Chapter 356: Prison
In Chen Rui’s eyes, Isabella’s beautiful face was full of anxiety and worry. There seemed to be no flaws.
Chen Rui shifted his mind and shook his head resolutely, “No! I haven’t completed the mission of my family; I haven’t achieved the real wish in my heart, and...”
As Isabella was about to speak, suddenly her hand was tight. She was already grasped by Chen Rui, then his 2 fiery eyes gazed at her, “I haven’t gone to the Holy Light Mountain to personally pluck the Snow Dallet flower for you yet! Therefore, I will never leave like this!”
Isabella felt the heat coming from her hands. When she heard the 2 two sentences, her blue eyes finally moved slightly. There was a hint of shock.
Chen Rui already felt someone hurriedly approaching from the outside. His mind shifted, and he held her hand tightly as he added, “Yini, actually I...”
“Madam!” A maid who rushed in saw Chen Rui holding Isabella’s hand, so she was taken aback, but there was still a little panic on her face, “Bad news! General Doren personally brought the imperial guards. They have already surrounded this place!”
While Isabella was shocked from the news, she felt a box in her hand. The pair of fiery hands had been released.
“Yini, go and see the regent in a while and give him the contents of this box personally. Tell him it is a gift I brought this time. This may be the only turning point for me! Be sure to remember to hand it to Royal Highness Obsidian yourself!”
Before Isabella could speak, another maid hurriedly reported, “General Doren has broken in!”
Chen Rui took a deep breath and gave her a ‘don’t worry’ look. A bell-like voice sounded, echoing throughout the house, “Lady Isabella, I was ordered by the regent to lead the army to arrest the suspect, Charles. Madam, please capture this person quickly so as not to hurt the innocent in the house.”
The voice appeared in front of his eyes instantly. It was a strong man with a tall stature wearing dark red armor. He had a moustache. His eyes with sharp gaze were somewhat similar to Sergey. It was Sergey’s father, Doren. Rus, the second general of the empire. He was followed by a group of heavily armed soldiers.
The [Analytical Eyes] showed – Race: Great Demon (mutated). Comprehensive Strength Assessment: A. Physique: A, Strength: A, Spirit: A, Agility: A.
Mutated Great Demons that could reach the top were all the outstanding ones with rich battle experience. Their actual combat power was even higher than the ordinary royal family. Doren’s strength was at the intermediate stage of the Demon Emperor. He was still weaker than Athena’s father, General George. But after all, his father-in-law should be close to Demon Overlord now...
“It turns out to be the famous General Doren. We met once at the last ball. You came at the right time. I had already been caught by Miss Isabella.” Chen Rui smiled calmly as though he did not realize the catastrophe he had caused.
With a wave of Doren’s hand, several guards came up fiercely to capture Chen Rui. When Chen Rui’s eyes moved, the guards felt a terrifying breath coming. They shivered simultaneously and dared not step forward.
Doren frowned. As he was about to make a move, Chen Rui said, “I can go by myself.”
After speaking, without looking at Isabella, he walked out without looking back. Doren nodded slightly to Isabella and followed suit.
Walking outside, Doren said, “Sir Charles, no matter what, your courage is admirable. But I’m acting according to orders. Before your incident is finalized, it is best not to let any unpleasant things occur between us.”
“As a high rank consultant of the palace, I think I have the right to meet Royal Highness Obsidian to explain some things clearly.”
Doren thought for a moment and nodded, “Before that, you must put on these imprisonment shackles now. This is the rule.”
Chen Rui watched the guard holding the crimson shackles on a plate. His hands that were slowly stretching out paused for a moment. This made Doren pupils, who had been closely following his movements, slightly contracted. He was ready to launch an attack.
At this moment, Chen Rui did not escape or resist as he expected. Instead, he obediently let the guard put the shackles on before activating the magic circle above one by one.
Although Doren was surprised, he still breathed a sigh of relief. After all, this “Charles” can kill Lestin and 3 others. He is most likely a Demon Emperor level powerhouse. If he really wants to fight back, I’m afraid I will need to break a sweat.
“Can I go to see the Royal Highness Obsidian now?”
“Unfortunately, people who wear the shackles don’t have the right to speak.” Doren’s facial expression immediately changed. There was a hint of coldness in hazy eyes. Since the opponent has been imprisoned by the shackles with activated magic circles, he is no threat at all.
This pair of shackles was specially made with superb magic materials. It could greatly reduce the power of those who was imprisoned, so he couldn’t use talents or magic. It had a special restraining function for the use of territory. Even a Demon Overlord couldn’t break free. Of course, since it would take a long time to activate the magic circles, it was not suitable for use in battle unless it was put on without resistance like Chen Rui just now.
This answer made Chen Rui silent. In fact, these changes were expected, but Doren didn’t know that over a year ago, there was a similar shackle on this man’s hand. The gold crystal shackles was then completely transformed into aura. This pair of shackles was also of the same nature. Chen Rui felt the transformation prompt in the Super System just now, so he put on the shackles without resisting. If he wanted to, he could turn these shackles that could imprison a Demon Overlord into a bunch of valuable “magic dust”.
Doren led the imperial guards to bring him all the way to a well-guarded place in the inner city. It was the secret prison for serious criminals.
“General Doren!” Upon hearing the news, a fat guy greeted him quickly, nodding and bowing to Doren.
“Warden Kabang, this is Charles, the major suspect who killed the three major elder family members. You take him to the 13th independent prison now. During this period, no one can visit him without the order of the regent! Including Lady Isabella!”
This is the daring Charles... who was even said to have hooked up the Imperial City’s Flower!
And... Prison 13?
“Yes sir!” The fat man was taken aback and didn’t dare to ask more. He immediately led some people to bring Chen Rui to the heavily sentried secret prison. The soldiers were patrolling in order, and the security was quite tight. Walking into that passage, one could smell a damp and pungent smell. One could also faintly hear the sound of whipping and wailing in the distance.
“I’m called Kabang, the warden here. In this secret prison, I’m the most powerful!” As soon as the fat man entered the jail, he suddenly lost the respectful obedience when facing Doren. He completely changed his attitude, “It doesn’t matter who you are before entering this place. Throw all your original dignity and nobility under your ass!”
After listening to the fat man’s announcement, Chen Rui nodded very cooperatively, “Sir Kabang, I understand.”
A cold light flashed in Kabang’s small eyes. The prisoners are either arrogant, sorrowful or fearful. The indifference that Charles showed is the most annoying one. Many people came in like this too, but I believe that this nasty expression will turn into begging and pity soon because this guy is going to Prison 13.
The prisons along the way looked dark and filthy. Some prisoners saw someone coming and immediately called out loudly or even stretched out their hands to grab something while some lay and sat in the cage numbly as if they had lost all hope. The more scary thing was the torture room with the most cruel sights and ear-percing sounds. The wailing sounds from afar made even the onlookers shudder with empathy.
As for the female prisoners, the tragic treatment they had received was almost beyond words.
In fact, these prisons along the way were all relatively ordinary prisoners who could be arbitrarily humiliated and tortured. This method was mainly a deliberate show of strength as a warning. The felons of the real secret prison might be influential individuals, or those with the possibility of turning over. Unless there was a specifical instruction by the superior, they would not be treated badly. The Charles in front of him killed the 3 major elder families members and the royal family including the heir of the Lincoln Family. Obviously, he was not included in this category, but Prison 13 itself was a “natural” hell. Even extra torture was not needed.
Having said that, a person who could brutally kill the 3 elder families members, especially Lestin, was indeed very fierce and powerful... The fat man still had a degree of fear in his heart for fierce people, but he caught a glimpse of the shackles on Chen Rui’s hands, so he was a little bit more emboldened.
“Okay, hand over all the belongings on your body now. They will be returned to you when you are released.
“Of course, but there are very important items. You must keep them safely, otherwise you can’t handle the consequences.” Chen Rui took off the space ring from his finger without thinking. “Remember to give it back to me untouched when I am released.”
When the fat man heard that he had valuables, he became greedy. He ignored the following words – A man who is almost 100% on death row still wants to be released?
Prison 13 was a separate prison. To be precise, it was located underground. One could see complicated magic circle marks along the way. Although this place looked cold and humid, it didn’t have a rotten stench. It seemed quite tidy and relatively spacious. There was no one else in the cage. Chen Rui was the only “resident”.
“Sir Charles, please.”
When Chen Rui walked in slowly, the cell door closed automatically. Kabang showed a weird smile, “Slowly enjoy your remaining few good days, sir.”
After that, the fat man turned away and left. He couldn’t wait to count the belongings in the space ring he just got.
The cage began to show a strange light. Chen Rui felt that his body sank. He was actually dozens of times heavier all of a sudden. It turned out to be a gravity cage.
Although Chen Rui’s power was mostly restrained by the shackles, he had been training for “years” on the gravity training ground. This level was just a breeze. After turning his mind, he sat down cross-legged.
Soon, there was another warning of toxin intrusion from the Super System. It seemed that this Prison 13 was really extraordinary. However, the toxin... was just increasing the amount of aura. Chen Rui did not resist what was coming. No matter how small it was, it was still a benefit.
The “treatment” of Prison 13 was much more than that. The magic circle of the cage could further limit and weaken the prisoner’s power. In addition to gravity and toxins, there would be [Thunder] every hour. The internal and external suffering made it difficult to endure.
This prison was built specifically to imprison powerhouses. It could destroy the will and strength of the imprisoned step by step. Under the loss of strength, the torment of gravity alone was enough to make it unbearable for any powerhouse.
For Chen Rui, gravity and toxins were basically nothing. Although [Thunder] was a bit troublesome, the physique of [Anti-Magic] and [Damage Absorption] minimized this trouble. Compared with the [Thunder] of the fairy dragon, these thunders could only help him kill the bacteria in his body.
Now, he just had to relax and wait for Isabella to hand over the things to Obsidian. Killing the heir and key members of the elder family was indeed a major crime, but he believed Obsidian wouldn’t refuse the temptation of “profit”. Even if he really caused a huge trouble, probably Obsidian would also make a guest appearance as the Demon Realm’s male version of Goddess Nuwa. [1]

“Elder family sir and madam, Charles have been taken to the secret prison by General Doren. According to Warden Kabang, he has been imprisoned in Prison 13. The magic circle of the prison has been fully activated.”
The woman on the side gritted her teeth and exclaimed, “Great! Sartre, you should contact that Kabang now to torture Charles severely. We must not let this murderer of our child die too easily!”
“Don’t be hurry!” The Lincoln Family patriarch, Sartre, looked calmer with a sneer on his face, “Prison 13 was built by a grand master and several masters tens of thousands of years ago. This is the only special place in the entire empire. Staying there is more excruciating than any torture. The toxin in the prison alone can erode his power gradually. Even if he is a Demon Overlord powerhouse, he can’t resist it when he is being imprisoned. Let him enjoy it for a few days, then we will go to ‘visit’ the sir high rank consultant. I believe it’s not just our family who has this idea.”
“By the way, is there any reaction from Isabella?” Sartre asked, “Did she go to see the regent to intercede?”
“It’s strange. She doesn’t seem to be doing anything.”
“You go down first. Continue to monitor her closely. Report back as soon as there is any movement!”
“Ok!”
Capital inner city, Isabella’s mansion.
Isabella was sitting in the room with an open box on the table.
She was the only person in the entire room.
Her white jade-like hand was holding something. The shock on her face just now gradually faded away. She closed her beautiful eyes gently. The man’s words appeared in her mind again.
“The lady I miss every day...”
“I haven’t gone to the Holy Light Mountain to personally pluck the Snow Dallet flower for you yet...”
After a long time, her slender eyelashes were slightly raised, revealing emerald-like eyes. A faint sadness appeared in those eyes, then it turned into a kind of loneliness before finally returning to coldness.
With a “bang“, the object in her hand was shattered. The dark liquid spilled on the ground through her fingers. It immersed into the ground and disappeared without a trace.
[1] Goddess Nuwa was a goddess in Chinese mythology who mends a hole in the sky (symbolizing huge trouble).
