Chapter 805: The Blood Cave
The discovery of this truth gave Chen Rui a great shock. The mysterious cult actually spread to the orc tribe!
To be precise, the orcs are also victims. Their faith in the Orc God has been converted to the mysterious cult’s Evil God!
As the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Judging from the condition of the God Prayer Hall, this deception plan must have been implemented for a long time.
At this time, only the remaining phantasm of the god-given weapon was left, and the bodies of the other 3 had disappeared. Only the secret guard supported by the [Spring Territory] had not faded. The strength of [Spring Territory] seemed to be effective. The disappearing speed of the phantasm of the god-given weapon had also been eased, so this secret guard will not be annihilated for the time being.
“Unexpectedly, you are actually the Black Death Follower! This is the southeastern part of the mainland. Is Longmetil the chief bishop of the southern district? No, it should be higher than the chief bishop...”
The secret guard shook and lost his voice, “You... who are you! You actually know so many secrets of the church!”
“Tell me the whereabouts of Longmetil and the half-elf!” Chen Rui’s gaze looked extremely cold. It revealed a strange power that made the soul tremble, “Otherwise, I will take your soul out now and slowly torture it. Even if you are the abyss believer, if you lose your soul, there is no such thing as a reborn! Then, I will give your soul to the Holy Church. You should know how they deal with the Black Death Follower. By then, death is only an extravagant hope for you!”
Although Chen Rui’s remarks were intimidating, he learned a lot about the mysterious cult from Shura, such as the interpretation of the soul reborn in the Black Death Follower’s doctrine. These remarks hit the other side’s soft spot, and the secret guard’s body suddenly trembled. Watching Chen Rui’s gradually reaching out his hand, he couldn’t help but yell, “The great wizard took the half-elf to the Blood Cave!”
“The Blood Cave? Where is it?”
“The secret cave of Nightmare Volcano is the highest worship place in this branch... There is a teleportation array behind the god statue that connects to it directly, but only Madam Longmetil can open it.” The secret guard gritted his teeth, “I already tell you everything that I know. Give me a quick death!”
“The last question, why Longmetil wants the half-elf girl?” Chen Rui’s hand already had a mass of destructive power.
“The blood sacrifice dedicated to God requires the main sacrifice. Madam Longmetil activated the Eye of Blood Sea secret technique to search, and she happened to sense that the special physique possessed by the half-elf girl was the best main sacrifice product, so she issued a bounty on her.”
Although Chen Rui didn’t quite understand how the Eye of Blood Sea secret technique searched Blanche, he finally understood the cause and effect. At the moment, he must rush to the Blood Cave of Nightmare Volcano to rescue the half-elf girl as soon as possible. With a shift of thought, he withdrew the [Spring Territory] power.
The vitality of the secret guard that had lost the support of the [Spring Territory] began to lose quickly, and his body gradually flickered. At this time, the phantasm of the ‘whip’ was already weak and invisible. This secret guard would soon be annihilated like the 3 companions.
“It’s too late, the first stage of blood sacrifice should have been completed...”
The last words of the secret guard before the annihilation made Chen Rui anxious. He hurriedly walked toward the 3 layered relief sculpture. After searching for a while, he opened a secret door and no doubt found a 2-way teleportation array.
The secret guard once said that only Longmetil himself could activate this teleportation array, but Chen Rui still maintained the devoured Longmetil spiritual imprint and did not ‘digest’ it. Coupled with the ample faith power, in theory, he was another Longmetil who was able to freely enter and exit any ‘restricted’ place in the Doom Swamp.
Facts had proved that this theory was fully in line with practice. Chen Rui did not waste too much time activating the teleportation array. Soon, he came to the Blood Cave through the teleportation array.
If the Doom Swamp was a dangerous place of the Nightmare Wilderness, then the Nightmare Volcano was the land of no return. There was almost no life form in the volcano. The Blood Cave was in this Nightmare Volcano. There was boiling lava everywhere with a suffocating and terrifying high temperature; even the line of sight had a distorted illusion.
Chen Rui walked forward step by step. After 2 turns, he came to a large cave. His gaze instantly froze.
What he saw was endless corpses piled together, almost covering the middle flat ground.
The flat ground was the size of a sports field. It was like an island surrounded by lava sea, and the ground was covered with dried blood. Judging from the color of the ground, the number of deaths in this place was far more than what he could see. Due to the evaporation of high temperatures, the corpses of men and women who had lost their humidity had become extremely dry and looked more creepy. However, he could still recognize their race. There were humans, orcs and half-orcs.
Strangely, there was no breath of life or the trace of Great Wizard Longmetil here.
These corpses were surrounded by a strange inscription on the ground. The sunken parts in these patterns and texts were blood-red crystals which seemed to be the essence of the coagulation of these superb blood. When connected together, they were like texts.
These patterns gave Chen Rui a familiar feeling. Right! The stone slab of Socrates, the Starlight College’s magic circle master!
That piece of stone slab is still in the hands of the elf Grand Master Finoia. It turns out that the connection of the dented patterns is the real mystery...
This is actually some kind of text for the mysterious cult to perform evil sacrifices, or it can be called... the abyss language?
Chen Rui was anxious as he tried to find the half-elf’s corpse. Fortunately, he didn’t find it. He looked all the way to the blood-red altar in front of the corpse mountain.
There were also several corpses under the altar. The strange thing was that these corpses were not as dry as the ones in the circle, and their expressions were lifelike as if they saw something extremely terrifying.
Judging from the clothing, the identities of these corpses should be altar’s guards and support wizards. Could it be that Longmetil sacrificed his subordinates for the sake of sacrifice?
Chen Rui walked up to the altar step by step, and was suddenly shocked. His eyes focused on the corpse on the altar. It was not Blanche, but... a tall woman wearing a black cloak with a sharp face. There was also a silver staff on the ground nearby. The top of the staff was shaped like a beast skull with 2 curved horns.
Looking at this woman’s appearance and attire, it is obviously the Great Wizard Longmetil!
Longmetil is dead?
The blood sacrifice this time is a sacrifice to ‘God’, and the main sacrifice is Blanche, but why is Longmetil dead now?
Like the guards, Longmetil didn’t have any scars on her body as if her soul power suddenly disappeared in an instant, but her expression is a little strange. In addition to horror, it is more of disbelief and even a hint of panic?
Maybe it’s an illusion. Chen Rui shook his head. What about Blanche?
Where is Blanche?
A glimmer of hope ignited in Chen Rui’s heart, and he began to look carefully for the whereabouts of the half-elf girl. At this moment, his pupils shrank suddenly and stared at the ground near the edge of the magma behind the altar. There was something there – glasses.
The magic glasses I gave to Blanche!
This is a quasi-artifact that can restrain Blanche’s blood mutation. Without the will of the half-elf girl, no one can take it down!
From the attitude of Blanche last time, these glasses should be one of the things she cherishes the most, so she will not give them up easily.
The glasses are left here, then...
Chen Rui rushed forward and looked at the bottom of the rock wall, but there was no trace of Blanche there, only boiling lava.
There seemed to be a scene in his mind. Blanche took off her glasses at the moment of life and death and killed Longmetil and others who wanted to kill her with the power of blood eye, but she stumbled and fell into the lava because of their counterattack or other reasons...
Chen Rui bent down and picked up the glasses carefully as if he had picked up the tough and gentle girl. Hoping for the last fluke, he searched every corner nearby over and over again, but unfortunately, there was no gain.
The terrain of this cave used for secret sacrifices was simple and hidden. Except for the [Teleportation Array], there was no other way out. It was tantamount to a dead end, which made him give up his last hope.
He fought all the way and rushed here desperately to no avail.
In fact, since the acquaintance, the dialogue between him and Blanche was very few. The half-elf girl seemed not good at words and even worse at expressing her emotions. Only those words appeared firm.
I’ll wait for you.
“Blanche!” Chen Rui only felt a pain in his heart as he roared and punched the ground. A large area of the hard ground covered in magma for countless years suddenly collapsed.
The Black Death Follower! The mysterious cult! The figure of Chen Rui flew outward. The knuckles of his clenched fists turned white because of excessive force. The cult must be completely uprooted! Revenge for Blanche! Revenge for all the innocent people!
When Chen Rui’s figure disappeared into the teleportation array, the magma in the Blood Cave suddenly surged and formed a huge vortex.
In the center of the vortex, a lump of flaming lava slowly rose, blooming layer by layer as if it were some kind of flower. An extremely pure bloody light began to emerge from the central part of the flower. Gradually, all the lava stopped moving and began to crystallize which looked spectacular.
That cluster of bloody light swiftly turned into a human form. This was a red naked female body. The light red skin was covered with spiderweb-like cracks, and the pattern was golden red as if the circulation in the whole body was not blood but lava.
Her delicate facial features could be vaguely seen with 1 blue eye and 1 red eye. She was staring in the direction of the teleportation array.
She slowly retracted her gaze, lowered her head, and looked at the terrifying skin and blade-like nails on her raised hands. In the blue pupils, a drop of flame-like tear slowly dropped.
The drop of ‘flame’ that flowed straight down hit the solidified crystals. In an instant, all the solidified crystals broke apart at the same time, returning to the surging lava.
The lava seemed to carry a certain intense emotion surging violently, engulfing everything including the teleportation array and the sacrifice altar.
After everything turned into ashes, the woman slowly closed her eyes, and the rising blood pillar slowly sank into the lava, just like an angel without wings fell into darkness...
TL: Does that mean he would have to fight her one day? Can he still save her?
