Chapter 418 - Enemy Appeared! The Dark Elementals
Chapter 418: Enemy Appeared! The Dark Elementals
Chen Rui immediately said after having the realization, “General Sumen! It is not suitable to stay here for a long time, let’s leave immediately!”
“But Young Master Tagow...”
“With the situation of this dead town, no one can survive. Moreover, for every second we stay here, the danger will further increase. Do you want these loyal soldiers to be buried for your pitiful foolish loyalty?” When Chen Rui yelled, many soldiers showed hostility, but the object of hostility was Chen Rui. They really deserved to be the most loyal soldiers who would go through life and death together with their general.
Sumen noticed the soldiers’ expressions. He sighed and finally decided, “Okay! Everyone line up in 3 rows and leave here immediately!”.
As the black smoke had dispersed and there was no interference power for the time being, Chen Rui’s magic map resumed its effectiveness. The team was actually in the center of the town. It seemed that the pit was nearby, but he didn’t want to take more risk at this time. Athena and Flame Legion were still outside the town. Judging from the current situation, even outside the town was not necessarily safe!
During the transfer, the ground suddenly began to shake as if something was about to break through the ground.
The magic map was once again strongly disturbed and lost its function. Fortunately, Chen Rui had made corresponding marks on the physical map to be on the safe side, so he quickly led Sumen’s army out of the town.
However, those bizarre bone towers began to emit strange power. Although the God-Eating Mask swallowed the power of several bone towers, the power of the artifact was not infinite. He only absorbed the strange power within hundreds of meters just now, but dozens of bone towers were releasing the strange power at the same time now. It coveredalmost a radius of hundreds of kilometers.
The entire sky was shrouded in dim smoke, and the light of the 2 moons could not pass through. The visibility was reduced by 10 times. It was almost impossible to see the direction, and the poison began to spread gradually again.
Fortunately, everyone took the grand master-level recovery potion and detoxification potion in a sober state, so they were able to sustain it for a while. However, the terrain seemed to have changed in the dark; they were lost in a certain kind of maze.
Chen Rui knew that the bone towers were the key. 3 light balls appeared in his hand and flew toward the nearest bone tower. However, the bone tower that was easily disintegrated under the power of the God-Eating Mask was stronger than he expected. [Aurora Shot]’s impact could only shake it slightly and several skeletons fell off, but it did not hurt the root.
Perhaps it was the shock of [Aurora Shot] that caught Paglio’s attention. Chen Rui finally sensed the existence of the poison dragon from the spiritual link. Chen Rui immediately activated his territory power and screamed loudly.
The group of bone towers combined the souls and blood of countless creatures, so the power was very unusual. It could block and disturb the audiovisual signal. Even Paglio couldn’t completely crack it for a while, but Chen Rui’s territory power, that integrated a trace of the power of “rule”, was extraordinary. It straightforwardly penetrated the strange force of the bone towers.
Paglio suddenly sensed it, and quickly approached this direction. Chen Rui only saw the bone towers in front of him collapsed suddenly, and Paglio’s figure had appeared in the air.
Even [Aurora Shot] couldn’t destroy the bone towers, but under the power of Paglio’s peak stage of the Demon Overlord, the towers collapsed completely with just one blow; this was the gap in power difference.
The poison dragon threw a punch in the air again, and the bone tower in front collapsed again. A path suddenly appeared in the misty land enveloped by the black smoke. At this moment, the ground trembled more severely. Paglio seemed to feel something. His face became solemn, and he shouted, “Go all the way to the north now. I will help you clear the way. Rush out of the town as soon as possible and reunite with Athena!”
As soon as he finished speaking, he disappeared in the air. Judging from the detection of Chen Rui’s spiritual link, Paglio should be rushing to the central pit which was the source of the entire strange power.
Paglio’s strength had been restored, and he was not afraid of poison. Even if there was any danger, it should be no problem for him to retreat unless there was a Demi-God powerhouse. Chen Rui made a resolute decision and led Sumen as well as his soldiers toward the exit at full speed.
The black smoke in the air became more and more intense. No one knew how far it could spread. Even the exit path that appeared because of the destruction of the bone towers was quickly closing. Chen Rui suddenly stopped, and he shouted in shock, “Everyone, don’t go yet!”
Now that the black smoke was about to close off the road, it was an urgent situation where they needed to leave immediately, but Sumen was not a reckless person. Knowing that the man in the cloak who came to save them would not say so for no reason at this time, he immediately waved his hand and the soldiers stopped.
“There are enemies! Get ready to fight!” Chen Rui shouted again, and Sumen immediately ordered the soldiers to change the rows into a phalanx. They were ready to deal with the enemies that appeared.
The dense display in the [Analytical Eyes] made Chen Rui frown deeply. It was not because of the number of the opponent, but—
Race: Dark Elemental.
Attribute: Dark Attribute.
He had previously speculated that the cause of the mysterious event might be the undead magicians, but he did not expect that it was actually dark elemental!
Elementals were the products of self-consciousness formed by the condensed essence of the element’s power in nature. Most of them appear in the natural world where the power of the elements was relatively concentrated. Like Chen Rui’s friends, earth elementals, they lived in the underground world of Mountain Xilang.
Elementals did not have lifespan. They were created in the process of condensing elements, and they would die out in the balance of nature. Most of them had the special ability to manipulate the corresponding magic. Due to the different personalities of the elements, they had different abilities. The earth elementals moved at a slower speed, but they had amazing defensive power; wind elementals could fly extremely swiftly; the dark elemental in front of him was relatively balanced in terms of attack and defense. Its attack could apply a debuff, and the advanced dark elemental could also launch powerful dark magic.
The dark elementals were human figures shrouded in black smoke with maroon lights reflecting their vague facial features. Their speed was much faster than the earth elementals. They had appeared nearby in a blink of an eye.
Judging from the data of the [Analytical Eyes], the number that was detected was at least thousands, and the strength was generally around D, which was Higher Demon. There were a small number of C-ranks among them. With this overall strength, let alone the soldiers of the Blue Lava Estate, even the Flame Legion elite soldiers of the Dark Moon were not their opponents. Furthermore, the C-level strength and the D-level strength were not the most powerful ones in this batch of dark elementals!
Without waiting for him to think about it, the dark elementals had come close. When Chen Rui shouted, a faint light appeared in his hand. He had activated [Aura Blade]. As he swayed his arm, several dark elementals that were within six meters around him were cut into half at the same time. They fell to the ground and slowly turned into smoke, leaving only a pile of ash-like debris on the ground.
Strangely, Chen Rui’s palm, which launched [Aura Blade], seemed to be stained with some black breath which slowly penetrated in.
Chen Rui didn’t pay too much attention to it. The [Aura Blade]’s sharp qi was slashing everywhere. Coupled with [Aurora Shot] whistling everywhere, he was invincible for a while.
These dark elemental strengths could only be considered low compared to him, but they surrounded from all directions, and the soldiers were not opponents at all. Under Sumen’s loud command, they barely maintained the defense line; the number of casualties increased rapidly.
To make matters worse, the eyes of the soldiers who killed the dark elementals gradually glowed strangely, then their entire eyes became jet black. It was somewhat similar to the Leviathan Royal Family when they launched [The Eye of Incubus]. Strangely, these soldiers had greatly increased their strength, and they had become crazy as they began to kill their own companions.
Different from the defense of the earth elementals, the speed of the wind elementals, and the attack characteristics of the fire elementals, the dark elementals had a very special attribute in addition to the corresponding debuff, which was [Punishment].
Killing the life form of the dark elementals would be eroded in revenge by the power of the dark element. Those who did not have a strong willpower would easily lose themselves. They would become a crazy killing machine and finally died in madness.
Soldiers whose morale was greatly reduced due to the negative power brought by the dark elementals were all discouraged when they encountered this situation. Fortunately, Sumen killed those soldiers who had gone mad, and he barely stabilized the situation.
If Chen Rui only needed to protect Sumen alone, even if there were more dark elementals like this, there should be no problem, but there were more than 1,000 soldiers here.
Although Chen Rui killed a lot of dark elementals, the amount of these enemies kept increasing, and the level of strength was gradually increasing. There were already dark elementals of the B-level, Great Demon Kings.
These Great Demon King-level elite dark elementals were quite intelligent. After discovering Chen Rui’s power, some launched long-range magic attacks, while others released a boosting magic like [Nightmare Enchantment] which greatly strengthened the dark elemental attacks. The number of soldiers’ deaths had risen again. In a short period of time, there had been hundreds of corpses of the Blue Lava Estate Army on the ground.
Even Sumen himself was seriously injured by a Great Demon King-level dark elemental who launched [Dark Blood Scythe]. If Chen Rui hadn’t arrived in time and beheaded the opponent, he would have died.
Chen Rui knew that the situation was critical. As he yelled, a long sword appeared in his hand. It was 3 feet 6 inches long and was glowing with a light purple color. The sword hilt was cyan. It was the artifact, “Northsea”.
When he channeled power into the sword, the purple light on the tip of the sword suddenly skyrocketed by 3 feet like an extended tail. This sword was extremely sharp; even beyond [Aura Blade]. Its slightest movement could tear apart the dark elementals nearby. “Northsea” had the feature of doubling the swordsmanship proficiency, making the control more handy.
Under the path opening of this fortified sword, the desperately escaping soldiers finally came to the exit of Town Lupin. At this time, there were only around 700 people left. However, the scene in front of them shocked everyone again. The exit point was being shrouded by dark elementals.
Chen Rui grasped the Northsea tightly. The dark elementals which had been hidden in the town, actually launched an attack to the outside. The Dark Moon Army and Athena are in danger!
The protective magic of the exit point had been completely cracked. Behind the exit point, arrows were continuously shot and bursting sounds were heard, killing and injuring a lot of dark elementals- The unique explosive crossbow of the Dark Moon!
At this time, Northsea’s purple light suddenly began to flow. It turned out that this artifact had the special characteristic of [Energy Accumulation] which absorbed the enemy’s power. The [Punishment] characteristic of dark elements seemed to have a special effect on this [Energy Accumulation]. After an intense fight all the way, the energy had actually been charged. He could actually launch the attack technique, [Flow Back to Origin]!
In an instant, the dazzling brilliance in the sky attracted almost everyone’s attention.
The purple sword body exploded out countless meteor-like rays which formed a fan shape that spread forward. The rays penetrated one after another dark elementals. After the dispersed meteors drew a beautiful arc, they once again converged into a huge sword form. With a “swoosh” sound, the sword shape flew forward at a terrifying speed and momentum. Wherever it passed, everything turned into dust and disappeared.
A terrifying mark appeared on the ground. The entire dense lineup of dark elementals was cleared out. First, it was a big circle, then a wide and straight passage; there was no living enemy in it.
This magnificent and terrifying [Flow Back to Origin] made Sumen stunned, This... is this the power that a Demon Emperor can cast?
Only at this point of time did he really understand why the 100,000 army of the Blue Lava Estate would be wiped out in the Dark Moon. A deputy legion leader of the legion, the nameless Aguile, has such power! This sword, not to mention Mallorca, the strongest Double-headed Dragon Legion leader of the Blue Lava Estate at the time, even the Blue Lava Estate Lord himself, Titan, can’t handle it!
In fact, Sumen was wrong. This blow was not Chen Rui’s own power, but the artifact’s secret power, [Energy Accumulation].
The real destruction of the entire Blue Lava Army was a more “low-key” undead magic and... a sea of undead which was more than the dark elementals in front of them now.
Chen Rui himself was a little surprised. He didn’t expect [Flow Back to Origin] to be so powerful. The durability and power of this trick was inferior to that of [Scorching Dragon Kill], but it was an energy accumulation technique that could be used continuously. As long as the sword absorbed the opponent’s power to a certain extent, it could be launched again.
As Chen Rui had eliminated so many dark elementals, there was even more [Punishment] attribute accumulated. He had realized the black breath merged into his body, but unlike the anomalies of those soldiers, these black breath seemed to have no effect on him.
Chen Rui didn’t have the time to think about it. With the huge deterrent of this attack, he quickly rushed out with Sumen’s remaining soldiers and finally reunited with Athena.
Judging from the current situation, the dark elementals had faintly surpassed the number of the earth elementals in Mountain Xilang. Of course, the earth elementals had suffered extremely heavy losses in the fight against the various underground tribes due to the control of Glorfin 400 years ago. Even if the Earth Realm could condense earth elements to generate new elementals, its strength and quantity were far behind the loss.
Moreover, the creation time of the Earth Elemental King Moore in Mountain Xilang was not very long, and the elite elementals around him were far less than the dark elementals in front of them.
The dark elementals suddenly attacked the Flame Legion when the situation changed not long ago. Fortunately, the magic circles blocking in front of them gave Athena time to urgently deploy a line of defense. Due to the powerful strength of the enemy, she adopted the tactics of explosive crossbow and long-range strikes with bows and arrows. Although there were still casualties, it was much less than the Blue Lava Estate Army, which was far stronger in discipline and combat power.
However, the characteristic of the dark elementals’ [Punishment] was too special. Many of the soldiers who killed the enemy showed symptoms similar to the soldiers of the Blue Lava Estate previously. If they were not knocked out in time by Athena, they would cause more panic.
Even Athena herself, who had killed several high grade dark elementals, felt some discomfort. Fortunately, her consciousness was very strong, and part of her body equipment also had the function of calming her mind, so she was not really impacted.
Although the power of [Flow Back to Origin] was amazing, the dark elementals were not afraid. They continued to start a fierce siege, and the number was still increasing.
The situation in front of them seemed extremely dire.
Would Shura inside Chen Rui be affected by the [Punishment]?
