Chapter 496 - Black Potions and Modification Blueprints
Facing the oncoming storm, Chen Rui was busy with all kinds of affairs all day. He almost had no time to go to bed. He completely forgot to go to the Cloak Gang with Aldas to learn about alchemy from Tetenis.
As a result, the old man was annoyed. He pestered Aldas to get “Aguile” to come. Aldas had no choice but to find Chen Rui to tell his sir teacher’s request..
After thinking for a while, Chen Rui changed into Aguile’s outfit and headed to the Cloak Gang.
Chen Rui walked to the No. 4 street in the southeast block and happened to run into Alian and the other girls. The little loli Alice was one of them.
Eve’s eyes were sharp. She saw the leader “Aguile” at a glance. She blushed and was about to say hello when Alian already called out, “Sir Aguile!”
“Alian, are you going out of town to have fun again?”
“No, I heard that it is not safe outside the city, so we will accompany Princess Alice to the market to buy something.”
“Sir Aguile, you... you are getting married?” Eve plucked up the courage to ask.
“Yes.” Chen Rui saw the dim look in the dark elf girl’s eyes, and he frowned slightly, “But the wedding will be held at least after the Dark Moon has passed this difficult time. The situation is really tense this time. Will you leave the Dark Moon?”
“No.” Alian answered while clenching her fist, “We will stay and fight with Sir Aguile!”
Chen Rui patted the head of the dark elf girl and keenly sensed the strong hostility on the side which actually came from Alice.
“My sister won’t marry you!” The little loli said. There was no longer a bit of cuteness and innocence on her face like when she was normally with the “human brother”.
“Little Princess Royal Highness, it’s not your sister who is going to marry me, but I’m being taken in. It means I ‘marry’ to her.” Chen Rui shook his head helplessly. This is actually a live-in son-in-law.
“I don’t care what it is. You’re not allowed to get married to her anyway!” The little loli stared at Chen Rui’s mask fiercely, “If it weren’t for the capital’s proposal, my sister would definitely not make such a decision! She didn’t like you at all!”
“Since it’s a political marriage, it’s not about personal feelings, so certain sacrifices are inevitable.” Right now, Chen Rui was just the ‘Aguile’ identity, so he couldn’t explain in front of so many people. He just sighed, “Princess Alice, you will understand later.”
“I won’t let my sister make this sacrifice!” The little loli’s eyes suddenly turned red when she said the word “sacrifice”. She even exuded some murderous vibe. “You better put away those unrealistic delusions! Otherwise, I will definitely not let you go!”
It was the first time Chen Rui saw this type of expression of the little loli. Alian on the side spoke, “Alice...”
“Sorry, I suddenly don’t feel like going.” Alice turned her head and left. She ran forward quickly like she was venting her anger. After turning a block, she disappeared from everyone’s sight.
Chen Rui’s eyes softened: Alice’s feelings for her sister are very sincere. Shea will be relieved to see this scene.
Why not, I’ll tell her the truth another day, but if the little loli knows that her sister is actually getting married to someone first, I’m afraid she would be throwing a tantrum too...
Chen Rui comforted Alian and the others who were a little speechless, then he walked toward the ancient house.
As he went to the backyard, he saw his teacher, Tetenis.
The old man was lying lazily on the chair. When he saw Chen Rui coming, he jumped up and scolded Chen Rui right on his face, “Kid, you still remember to come? I will give you one day to prepare. Call Aldas and follow me to leave the Dark Moon together!”
Chen Rui was startled, “Leave?”
“You don’t leave, are you planning to wait for death here?” The old man seemed resentful toward him for failing to meet the expectations, “Do you think this estate can really compete with the Fallen Angel Capital?”
“That’s not for sure...” Chen Rui shrugged disapprovingly, “The world is unpredictable. When the Red Spirit Estate and the Blue Lava Estate launched the war of lords against the Dark Moon previously, no one thought that the Dark Moon would win. The Red Spirit Estate was defeated miserably and the Blue Lava Estate was wiped out. I feel that although the enemy is powerful, it may not be impossible to create miracles.”
The old man was so anxious that his voice suddenly became louder, “I think your brain has been intoxicated by that princess! Don’t you know why people take you in? It’s nothing more than value! I guess that woman knew about the capital’s intention long ago, so she announced the marriage in advance to use you, an idiot, as a shield!”
He actually guessed it right. Chen Rui regarded the old man with special respect. Seeing that he was silent, the old man thought he had been persuaded, “Your talent is quite good, far better than Aldas. If you study for a period of time, you can reach the master level in pharmaceutics alone, let alone close to the quasi-grand master in mechanics. Don’t waste your talents. Beauties are everywhere. Staying here will only cost your life! I don’t need you to accept the inheritance to participate in the competition with Saman. You two just need to leave this dangerous place with me. If you refuse, don’t blame the old man for using forceful means!”
Chen Rui knew that the old man was really sincerely looking out for him. He did not explain, but shook his head instead, “Teacher, if you want to go, you can take Aldas with you. No matter what method you use, I will not leave the Dark Moon.”
The old man said coldly, “He is as foolish as you. He said he received great grace from her, so he will never leave. I admire the Princess Royal Highness very much now. Since you two are so determined, I want to stay and have a look at how deadly foolish you two are!”
Chen Rui knew that the old man wanted to stay here to protect him and Aldas. He was secretly moved and said, “Teacher, rest assured, we will be fine. I came today with a gift for you. I hope teacher can take this gift and leave the Dark Moon to find a safer place to study it. Maybe it will be helpful to the competition a year later.”
“I don’t want any lousy gifts...” Before he finished speaking, the old man’s eyes suddenly widened when he saw a bottle of black potion appeared in Chen Rui’s hand.
“This is...” The old man’s voice trembled a little.
“This is one of the gifts I am giving to teacher.” Chen Rui took out a space ring, kept the black potions in it, and handed it to the old man. “There are a full set of black potions including the True series potions, Eternal series potions, resurrection potion and longevity potion.”
The old man was shocked again: Resurrection potion! Longevity potion! This is a symbol of the highest level of achievement of the pharmaceutical grand master! Even Saman, the evil genius, can only create Eternal Potions!
The old man looked at the ring handed to him as he took a few breaths. He didn’t even take the black potions that were within reach, “Where did this come from? Tell me quickly! I know you are hiding a lot of things from me, but you definitely need to tell the truth about this!”
“This is a story about the inheritance of the grand master. Please forgive me for revealing it to the teacher only until now...”
Ok. This is still a lie, but it is more like the truth than the profoundly mysterious Super System.
“The consciousness of the grand master commanded you to create this kind of potion?” The old man seemed to be in disbelief, “You create it for me now!”
Chen Rui knew that the old man was a quasi-grand master, and some lies might be exposed. He shook his head, “I still can’t control this kind of consciousness. They are created when I am unconscious. I don’t remember the formula and steps. I can only see the finished product when I’m awakened. If teacher does not believe it, you can take a look at this...”
He took out some common medicines from the exchange center, “When consciousness starts to ‘take over’, many medicines will usually be created. There are white medicines and normal medicines. The black potions are the least. Sometimes there are, sometimes not.
Tetenis picked up a bottle of healing potion, unplugged the cork and smelled it. He suddenly showed a surprised look, “This kind of purity... Dear Demon God! There are really 100% pure potions! Even Saman can’t create it! No doubt! This must be a masterpiece of a super grand master!”
No matter how ridiculous Chen Rui’s reasons were, the facts were in front of them.
Tetenis was emotional, amazed, excited... He was busy working for a while. Finally, his eyes turned to Chen Rui, “How many secrets do you actually have? Tell me honestly, if I forcibly bring you away with the peak stage of the Demon Emperor strength, can I do it or not?”
Chen Rui smiled behind the mask and replied, “Not at the peak stage of the Demon Emperor, but peak stage of the Demon Overlord.”
The old man glanced at him profoundly, “Hmph! Since I can’t take you away, I will just stay here! Give me all the potions! Here are 2 modification blueprints of the magic crystal cannon. Take it as an exchange!”
Modified magic crystal cannon! Chen Rui didn’t expect this kind of unexpected gain. His eyes suddenly brightened. He was an expert in mechanics. Although he had not designed heavy magic weapons such as the magic crystal cannon, he could see at a glance that the blueprints given by Tetenis were not simple. The modified magic crystal cannon had a more terrifying range and power. Even the high-level powerhouse would be slightly intimidated. This kind of weapon should belong to the forbidden level, but the old man threw it over without bothering explaining it. He waved to signal Chen Rui to go as he hurriedly returned to the house to study with the black potions.
If he were to manufacture a new magic crystal cannon, then it was definitely too late. However, this modified magic crystal cannon was modified based on the original version. Although it was still not an ordinary job, there was a team of elite goblin warriors who were good at this. It should be possible to complete the modification and testing in the shortest time.
Time passed day by day. Finally, the news came from the capital. Obsidian assembled the 2 major legions, Red Demon and Mystic Feather, with 800,000 soldiers. The coalition army from various estates comprised 400,000 soldiers; a total of more than 1.2 million. He mobilized the third general, Gerant. Brian, from the Tekula Fortress at the northwest of the empire, as the deputy commander of the coalition army. Before the army had any movement, it had overwhelmed the Dark Moon in terms of momentum.
The strength of the Dark Moon Estate had greatly expanded compared with the war of lords previously. It had a total of more than 200,000. In addition to the Blue Lava Estate’s reinforcements, it was less than 300,000 which was about one third of the coalition army. On the surface, the strength of the 2 sides was world apart. It was almost a war without any suspense.
The movement and advancement of the army of millions were not simple matters. It took quite a while to reach the Red Spirit Estate City. However, Obsidian did not intend to give the Dark Moon more preparation time. Before arriving at the Red Spirit Estate, Obsidian issued an ambush order on the 20,000 elite cavalry stationed in the Red Spirit Estate.
The 20,000 cavalry was one of Obsidian’s trump cards who came to the Red Spirit Estate in the name of “escorting” the capital’s proposal envoy. They had been waiting for opportunities. At present, the capital army would still take quite some time to reach the Red Spirit Estate. The Dark Moon certainly did not expect that the Red Spirit Estate would launch a separate ambush at this time. This would not only disrupt the defense set up of the Dark Moon, but once they occupy the Town Dico in the southern part of the Dark Moon, it could be used as a springboard to threaten the entire Dark Moon.
Even if he couldn’t take down the Town Dico, with the cavalry’s excellent mobility, he wouldn’t lose much. At least, he could smash the morale of the enemy before the main force arrived. After receiving Obsidian’s order, the “Magic Shadow” cavalry legion’s commander, Nesta, immediately led the army from the Red Spirit Estate City, and they charged straight to the Dark Moon non-stop.
Would the ambush succeed?
