Following the familiar route, Lin Jiang drove to the Qin Sisters’ home.
"Brother Jiang!"
He had just parked when Qin Youyou appeared outside his car window.
Although he had contacted Qin Yangyang, the one who came out to greet him was Qin Youyou. Without a doubt, Qin Yangyang was being kept at home.
The only person with that kind of power had to be Jiang Rongmin.
Constantly pulling stunts like this was making things a little difficult for Qin Yangyang.
After getting out of the car, Lin Jiang took the things he had prepared beforehand and followed Qin Youyou upstairs.
"Xiaojiang is here."
After the door opened, Qin Zhengqing sat up from the sofa.
"Uncle Qin, Aunt Jiang."
"Come on in."
Jiang Rongmin, dressed in comfortable pajamas, welcomed Lin Jiang inside.
Once inside, Lin Jiang didn’t see Qin Yangyang in the living room. He glanced back toward the kitchen and saw her and Aunt Chen busy with dinner, her expression rather intriguing.
With everyone present, dinner began.
As always, Qin Youyou sat next to Lin Jiang, while Qin Yangyang, acting as if nothing was wrong, sat next to Aunt Chen.
’It’s always the calm before the storm. I probably won’t be able to leave tonight. When the house is quiet, that’s when she’ll have her reckoning.’
"I heard the city leaders paid a visit to Mu Xing. How did the meeting go?" Qin Zhengqing asked.
"Everything went smoothly. Not only did they approve a plot of land for us, but they also gave us a one-hundred-million-yuan interest-free loan. We plan to use this opportunity to expand over the next year and open about 1,000 self-operated Mu Xing stores."
"That’s no small challenge. Even with a one-hundred-million-yuan interest-free loan, there are still significant risks," Qin Zhengqing said.
"You need to think this through carefully. You can take the land, but bank money isn’t so easy to take."
Jiang Rongmin said:
"Banks are happy to help when things are going well, but they won’t lift a finger when you’re in trouble. The moment you run into risks, they’ll be demanding repayment. I learned that lesson the hard way back in the day."
"Given Mu Xing’s quality and prices, the possibility of risk is low. Besides, with Uncle Qin and Aunt Jiang behind me, even if there are risks, I’m sure we can weather any storm."
"You sure have a way with words, kid."
Qin Zhengqing smiled and raised his glass. "Come, let’s have a drink."
Lin Jiang lowered the rim of his cup. "To you, Uncle Qin."
The two clinked their glasses, and Lin Jiang drained his in one go.
Qin Youyou, ever perceptive, took the bottle and refilled Lin Jiang’s glass.
Suddenly, Lin Jiang felt a hostile gaze on him.
Qin Yangyang picked up a piece of a cold dish and chewed it slowly. Under the table, however, she was anything but still. Her foot was rubbing against his thigh so insistently he thought it might catch fire.
Putting down his glass, Qin Zhengqing said:
"You missed the shareholders’ meeting the other day, so I won’t go over the other details, but your dividend is 55.94 million yuan. With this money, you’ll have a bit more breathing room. Whether it’s for Mu Xing or Berkeley, if you need financial support, just let us know."
"Thank you, Uncle Qin."
"I heard Huipin City opened today. Their model is the same as yours. Has it had an impact on Shell?" Jiang Rongmin asked.
"Some, but not much. And I think this impact is only temporary. A long road tests a horse’s strength, and time reveals true character. A momentary squall like this is nothing in my eyes."
"But don’t forget, you’re up against the entire Huipin Group. Are you still confident?"
"Ten years ago, I definitely wouldn’t have been. But this is the age of the mobile internet. In the real world, they’re capital tycoons, and ordinary people, or a Basic entrepreneur like me, might never even get a chance to sit at the same table with them. But in the internet age, nobody cares who you are. As long as you serve your users well, Berkeley won’t fall," Lin Jiang said.
"But you won’t be able to maintain high profit margins."
"I’m a firm believer in the idea that money spent will eventually return. The profits I’m sacrificing in this area will one day flow back to me in another form."
"Well said!"
Qin Zhengqing laughed heartily.
"In all my years, I’ve met plenty of young people, but you’re the first one I’ve seen with this kind of thinking. I’m telling you right now, you absolutely have a bright future ahead of you."
"Thank you, Uncle Qin."
The two men drained their glasses, and Qin Youyou once again refilled Lin Jiang’s.
Jiang Rongmin, sitting beside them like a proud mother-in-law, had a look of deep gratification on her face.
The family dinner continued until after eight in the evening.
Both Lin Jiang and Qin Zhengqing had had quite a bit to drink.
"Youyou, take your Brother Jiang to a room to rest for a bit," Jiang Rongmin said.
"I’ll go make some sobering tea for our son-in-law."
"Mm."
The tag team of Jiang Rongmin and Aunt Chen nearly made Qin Yangyang see red. She plopped herself onto the sofa to watch TV, pretending to be completely unbothered.
Very naturally, Qin Youyou helped Lin Jiang to her room.
As he left, Lin Jiang shot a glance at Qin Yangyang with a highly amusing expression, filling the entire room with the scent of jealousy.
"That kid, Lin Jiang, his way of thinking really is on another level," Jiang Rongmin said admiringly.
"Forget about young people his age; even among our generation, very few have his kind of vision and magnanimity."
Qin Yangyang tilted her head. In all these years, it was the first time she had ever seen her mother praise someone so highly.
At that thought, Qin Yangyang’s heart swelled with delight.
She was naturally happy that the man she liked had earned her parents’ approval.
But Jiang Rongmin’s next words were like a bucket of cold water poured over her.
"Now that the two of them are on the right track, I won’t have to worry about her anymore after they get married."
