Chapter 819: Grand Master
As Isabella expected, when the potion master contest ended the next morning, the mysterious Saman still did not show up. Of course, the ‘cunning human’ as well.
The finals of the potion master contest could be considered exciting. No doubt, the presidents of the 3 empires’ Potioneer Association, were superior. Angegille’s buff potion was extremely outstanding with shocking purity and efficacy; Wilson was considered the strongest poison master. He even created a very vicious poison potion; Aldas was stable in all aspects. The 3 were once in a stalemate
In the final contest, the Dark Shadow Empire’s Angegille performed beyond his current level, crafting a powerful Iron Wall Potion with minimal side effects.
According to Panu, the chief arbitrator, this potion was very close to the ‘True Iron Wall Potion of black potions.’ That was to say, Angegille had unleashed a level that was very close to the threshold of grand master, which was the quasi-grand master level. Of course, this was only extraordinary level performance, so the state was not stable. Therefore, he could not be called a quasi-grand master.
With this bottle of potion, Angegille finally defeated 2 rivals and won the championship of the masters contest.
As the potion master contest was over, the public’s focus was on the final and most exciting game of the contest, the mechanic master contest.
Potion masters were low-key, and many had a notorious image for developing poisons. Thus relatively speaking, people were more familiar and fond of mechanic masters.
After the master-level mechanic made a successful or satisfactory work, he would usually name and engrave the name of the maker. A good piece of equipment would often be passed down through the ages. Meanwhile, the potion produced by potioneer, would be left with an empty bottle after drinking, even if it was a bottle of black potion.
The preliminaries for the mechanic master contest started in the afternoon. Seeing the famous masters whom they had only heard the names before walk into the arena, the atmosphere of the arena suddenly became high. When Master Fonsaq, the president of the Fallen Angel Empire’s Mechanic Association, entered the arena, he was greeted with loud cheers from the home audience.
Anderson, Rummenigge, Turia, Mavinna and others of the Bloody Empire all stepped forward to greet or nod when they saw the ‘disappeared’ Fonsaq. At first, ‘Richard’ was accepted as apprentice by Turia, then he later ‘betrayed’ him in order to expose Nate’s true face and finally ‘sacrificed’. Turia and his wife had been grieving for a long time because of this, and Turia’s daughter, Beluan, had become a quiet person because of this.
When Fonsaq heard Turia’s sentence, “You had a good apprentice”, he took a long time to realize that it was someone who was pretending to be ‘Richard’ instead of Sosa, who just became the champion of Group B. His facial expression suddenly seemed a little strange. It was the hug of his old friend, Xingxing, that brought him back to his senses.
Contrary to Fonsaq, the top mechanic master Nate was booed when he appeared. Even Turia and others who participated on behalf of the Bloody Empire showed their expressions of contempt while Fonsaq didn’t conceal the hatred in his eyes.
The mechanic master contest was divided into individual competitions and finals. The individual competition was a single-type mastery competition. After elimination, the top 3 in each type would be determined to enter the finals to determine the winner.
Coincidentally, Nate and Fonsaq drew the consecutive numbers, so both their mechanic tables were very close. Nate seemed to ignore the boos around him and Fonsaq’s hatred.
Ill reputation and disgraced were a true portrayal of him now. If it wasn’t for the halo of a top mechanic master on his head, he wouldn’t even be eligible for an amnesty to participate this time.
The winner takes it all. No matter what, this halo must be preserved. 3 contests have been carried out. The potioneer contest and the master contest champion was won by the Dark Shadow Empire. The winner of the mechanic competition belongs to the Fallen Angel Empire. The Bloody Empire, which has gotten championships in many areas in the past, has not had any success yet. This is putting shame on the Bloody Empire’s emperor’s face.
Once we fail the mechanic master contest again, I don’t know how other mechanical masters will be punished, but I, Nate. Mammon, have absolutely no choice but to die.
In order to regain glory and future, in order to save my life, I must win this battle! Nate’s eyes suddenly glowed with a strong light. He concentrated all his mind, truly regaining his top mechanic state and confidence.
“Fonsaq, you are lucky that you didn’t die back then.” Nate looked at Fonsaq contemptuously, “No matter what, I will always be number 1.”
This sentence was actually more of a psychological tactic of deliberately angering the opponent. Many viewers heard this arrogant provocation, and the boos became louder. Fonsaq stared at Nate with hateful eyes as if he wanted to kill him.
At this time, Tetenis, who was walking to the back mechanic table, suddenly touched Fonsaq. Fonsaq seemed to wake up and looked at the audience stand in the distance, where his current wife, Lisa, and 2 beloved daughters, Eve and Alian, were. The dark elf master took a few deep breaths, and the hatred in his eyes subsided. He sneered, “Let’s not talk about your despicable means of improving your skills, the so-called ‘number 1’ is just taking advantage of the rule. When it comes to a single-specialization, your metal mastery is not as good as Master Anderson’s, your leather ,astery is not as good as mine, and as for accessories... you are not qualified to be on a par with master level.”
“Winning is winning, losing is losing.” Nate said proudly, “I’m still number 1 after this competition, and it will be the same in the future.”
According to the rule, the greatest threat was the trio-specialized genius ‘Arthur’. However, ‘Arthur’ did not appear in this competition. The remaining duo-specialized master Horford was Nate’s apprentice, and his strength had not yet reached the senior master level, so Nate was very confident of becoming the champion this time.
“You’re wrong.” Fonsaq suddenly revealed a secret smile, “Even if you have the advantage of duo-specialized rule, you won’t be able to get the first place today, dare you make this bet?”
Nate looked at the masters who participated in the competition. They were basically familiar faces from the previous masters contest. He didn’t think these people could surpass him in a short period of time. “What do you want to bet on?”
“Life.”
“Okay!” Fonsaq’s answer was in Nate’s expectation. No matter what tricks the opponent has, in this kind of competition, strength is always the only factor that determines the outcome. Furthermore, there are 3 empire leaders sitting on the throne. It is impossible to use tricks or fraud. It is a contest with high winning probability. Moreover, if I don’t win, I will die. As long as I win, I can take Fonsaq’s life, which is a great achievement no matter how I look at it. So Nate agreed without hesitation.
Witnessed by many mechanic masters, the 2 sides signed a soul contract. Before the competition started, such an exciting scene occurred, and the atmosphere of the arena set off a climax again. Most people supported Fonsaq while some people thought that Fonsaq was too impulsive because in terms of strength and rule, Nate was still the most popular candidate to win the championship.
After signing the contract. Fonsaq didn’t bother anymore. He quickly adjusted his state and was ready to face the real challenge. Master Xingxing seemed to be confident about the bet of his best friend because he was one of the few people who knew the strength of the Tetenis as the quasi-grand master of all elements. Even if the cunning ‘Aguile’ were not around, Nate would definitely lose to Tetenis.
However, Xingxing didn’t know that Tetenis had successfully moved beyond the realm of quasi-grand master to become a true grand master not long ago.
After an episode where the 2 masters bet on their lives, the mechanic master contest officially began.
As expected, after elimination matches, the names of Nate, Fonsaq, Anderson, Rummenigge, Tetenis, Xingxing and others were on the roster for the finals.
The first place in the single type competition was Leather Mastery Fonsaq, Metal Mastery Anderson, and Jewelry Mastery Tetenis. Nate chose Leather Mastery in the elimination matches, and he was second only to Fonsaq. He was not anxious because of this because tomorrow’s finals rule was extremely favorable to him, he was confident to turn things around.
On the final day, the sky was very clear without a single cloud, and the 2 moons glowed brightly.
The final rule adopted a point system. Each master produced 3 items within the specified time, and each item was evaluated. The one with the highest total score was the champion, that was, the top mechanic master.
In addition to quality, craftsmanship and attribute, the grading criteria for the items would have additional scores for multi specialization. Of course, if the corresponding standards were not met, the scores obtained were not as good as single-element items. In all fairness, Nate’s metal proficiency and leather proficiency had reached a very high level of senior masters, second only to the top level of Anderson and Fonsaq, so the additional scores was very high. This was the most important reason for him to win the previous masters contest championship.
The finals had finally started. After a long wait, the masters finally completed their respective works. The atmosphere of the arena suddenly reached a climax. Most of the audience were laymen. What they cared about as audiences was that they could witness the creation of legendary grade equipment with their own eyes.
Anderson’s first item was ‘Split Slash’. Metal long sword, quasi-legendary grade, increase strength by 31%, slash damage by 32%, and add ‘sharpness’. 75 points.
The second item was ‘Gloomy’. Metal dagger, quasi-legendary grade, increase movement speed by 35%, increase wielding speed, double poisoning effect. 77 points.
The third item was ‘Splendid Moon’. Metal shield, legendary grade, increase projectile defense by 35%, melee combat resistance by 40%, slow stamina recovery. 91 points. The final total score was 243.
Fonsaq’s first item was ‘Shade’. Leather cloak, legendary grade, increases movement speed by 41%, wind element magic buff by 40%. 92 points.
The second item was ‘Guardian’. Leather armor, quasi-legendary grade, reduce magic damage by 31%, increases defense against blunt weapon by 35%, and ‘mirror’ which greatly increases the attack reflect chance. 79 points.
The third item was ‘War Intent’. Leather gloves, quasi-legendary grade, increase weapon wielding speed by 30%, magic resistance by 30%, poison immunity. 78 points. The final total score was 249.
Xingxing scored a total of 223; Rummenigge scored a total of 217...
Although Fonsaq was temporarily ranked 1st, Nate was calmer because whether it was Anderson or Fonsaq, although their skills were indeed outstanding, the 3 items were still only single-specialization. His crafting process was very smooth just now, and he had reached the peak stage status. Among these 3 items, 2 were metal proficiency, and 1 was leather proficiency. Even if the basic score was slightly lower than Anderson and Fonsaq, there was an extra 50 points, so he could still safely be number 1.
No doubt, Nate’s score was out. The basic score was 229, the extra score was 50, and the total score was 279, surpassing Fonsaq and ranking first.
“Haha! As I said, I’ll always be number 1, now or in the future!” Nate’s tense nerves relaxed, revealing undisguised ecstasy, “Fonsaq, you lost! I’ll take your life!”
The audience was restless for a while. Top mechanic master Nate no doubt lives up to his reputation. He actually surpassed Fonsaq. According to the contract, Fonsaq’s life...
Fonsaq didn’t show the slightest panic, but gave Nate a disdainful look, “Don’t forget the content of our gambling agreement, I’m betting that you won’t win the first place, not that I win the first place. This contest is not over.”
“Still trying to struggle?” Nate laughed wildly, “Who else besides me...”
Before he could finish speaking, the appraisal master’s exclamation suddenly came from the arbitration panel. Nate was shocked, just in time to catch a glimpse of Fonsaq’s sneer, and an ominous premonition surged in his mind.
Many masters flocked to the arbitration panel with excitement. That near-rude gaffe, almost ignoring the highest leaders of the 3 empires.
The leaders of the 3 empires also expressed surprise as a name appeared on the big screen.
Tetenis.
The first item was untitled, metal pocket knife, excellent grade, 107 points.
The second item was untitled, leather cap, excellent grade, 109 points.
The third item was untitled, magic ring, excellent grade, 103 points.
Base score 319, trio-specialized extra scores 100, final total score, 419.
Tetenis, who had always been known for being proficient in accessories, was actually trio-specialized! And the points were over 100! The most incredible thing was that these equipment were only excellent grade!
The originally noisy arena suddenly became quiet, and the audience’s first reaction was shock. Cheating?
Impossible! Who dares to cheat in front of the leaders of the 3 empires?
That’s right, no one dared to cheat so blatantly. Nate immediately denied the conjecture. According to the rating standards of the appraisal masters, even the top legendary grade equipment cannot exceed 100 points, but quality is not the only criterion for scoring. If this score is not cheating, there is only 1 possibility... Nate suddenly shivered.
There was already a master here shouting, “Grand master! It’s a grand master!”
In an instant, the audience was in a commotion. The Demon Realm has not had a grand master for nearly 10,000 years, and now a mechanic grand master emerges!
Compared with the frenetic atmosphere of the arena, Nate was in despair. Whether it was trio-specialized or duo-specialized, it would be eclipsed in front of the word ‘grand master’. He finally understood why Fonsaq so confidently gambled his life with him previously.
TL: When will Saman and Chen Rui compete?
