suspected of the Black Death Followers was very clear. They would rather kill 1,000 by mistake than let go of 1!
Kemplot Family Partriach Carlo was also listening on the side. The former financial secretary director was newly released from prison, and he remained silent. When he heard these words, he finally changed his facial expression.
Lex the Great’s eyes slowly opened, “Kemplot Family has disowned Samuel.”
This sentence cleared the ties with the Kemplot Family, and Carlo breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing his imprisoned son on the stage, he stood up and wanted to say something, but he was pulled by Fourth Prince Luke beside him. In the end, he sat down again and looked like he had aged several decades in an instant.
As an officer for many years, Carlo had understood the intention of Lex the Great, which was a means of balance and a kind of warning. As a patriarch of a family, he couldn’t sacrifice the entire family for this son. Judging from the current situation, with Garfield’s evidence and the confirmation of the Holy Light Mountain chief bishop, even if he sacrificed the Kemplot Family, Samuel’s fate could not be changed.
“Samuel.” Lex the Great said a second sentence, “I want to hear your own defense.”
The guards on both sides immediately released the restraint on Samuel’s speech ability. Samuel did not rush to defend, but he was silent for a moment before he replied, “Your Majesty, I’m not the Black Death Follower. My weapon ‘Flying Obliteration’ was confiscated by the Legion General Commander Fagerius during this period of time. It was entirely possible that it was manipulated. As for the origin of ‘Flying Obliteration’ and my strength... Please forgive me for being unable to explain it.”
Lex the Great raised his brows slightly. At this point, Samuel still wants to hide it — Whether he is the Black Death Follower or not, no matter what forces are behind him... In short, the strength that is not under my control, I would rather give up. That was Lex’s way of a ruler, or more precisely, the technique of a ruler.
Samuel didn’t explain any further. He just glanced apologetically at his wife Joanna and In a next to Joanna.
“There’s no way to justify it, huh?” Garfield’s eyes showed a vicious expression, “The evidence is convincing, yet you insist you are not a Black Death Follower. Who would believe you?”
“I believe him!” Joanna said loudly without thinking about rudeness or family. At this moment, she just wanted to be with him.
“I also believe him.” Ina, who attended as Joanna’s maid, did not hesitate anymore, because this might be her last chance to express her intention. Joanna glanced at Ina, and the 2 women’s hands were clasped together.
From the moment Samuel answered Lex the Great, the noble families present already understood Samuel’s ending, so naturally no one would speak.
Garfield looked at Joanna and In a disdainfully, and he spoke up, “Sir Wintour, I think we can announce the judgment.”
Chief Bishop Wintour nodded, “I announce, Samuel...”
At this moment, a determined voice sounded from the back of the conference hall.
“Samuel is not the Black Death Follower!”
Everyone was taken aback. They unanimously looked back and saw several people walking in.
The one who spoke was a man in a cloak in front with an unclear face. There was a strange creature on his shoulder. There were 2 men beside him: 1 was holding a wine bottle with a frivolous expression, and the other was wearing a white robe. It was actually the clothes of the Holy Church, and the identity represented by the style of the clothes made the knowledgeable noble families look surprised.
“Who are you?! How dare you intrude...” A general immediately scolded, and the imperial guards were about to make a move, but they were stopped by Lex the Great’s gesture because Lex the Great recognized the man in church clothes. He was slightly moved.
“Wintour, you can announce the verdict that this knight is definitely not the Black Death Follower.” The man from the church bowed slightly in the direction of Lex the Great and said something..
“Sir Gralin!” Wintour, the presiding judge, stood up and bowed to the man who spoke.
Gralin! 1 of the 3 cardinals of the Holy Church!
Now everyone understood this man’s high identity, and they all showed their surprised expressions. Cardinal, the leader of the church after the pope and archbishop!
Although the Holy Light Mountain chief bishop had a higher status than the chief bishop of the general empire or kingdom, in front of this cardinal, he could only bow down. Wintour thought Gralin hadn’t figured out the situation, so he explained, “Sir Gralin, this Samuel...”
“There is no need to explain. Since Sir Arthur said he is not the Black Death Follower, then he is not, understand?” Gralin’s tone became a little sterner, “It’s like neither you nor I are the Black Death Follower.”
When Lex the Great heard the name ‘Arthur’, he had a slight shock. He finally turned his attention to the man in the cloak at the front.
The meaning of Gralin’s last sentence shocked Wintour, and he spoke up without hesitation, “I declare, Knight Samuel is not the Black Death Follower!”
As soon as the result was announced, all the noble families were shocked. Garfield didn’t expect such a turn of events. He said angrily, “Wait a minute! The evidence that Samuel is the Black Death Follower is conclusive. How can you judge him innocence?!”
The man in the cloak pointed to Trinis beside Garfield, and said to the man who was drinking wine, “Give me that blade.”
The wine drinking man yawned and glanced lazily in Trinis’s direction. Trinis felt oppressed by a terrifying power, and he couldn’t move as if he was on the edge of a cliff with boiling lava below. In the blink of an eye, his whole body was soaked in a cold sweat.
In front of everyone’s eyes, Trinis actually collapsed to the ground with a ‘pop’, trembling all over with a fearful expression. Samuel’s weapon which he was holding in his hand had disappeared, and it appeared directly in the hands of the wine drinking man.
Just a look, and the Golden Knight Trinis who is infinitely close to the real Saint...
Moreover, most of the people present did not see clearly how the blade got into the hands of the man.
Many generals stood up with shock. Lex the Great’s eyes became more and more shocked while his fingers had lightly stroked the ring of his left middle finger.
No one on the side of the man in the cloak looked too surprised, including Gralin, but the strange thing on the man in the cloak’s shoulder had already appeared next to the wine drinking man. It also held a wine bottle and started gurgling it.
At this time, the mysterious man in the cloak had already taken over the sheathed long blade. He glanced at it, and said indifferently, “It’s just enchanted with a little dark power. What a clumsy little trick...”
With that said, he pulled out the blade and held it high. Just when the destructive breath spread again, a dazzling light suddenly lit up on the blade.
This light was as strong as the sun, and the destructive breath was instantly eliminated. It was replaced by a sacred and warm light power that everyone in the entire conference hall felt.
Such a strong power of light! Chief Bishop Wintour, with surprise and reverence intertwined on his face, bowed deeply to the mysterious man in the cloak.
After a while, the light gradually changed from dazzling to crystal. It seemed that a crown disappeared from the head of the man in the cloak, then the mysterious man bowed in Lex’s direction and walked toward the conference stage step by step.
He didn’t show extraordinary strength, but he exuded an indescribable temperament. Whether it was Garfield or Luke, they actually couldn’t open their mouth to stop him for a while.
Samuel had been fixing his eyes on the mysterious man in the cloak, and his gaze trembled slightly. Even in the face of death, he had never felt this emotion before. In fact, from the moment the man in the cloak entered this conference hall, the gaze of this golden knight never left him.
The man in the cloak came to Samuel and stared at him, “Sorry, I’m late, my subordinate.”
Samuel’s eyes were actually a little red, and he knelt down on 1 knee. The people around were surprised to find that the power of shackles on Samuel’s body had been released at some point.
“My friend, you are a loyal subordinate who sacrificed your life for the promise of keeping secrets.” The man in the cloak slowly pressed the long blade ‘Flying Obliteration’ on Samuel’s shoulders.
“Samuel. Kemplot, oh wait, you seem to have been expelled from the family, so...Samuel, whether I have strength or power or not, are you willing to fight for my glory?”
“My lifelong honor.” Samuel lowered his head. There was blood on his wrist, forming a mark in the air, “I swear by the blood, I will become a sword to cut all the thorns for master.”
“I grant you the honor of following me, wherever and whenever.” The man in the cloak handed the long blade to Samuel, who respectfully took it with both hands. He stood up and looked radiant like he was a totally different person — His Highness recognized him as a subordinate in front of Lex the Great, in front of everyone.
Chief Bishop Wintour’s mind had been completely relieved: The light power possessed by this mysterious man can only be matched by His Holiness Vantis. How could his subordinate be the Black Death Follower?
“Who are you? How bold of you! How dare you accept the suspect of the Black Death Follower as a subordinate in front of His Majesty!” Garfield immediately flared up when he recovered his senses.
“This is a provocation to the dignity of the entire Dragon Bright Empire! Guards!” Fourth Prince Luke also shouted loudly. This was the time for him to perform in front of his father, and he must not be left behind. The surrounding generals and noble families all stood up.
“Shut up!” It was actually Lex the Great who spoke. The supreme ruler of the Dragon Bright Empire stood up slowly, and his eyes were fixed on the man in the cloak’s blurred face, “Who are you?”
There was silence all around. The mysterious man was silent for a moment, and he slowly removed the cloak.
