Lin Jiang and the gathered leaders all looked toward Lin Jiansheng and Wang Jilong.
The meeting had already been paused half a minute ago.
The shouting from outside had soured the expressions of every leader present.
"What do you think you’re doing!"
Huang Youwei shot to his feet. With so many officials here, he felt like killing someone.
The two men froze, not daring to utter a word.
Wang Jilong might be a brute, but he wasn’t a fool. He knew exactly what kind of people wore those official-looking jackets.
Lin Jiansheng, being a veteran gangster himself, knew even better how much power these men wielded. A single one of them could crush him and leave him with broken bones.
And that man, Lin Jiang, was sitting right next to these leaders. His status made Lin Jiansheng’s heart pound with dread.
"Brother Jiang..."
Yang Tao and the other two followed him in, leaning close to Lin Jiang to whisper:
"Brother Jiang, that’s Lin Jiansheng. The fleshy woman from yesterday is his daughter."
Lin Jiang nodded and whispered into the leader’s ear:
"Sir, he’s the owner of Night Charm KTV. He wants to buy one of my properties, but I refused. It led to a small disagreement, and now they’ve shown up at my door. I’ll get rid of them right away."
Lin Jiansheng’s face turned green. He was so scared he nearly had a heart attack.
’If I don’t say something now, I’m really done for.’
"Leaders, I am so sorry. This is all a misunderstanding. I’m truly sorry for interrupting your meeting."
Bowing and apologizing profusely, Lin Jiansheng hastily backed out of the room. He Jing followed him out.
"Brother Yang, you all can head back first. I’ll handle things here."
He Jing was very smart and knew how to read people.
She knew Yang Tao and the other two were Lin Jiang’s trusted men, so she treated them very well and was extremely polite.
Yang Tao might not be educated, but he was a sharp guy.
The people in the conference room were clearly officials. Since Brother Jiang was with them, he would obviously be fine. There was no need for them to stand guard.
"Alright, we’ll get going then."
"Okay, sounds good."
Once the three had left, He Jing’s expression changed instantly. She walked up to Lin Jiansheng and Wang Jilong.
"Who in the world do you think you are! Is this a place you can just barge into?!"
He Jing didn’t hold back at all. She didn’t care who they were and started dressing them down as if they were her own sons.
Lin Jiansheng’s old face sagged. Still reeling from the shock, he didn’t dare talk back.
He took the scolding like a chastened grandson.
"Let me ask you something. Lin Jiang is just a noodle shop owner. Why is he in a meeting here?"
"Who told you President Lin is a noodle shop owner? He’s the president of our Berkeley! What is wrong with you people, daring to show up here shouting for President Lin! Do you have any idea who is in that room? Do you know how much of a negative impact this will have on our mall?!"
"Your... your mall’s president?"
"Are you deaf?! President Lin spent 1.28 billion to acquire Berkeley! If he’s not the president, then what is he?!
1.28 billion!
Acquired Berkeley!
These words exploded in their minds like a nuclear bomb.
Their entire net worth wasn’t even a fraction of that amount. The number 1.28 billion was an unattainable height for them.
"Master Lin!"
Lin Jiansheng’s vision went black. Luckily, Wang Jilong reacted quickly and caught him before he could fall to the ground.
At this very moment, a single thought echoed in his mind.
’He’s untouchable.’
"You need to leave now. Don’t delay President Lin’s meeting."
"Okay, okay, we’re leaving right now."
Wang Jilong supported Lin Jiansheng as they shakily made their way up the stairs. They didn’t dare to imagine what would happen next.
They took the elevator down to the first floor and returned to the noodle shop. Lin Qiangwei was still eating her meal.
"You’re back so soon? How did the talk go?"
Lin Qiangwei slurped her plum juice. Her intuition told her the negotiation hadn’t gone well. In fact, it was very likely they had gotten the short end of the stick, or else her dad wouldn’t have that look on his face.
"Sigh..."
Lin Jiansheng didn’t say a word, just let out a deep sigh.
A hint of hesitation appeared on Lin Qiangwei’s face.
She had a feeling that the situation was more complicated than she had imagined. Otherwise, her father wouldn’t be acting like this.
"Brother Long, what happened?"
"Well..."
Over the next few minutes, Wang Jilong recounted what had just happened to Lin Qiangwei.
After hearing the story, the color drained from her face.
"He actually acquired Berkeley!"
Lin Qiangwei’s expression froze. For a moment, she was at a loss for words.
1.28 billion!
Her father and him weren’t in the same league at all. There was simply no comparison between the two. In the face of such absolute power, the Lin Family was no match for Lin Jiang.
Lin Qiangwei looked toward Yang Tao in the kitchen.
’He was right.’
’From now on, there’s only one Master Lin in this area.’
’And that’s Lin Jiang!’
"Miss Lin, what should we do now?" Wang Jilong’s face fell, terrified just thinking about what had happened.
"He exposed our KTV in front of everyone and even mentioned there was a ’disagreement.’ He’s setting us up."
"Before we see the consequences, let’s not scare ourselves. It might not be as bad as you’re imagining."
Lin Qiangwei said:
"You take my dad home first. I’ll stay here."
At this point, Lin Qiangwei’s expression couldn’t help but turn serious.
She didn’t know if she could clean up this mess, but she had to do her best.
"Understood."
"Oh, and one more thing. When you get back, act as if nothing happened today. The fact that he’s the president of Berkeley must not be leaked, no matter what!"
