Chapter 309 - Terror Knight and an “Old Friend”
A dozen of floating figures stopped Chen Rui’s path at the foot of the mountain.

Chen Rui learned a lot about undead magic from Paglio, but it was the first time he saw phantoms. They were quite similar to the mythical ghosts from his previous life. He took a second look at them curiously. These phantoms looked like ordinary people, and their bodies were semi-transparent. Especially the part below the knee which did not seem solid; it looked very strange.
There was a mutated phantom leader who had reached C-, Demon King level. It was the first that drift toward Chen Rui. Its speed was very agile.
Chen Rui jumped off the little black horse and punched toward the phantom, but the fist seemed to hit the illusory figure and passed through. However, the phantom’s attack was definitely not illusory. As it skimmed over his arm, a faint blood stain appeared, and it was tingling. It seemed that the attack was poisonous. However, this mere poison had no effect on Chen Rui. Its attack could only cut a little skin.
Chen Rui attacked again with another punch. The punch did not miss this time. It felt like he had hit a piece of cotton or fabric, and the force couldn’t be exerted on it.
After the phantom was hit, it cried miserably. Its whole body twisted and vanished into thin air. It turned out that the blue electric sparks emitted from the fist was the additional effect of the Thunderous Sound. Together with the attribute of dealing 220%damage to the undead, this phantom leader was killed in one blow.
At the same time, a roar came from a room, “Which damn guy destroyed my mutated phantom leader?!”
The phantom was an undead transformed from a deceased person who had a strong spirit during his lifetime. It had a strong immunity to physical damage, and it was sometimes invulnerable. This was the case of Chen Rui’s first punch. Although the power of the second punch was weakened by half, the special effect of Thunderous Sound and the huge difference in strength between the two sides caused the phantom leader to be killed outright.
Mutated phantom leaders were rare, so this magician was very furious.
“Alahan, get this guy for me immediately! Even if he’s dead, I want his corpse!”
Beside him, a black-armored man nodded slightly and turned away.
After Chen Rui wiped out the phantom leader, he punched in succession to kill the phantoms that surrounded the little black horse because he feared that the little black horse would be hurt. He rode forward for a while. All of a sudden, the little black horse looked vigilant and stopped its pace.
A black figure appeared on the hillside in front of them. This guy was completely covered in black armor. Chen Rui could not see his true face. He was riding a horse which was also black. His dark eyes were emitting gruesome cold light.

Race: Phantom Horse (Undead), Comprehensive Strength Assessment: C. Physique: C+, Strength: C, Spirit: D, Agility: C.
The terror knight was made from the special soul of a deceased and corpses. During his lifetime, he was a powerful knight. Due to some kind of willpower or curse, his soul could not be dissipated. Resurrected with the undead body, he used resentment and killing as the source of strength. He had strong strength and combat skill.
The terror knight was the highest grade creature that undead magic could produce. The achievements of the magicians who could create terror knights could be described as the top in undead magic. Particularly, the terror knight in front of him also had Great Demon King-level strength. This trip to Town Yankou with Athena seemed to be the most appropriate choice. Otherwise, she would encounter unpredictable danger.
The terror knight did not speak, and a spear appeared in his hand. He directly rode the phantom horse toward Chen Rui. This combination of an individual power and horsepower was very impactful. Chen Rui did not dare to take it head on, so he dodged with the little black horse.
With [Analytical Eyes]’s communication ability, his tacit understanding with the little black horse was very good. However, this kind of horse riding combat was indeed out of his league. The strength and quality of the terror knight himself had reached the peak of the Great Demon King. Plus the unity of the individual and horse, the impact was really not suitable for head on battle.
After the opponent evaded several times, a red light flashed in the terror knight’s eyes. He seemed to be mocking Chen Rui’s cowardice. Chen Rui waved his hand, the terror knight felt that his speed suddenly slowed down. The horsepower advantage could not be exerted, so he immediately pulled the rein and jumped off the horse. The spear in his hand had been replaced by a long sword, and he walked toward Chen Rui.
Chen Rui did not retreat. He told the little black horse to leave, and he went toward the terror knight. The terror knight exuded delusive black mist. His originally slow movement suddenly accelerated a lot.
Weakening the effectiveness of magic? Is it a talent or magic? Chen Rui was secretly surprised. Before he could think much, the sword of the terror knight had slashed over with terrifying breath. It seemed that the effectiveness of [Decelerate] was greatly reduced. Chen Rui had not used [Aura Blade] yet. A rare sword appeared in his hand. The two swords clashed, and suddenly there was spark everywhere. Chen Rui took 4 steps back to stabilize his body, while the terror knight just swayed a little. After a while, it seemed that Chen Rui was indeed inferior in terms of strength.
However, the battle was not solely based on strength. Stridebug appeared at Chen Rui’s feet. Along with the acceleration of Thunderous Sound as well as the remaining decelerate effect on the terror knight, Chen Rui’s speed was obviously faster than his opponent other side. His long sword attacked the opponent like a storm. He had quite a style of aswordsman.
On the other side, the phantom horse also targeted the little black horse and rushed toward it. This time, the little black horse did not give way like the last time. Its body suddenly became the real figure of Incubus Beast.
“Incubus Beast!” The magician who was using magic to watch the battle from a distance exclaimed. There was ecstasy in his voice, “Incubus Beast will definitely make the best phantom horse! Even if only the skeleton remains, it is also the best quality material for skeletal warhorse!”
The little black horse’s transformation was completed in an instant. It collided with the phantom horse. The phantom horse staggered back and sent out a strange force of spiritual oppression. However, the little black horse was completely immune to spirit techniques. Similarly, due to the special characteristics of the undead, the little black horse’s [Terror] talent had no effect on the phantom horse. Nonetheless, the little black horse’s talent was more than just [Terror].
As the blue electric light flashed, a blue arc emerged around the phantom horse. Its movement was stiffened for a moment, while the little black horse had rushed over like the wind. It turned abruptly and made a back kick, hitting directly at the phantom horse’s abdomen and sending it far away. The phantom horse was shaky and barely stood firm. If it was an ordinary demonic beast, it might be seriously injured this time, but the undead had no pain. Therefore, after standing steadily, the phantom horse rushed toward the little black horse again. However, it was obvious that the phantom horse was suppressed in absolute disadvantage whether in terms of talent, attack or strength.
“Incubus Beast of mutated bloodline!” The undead magician’s voice was even more excited, “I must get it!”
Compared with the little black horse’s advantage, Chen Rui’s battle situation seemed to be more challenging. Although he was still faster than the terror knight, his swordsmanship was indeed far behind. The terrorist knight could hit him at key points with just a thrust. Chen Rui’s swordsmanship was taught by Athena. It was mainly based on some basic offensive and defensive movements as well as timing. This was still sufficient to deal with ordinary opponents. However, the swordsmanship of the terror knight in front of him was probably beyond Athena. Chen Rui was obviously not an opponent.
“Ding!” The sword in Chen Rui’s hand had been blown away, but this was a flaw he deliberately exposed. The real killing moved was the hand without the sword. With a glowing light, it slashed toward the terror knight’s head. The terror knight’s sword miraculously returned to his front again. The knight blocked horizontally, but it only stopped the physical palm. The invisible sharp qi had penetrated the long sword and swept past the terror knight’s neck.
The knight’s head suddenly flew up along with his head-armor. It fell to the ground with a “thud” sound, but no blood was spotted. While Chen Rui was stunned, the long sword in the hands of the terror knight, who had lost his head, twisted rapidly into a dark arc that shrouded himself. The terror knight was actually not affected at all.
Chen Rui teleported a step late, and blood had spattered from his arm. Then, an uncomfortable feeling came from the wound. It seemed like he was invaded by some corrosive force. Fortunately, he had a special physique. He soon dispelled that force.
At this moment, the scene suddenly became dark and foggy. A figure appeared from the dark fog. He was wearing a black cloak, and looked very eerie.
Chen Rui leaped and distanced himself from the terror knight. He motioned the little black horse to come back to his side. The terror knight did not chase. He walked to the side and picked up the head armor. There seemed to be nothing in it, but when the head armor was connected, it emitted a faint red light again.
Race: Corpse Necromancer (Projection). Comprehensive strength: B.
It turns out that this undead magician is a corpse necromancer. Plus, the one in front of me is a projection! Chen Rui suddenly felt a strangely familiar feeling.
“Who are you? You even broke into my forbidden land! If you want to survive, present me your Incubus Beast and submit to me!”
Chen Rui took a deep breath and quickly circulated the power of his body. It was this voice! It really is that “old friend”!
Not only this old friend was not a stranger to Chen Rui, but also to Roman, Delia and even Paglio.
Roman, Delia and Chem Rui got “acquainted” with him in the Silent Night Wetland, while Paglio had “intersection” with this old friend many years ago – 2000 years ago. The most outstanding master of dark magic, Guradam, the undead magic master!.
2000 years ago, Guradam discovered the Fountain of Vitality in Silent Night Wetland and killed the original occupant to make it his secret training place. Unexpectedly, a more ruthless character came later to kill Guradam. The Fountain of Vitality’s underground caves served as a place for him to place his treasures. This “ruthless character” was Paglio. However, Paglio did not expect that Guradam, who was easily exterminated by him, could use the undead magic to fake death. Then, under the condition of being imprisoned in the treasure cave, Guradam took a great risk to transform his body into an undead corpse necromancer. As a result, Chen Rui nearly lost his life in the hands of Guradam while searching for treasures. Eventually, Chen Rui inflicted serious injury on Guradam with the resurrection potion and successfully escaped with the treasures.
Corpse necromancer, Guradam, was the director of the entire undead incidents in Town Yankou!
Poor Guradam had to face his nemesis again 😢.
