Yang Tao, who was in the middle of pan-frying a steak, let out an exclamation. The scent immediately drew Li Yuanyuan and Zhou Xiaoli over.
"This smells amazing! Brother Yang, hurry up, I can’t wait."
"It’s almost ready."
Yang Tao worked deftly, preparing a sauce in another pan with practiced ease.
Soon, four plates of pan-fried steak and rice were on the table, and the taste received unanimous praise.
"Brother Jiang, the only flaw in this dish is the rice. The texture is a bit off and doesn’t do the steak justice. We should buy some Northeast rice, but that would drive up the cost," Yang Tao said.
Lin Jiang felt the same way.
"Then let’s use Northeast rice. Since we’re already serving steak, we can’t really go for the budget-friendly route anyway. A slightly higher price doesn’t matter. Quality is the most important thing. You can go ahead and arrange it."
"Got it."
After testing the new dish, Lin Jiang’s task was complete.
Once the new shop opened, this new product would be another bestseller.
And so, several days passed, during which Lin Jiang got a lot done.
He posted notices both online and on the door to rent out the property, mainly to make some money from subletting it.
Since he wasn’t short on cash and was in a hurry to rent it out, Lin Jiang set a very low price. He sublet it for 70,000 yuan, which was enough to rent a place for Li Yuanyuan and the others and buy them work uniforms.
In addition, Lin Jiang stayed in touch with Qiu Yunong, discussing investment matters.
Because the company’s business license hadn’t been issued yet, Lin Jiang could only use the excuse of being busy to delay the matter for a few days.
However, during those few days, Lin Jiang signed a contract with Qiu Yunong, so she naturally wasn’t worried about it anymore.
Furthermore, the noodle shop’s renovations were nearing completion. As soon as it was cleaned, it would basically be ready for business.
As for the apartment at Century Triumph, the furniture was all in place, and it was ready to be moved into. A few minor details could be overlooked.
Besides all this, he didn’t neglect his "card games" with Li Zhiyi and Jiang Xiaoqi.
Li Zhiyi showed off her splits, while Jiang Xiaoqi developed new ways to play. It was all great fun.
And Li Zhiyi, that Water Demon, seemed to have leveled up, to the point where she was almost getting out of control.
As for Xu Lin, since she had a "guest in the palace," they could only discuss "import/export trade."
These past few days, he’d been busy, and his "little brother" had been busy too. Neither of them had been idle.
[Mission Complete (The Birth of Capital): Reward: Delicious Sour Plum Soup Recipe, 50 EXP]
Hearing the notification in his mind, Lin Jiang’s expression brightened. ’The mission’s complete.’
RING RING RING—
At the same time, Lin Jiang’s phone rang. It was a call from Chen Jingxian.
"The company is registered. I’m on my way to your place to drop off the business license."
"Okay, thanks, sis."
"Don’t be so polite with me, really."
After hanging up, Tongzi’s reward was also distributed. Lin Jiang examined the recipe for the delicious sour plum soup.
Compared to the pan-fried steak and rice, the recipe for the delicious sour plum soup was much simpler, with only a dozen or so ingredients.
Besides some food-grade flavoring, there were also a few Chinese medicinal herbs. You just had to mix these with smoked plums and grind them into a paste, and it was done.
With this, he would fill the beverage gap in his menu. It would be hard for business *not* to boom.
’My future business empire might just start with this shop.’
Lin Jiang tapped a finger on the table, thinking.
’When playing cards, my reach is limited, and I can only go down one path at a time. But business is different; I can totally multitask.’
At this thought, Lin Jiang checked his Affinity with the various NPCs.
[Xu Lin: 100]
[Li Zhiyi: 80]
[Chen Jingxian: 70]
[Jiang Xiaoqi: 50]
[Qin Yangyang: 10]
[Qin Youyou: 20]
[Liang Shuhuo: 20]
Right now, the only person he could invest in was Xu Lin.
But even setting aside the Affinity factor, Xu Lin was still the most suitable choice.
She had the highest Affinity, was ambitious, and had her own career. There was no reason not to invest in her.
’I need to put that on the agenda.’
Suddenly, Lin Jiang remembered that it seemed to be time to choose a treasure again.
He opened his attribute panel.
[Name: Lin Jiang]
[Skills: Culinary Skill (Basic), Fighting Technique (Basic)]
[Attributes: Physique 18, Comprehension 23, Charm 22]
[Martial Force: 18]
[Item: Learning Card]
[Treasure Chest: 100/100]
’Choose treasure.’
A dazzlingly pretentious light flashed in his mind. The three "old employee" treasure chests made their grand entrance.
After the treasure chests opened, three rulers appeared above them.
’What the fuck is this shit?’
’Are these props for playing cards with Jiang Xiaoqi?’
Treasure Chest One: Increase diameter by 1 millimeter.
Treasure Chest Two: Increase length by 5 millimeters.
Treasure Chest Three: Increase length by 1 meter.
Lin Jiang: ???
’Increase by one meter?’
’Are you fucking kidding me?’
’You’re really afraid of me exploiting bugs, aren’t you? Since you can’t stop me with code, you’re resorting to physical bug prevention now, is that it?’
Tongzi: *Sweating buckets now, aren’t you, old pal?*
’Choose treasure.’
He repeated the command silently in his mind, and Lin Jiang really was starting to sweat.
After exploiting so many bugs, if Tongzi decided to mess with him, he might be dragged to the hospital the next second to be asked if he’d ever traveled to Japan or drunk any of their nuclear wastewater.
[Treasure Selection Successful: Reward: Diameter increased by 1 millimeter]
’Alright, alright. As long as it’s not the one-meter one.’
Soon, Lin Jiang felt a wave of warmth in his crotch, but it came and went quickly, and everything returned to normal before long.
’After I exploited so many bugs, you still didn’t screw me over. Tongzi, next time I’ll definitely let you push from behind.’
Not long after, Chen Jingxian arrived.
She was wearing a yellow camisole with a white floral pattern, a pair of stonewashed jeans, and a pair of small black boots. Her bottom was round and perky, and her legs were full and shapely—a truly excellent view.
Seeing the shop completely empty, Chen Jingxian was surprised.
"How come there’s no one here?"
"The new shop is almost done with renovations, so I sublet this place. I just signed the contract this morning. I’m getting ready to pack up and clear out for them."
"Well then, congratulations on your future fortune, President Lin."
"Let’s be low-key, low-key. No need for blind worship."
"Oh, you and your ego."
Chen Jingxian held up the small bag in her hand.
"Ta-da! Look what this is."
Seeing the business license, Lin Jiang was quite curious. He took it and examined it for a good while.
"Look at this."
Chen Jingxian took out a small rectangular box.
"These are the business cards I had made for you. You said you didn’t have any requirements, so I just designed a set based on my own ideas."
Opening the card case, Lin Jiang took one out.
Ignore Risk Investment Co., Ltd., General Manager Lin Jiang.
"It actually looks pretty legit."
"Whatever you do, you have to look the part. The details determine success or failure, after all," Chen Jingxian said.
"From now on, I’ll be in charge of the company’s finances. I got a new computer just for your work. You can call me anytime if you need anything."
"Isn’t that a bit presumptuous? I wanted you to be my secretary. Making you the accountant would be a waste of your talents."
Chen Jingxian shot Lin Jiang a look, as if to say, ’You think I don’t know what you’re thinking?’
"I don’t think you want me as a secretary. You just want me to wear high heels and black stockings."
"Wrong! Completely wrong! It’s a professional requirement."
"But since it’s just the two of us in the company for now, I suppose I can take on the role of secretary as well. You’re a man, so you can hand over any tasks that are inconvenient for you or that you don’t have time for."
"How could I let you do that? You still have your main job," Lin Jiang said.
"In the future, once the company is established, you can quit your current job and come work for me."
Chen Jingxian looked at Lin Jiang seriously.
"You really think so?"
"Of course. I’d feel at ease entrusting these matters to you."
Chen Jingxian smiled playfully. "Then I’ll just wait for the day President Lin poaches me with a high salary."
"Don’t worry, I’ll definitely poach you in the future."
"Then it’s a deal." Chen Jingxian held out her pinky. "Let’s pinky-promise."
"Pinky-promise!"
Lin Jiang extended his own pinky.
"I’ll be sure to bring you into the company in the future. I won’t go back on my word."
