Chapter 376 - The Defeated Joseph
Dark Moon City.
The attendance rate of the ancient arena broke the record again.
There were many seats shared by 2 people. Many people even sit on the wall to watch. Not only because this battle ball game, which was about to start, was completely free, but also because this game would be related to the future fate of the Dark Moon.
The 2 sides of the competition were Princess Royal Shea’s Dark Moon Elite Team and Joseph’s Red Cloak Team. Whoever won this game would win a series of industries controlled by the other party. That meant that the final winner would completely control the economic situation of the Dark Moon.
At present, the combat effectiveness of the imperial guards and garrison guards had significantly improved. The military affairs were firmly held in the hands of Princess Royal Shea. She also controlled about 60% to 70% of the economy that she had been painstakingly managed. It was only due to the sudden defection of the Cloak Gang that Joseph’s proportion had increased a lot. The two sides‘ ratio was about 6:4. Since Joseph’s chips were still insufficient, he also bet on the position of financial officer.
Joseph’s predicament in the previous days was well-known. There were rumors that the eldest son of the Red Spirit Lord was also in a bad situation in the Red Spirit Estate. He was sanctioned by his father, Lord Josh, and fell out of favor. Once he could win the competition, then, with Dark Moon’s current economic power, it shouldn’t be a problem to rise again. Even if he left the Red Spirit, he could stand alone.
For both parties, this competition was a must-win.
On the VIP bench, almost all the leading figures in the Dark Moon came. As the leader and coach of the Dark Moon Elite Team, Athena appeared on the coaching bench of the Dark Moon Elite Team. Alice and Kia were with her, but it was said that the human sheriff, Chen Rui’s “sickness” was triggered again. Therefore, he did not come and stayed in her residence to recuperate instead.
The players from both sides entered the field. The atmosphere in the field suddenly became intense.
The members of the Dark Moon Elite Team were the best in the garrison guard and imperial guards teams. They also represented the team of highest level of the current battle ball. Many “celebrity players” were also well-known by the Dark Moon residents who liked battle balls. A large group of fans cheered when they appeared.
The Red Cloak Team was unknown. Each player wore a mask on their face. It was exactly the style of Cloak Gang. It was said that it was a team that was secretly trained by Joseph’s “accomplice” Aguile. Even the training was conducted in secret. No one had seen it before. It seemed very mysterious.
Before the game, the physical strength of both parties passed a strict test. It was determined that they were all at the same level of Intermediate Demon.
With a whistle from the referee, the game officially began.
The first move of the Red Cloak Team turned out to be a shot directed to the goal after just serving from the center line. This was a special game ball. It would absorb power. Not only that, the arena’s court was added with gravity. However, the strength and accuracy of this kick was quite amazing. The battle ball was shot out like a magic crystal cannonball. It drew a rapidly dropping curve, going directly to the goal.
The goalkeeper of the Dark Moon Elite Team was taken aback. Fortunately, he was very experienced, so he blocked the ball out of the goal with a pounce. His arm was somewhat numb from the shock.
The first blow from the Red Cloak Team shook the audience. The Dark Moon Elite Team were all knowledgeable experts, they put away their arrogance instantly and began to fully devote themselves to the game.
Joseph’s eyes flashed with certainty. They are indeed Aguile’s “secret weapon”. Judging from the powerful strengthI have seen before of this team, this battle is basically a win.
The Dark Moon Elite Team organized a counterattack after receiving the ball. However, the opponent’s defensive ability was extraordinary both collectively and individually. The burly body and accurate tackles prevented the Dark Moon Elite Team from organizing a gorgeous offense that was as smooth as usual. It was interrupted in a few moves.
After the Red Cloak Team stole the ball, they quickly launched a counterattack. After a few concise and effective passes, they had reached the Dark Moon Elite Team’s front field. The midfield front striker leaped high and launched a header upon receiving the pass from his teammate. The ball hit the crossbar of the goal and bounced out of the field. Although the ball did not score, it shocked the Dark Moon Elite Team. Even all the supporting spectators were in a cold sweat. Even Alice on the VIP seat covered her mouth in horror. Only Lord Shea was still indifferent. It looked like nothing could cause the iceberg princess to be emotional.
After a fierce battle, the first half finally ended. The score was still 0:0.
After the intermission, the second half began again.
Although neither team scored in the first half, the intensity of the confrontation and the level of technical tactics far exceeded the audience’s imagination. Even the Red Cloak Team had been suppressing the Dark Moon Elite Team in the field. They firmly controlled the initiative on the field.
This situation was unexpected by almost everyone. The battle ball should first appear in the garrison guard, and then spread to the imperial guards. The last is the private sector. So at present, the level of the military is much higher than that of the private sector. Where did Joseph (Aguile) find such a high-performance team?
Joseph could see that the Dark Moon Elite Team had tried their best and was physically exhausted. On the other hand, the Red Cloak Team was much better. Without the physical body’s support, it was useless no matter how good the skill was. Based on this point alone, the Red Cloak Team could bring down the opponent.
However, even with a considerable chance of winning, Joseph still prepared an insidious trump card. He was ready to destroy everything when he failed. These days he had instructed Royce to plant huge explosive and burning magic traps in many places in the Dark Moon. Not only at his own industry, but also near the Princess Retail Store and the joint chamber of commerce. In case of failure, he would immediately launch it while he fled back to the Red Spirit or the capital. He would stay incognito for a period of time before seeking a comeback.
But this is just a precautionary measure. Shea should also have some preventive measures after failure. When I win, I will definitely encounter various obstacles when I take over those shops and industries. I should consider how to resolve this.
Just when Joseph was in a trance, the crowd suddenly cheered loudly. It turned out that the Dark Moon Elite Team suddenly changed the way of attacking. They adopted a defensive counterattack. They finally launched a counterattack when the Red Cloak Team pressed on the whole line. The only one kick they did penetrated the Red Cloak goal.
This first goal boosted the morale of the Dark Moon Elite Team. Under Athena’s loud scolding, they calmed down and continued to adopt strict defenses to overcome dangers time and again. It constantly made the Red Cloak Team unable to turn advantage into victory. Soon, their counterattack succeeded in the same way.
The vast majority of the audience hoped that Princess Royal would win. It was also reflected in the betting odds purchased. The score now made the audience screamed even more triumphantly. Alice, who was next to Kia, looked particularly excited. She waved her fists and shouted, but her voice had long been overwhelmed by the crowd’s cheering.
Cold sweat began to appear on Joseph’s forehead. He couldn’t sit still anymore. As he looked at “Aguile” who was wearing a cloak not far away, he saw that “Aguile” remained unresponsive while just watching the field quietly. Could it be he has the ultimate comeback strategy for turning defeat into victory?
The game was still going on, and time was running out. “Aguile” was still very calm. Joseph hadn’t seen any so-called comeback strategy yet. His face was already pale. Am I really going to lose?
It is actually a good game to secure victory!
Could it be that Aguile deliberately...
Why?
Did the Beelzebub Royal Family take refuge in Shea... this down-and-out Princess Royal?
Impossible!
The cold light in Joseph’s eyes flickered. As if he didn’t want to see the end of failure, he suddenly got up and turned away.
Alice, who was on the coach bench, was watching the game merrily when someone suddenly came to her side and handed her a note. Kia stood in front of her vigilantly as she took the note and read it. She frowned slightly and seemed thoughtful before handing it to Alice.
When Alice read the note, she looked surprised and somewhat delighted. She looked at the field with reluctance. She finally got up and walked toward the passage. Athena was fully focused on the game, so she didn’t pay attention to this, but Kia kept following her closely.
Alice took Kia out of the noisy arena. They came all the way to the empty house in the eastern block.
“That’s strange. Didn’t Brother Chen Rui say to wait for me here?” Alice pouted and asked. She then looked at the note again, “It’s here, right? Kia, when did brother come back?”
Kia shook her head and said nothing. Chen Rui has been away for a while. He is supposingly coming back soon, but this note says that there are important things rather than saying returning from the outside. I’m afraid something is wrong.
Moreover, even if Chen Rui returned to the Dark Moon, he would not see Alice first. He would also not choose such a place. But now Paglio and Delia are both in the Dark Moon. In case of any situation, I just crush the magic dragon scales given by Paglio and the poison dragon will arrive immediately.
There was the sound of footsteps outside. When Alice ran out happily to take a look, her movements instantly froze. This person was not Chen Rui, but Joseph instead.
Joseph’s usual smile was gone. He put on a cold face, “Royal Highness Little Princess, sorry for letting you wait for a long time.”
“What do you want to do?” Alice asked warily as she slowly stepped back to Kia’s side.
“Nothing, I just want to take you away. In fact, I have admired Royal Highness Little Princess for a long time. I just happen to be able to fulfill it this time.”
Kia guarded Alice behind her and shouted, “Joseph, how dare you! You even made a filthy statement to Royal Highness Little Princess!”
Joseph’s face became distorted and looked particularly hideous, “Anyway, I have nothing once the game is over! Princess Alice, my little baby, don’t be afraid. I will make you comfortable every day from now on!”
Alice gritted her teeth and said, “Stop! Get lost now! Otherwise, you will be dead when my sister comes!”.
“Do you think Shea will definitely win? All she gets is the news of your disappearance and the Dark Moon ruins!” Joseph yelled hysterically, “I have sent a signal for Royce to launch all magic traps buried in the Dark Moon. Whether it is the Princess Retail Store or the night market, all will be turned into wreckage! I have even sent someone to greet the trash human who you like. You will see his tortured corpse soon!”
On the surface, Joseph had tried to pursue Shea, but in fact he had always coveted Alice. He even detected Alice’s feelings about the human sheriff.
What should I do? This bastard is too vicious! Even if I die, I will not fall into his hands! Alice bit her lip as she tried to keep herself from crying. Kia calmly asked, “Are you sure you notified Royce? Are you sure you sent someone to the sheriff’s residence?”
If he asked Royce to launch it, then there is no need to worry. As for the assassin sent to the sheriff residence, I’m afraid he will be miserable.
“Hmph! Bitch, don’t try to delay. Although I don’t like a woman like you, I don’t mind rewarding you to my subordinates.” Joseph reached out and grabbed Alice. Alice was just an Intermediate Demon. As for Kia, aside from a little charm skill, she had no fighting power at all. With his strength close to the peak of the Demon King, they were an easy catch after all.
Suddenly, Joseph felt an extremely dangerous feeling in his heart. It turned out to be from the succubus maid who had no combat power at all. Before he approached Alice, everything in front was red. He was entirely enveloped in flames. This flame breath is far above imagination. It turns out to be... Demon King level! No, with this power, I’m afraid it is the peak of Demon King!
This low-key maid, Kia, turns out to be the peak of the Demon King powerhouse! She is even more powerful than Athena, Kaguron and even Old Gauss! (Of course, Joseph didn’t know that Athena was already a Great Demon King.)
Joseph secretly thought, At this point I can only make a desperate bet. Even if I don’t have those nasty thoughts, I still have to catch Alice to blackmail Shea. He immediately shouted and transformed into a combat form. There was a raging flame on his body and he was holding a scythe. It emitted a strong air current which cut the flames away.
Just as Joseph cut away the flames, he felt a sharp qi approaching his body. He dodged fiercely, but his shoulders seemed to be cut by a sharp blade which caused him to bleed. Immediately after that, the sharp qi filled the air. The wind blades! And there are so many of them! Wind and fire elements magician!
Joseph had a shield in his hand to protect his vitals. He continued to rush forward. He only heard continuous cutting sounds. His shield was torn apart, but he had already rushed toward Kia- A magician is most afraid of being close. Even if I need to pay a certain price, I must also kill this dangerous woman!
However, Kia’s speed of casting magic was far beyond his imagination. Before he was close, a huge fireball rushed forward. Joseph couldn’t avoid it. His scythe turned into a sharp ray as he struck with all his strength, intending to cut the fireball into half from Kia.
When the scythe touched the fireball, the fireball suddenly exploded into countless lightning arcs. Joseph’s whole body was shaken, and his movements became stiff. When the fireball burst open, Joseph’s body, that had received all of the impact, was knocked back by the huge impact. He flew upside down and fell to the ground far away.
He had been severely injured this time. Before he could stand up, Kia’s [Continuous Fireballs] came again. In the continuous explosion sound and tremor, Joseph was completely defeated. He fell to the ground with wounds all over his body, and he could no longer get up.
Wind and fire compound magic!
The two magic elements are initially incompatible. It is almost impossible to successfully combine them. Even my father, Josh, may not be able to do this, but Kia can go against such a rule and cast it...
By the way, Royce has received the signal for so long. Why hasn’t it been launched?
Perhaps he was on the verge of death, Joseph suddenly had an unprecedented clarity in his mind. In an instant, he seemed to understand a lot of things. Could it be that even Royce...
It turns out that it was a trap from the beginning. I even eagerly walked into it. I sealed my own retreat...
Why Aguile...
In any case, this time... I have really lost. Completely and absolutely...
In the midst of shock and despair, Joseph’s vision became increasingly blurred.
Would Joseph just die like that? He didn’t even put up a good fight at all.
