The two of them sat down across from Qin Yangyang, a faint, pleasant scent wafting toward them.
Qin Yangyang wore a form-fitting black top that accentuated her great figure.
Although they weren’t as big as Qin Youyou’s, their perfect handful of a size was a favorite among many men.
Qin Yangyang pushed the menu in front of Lin Jiang.
"The food here is pretty good. You can order anything; you won’t be disappointed."
"You order. I’m fine with anything."
Lin Jiang wasn’t in the mood to order food; the mission was his priority right now.
"Alright."
Qin Youyou looked down at the menu, choosing carefully.
Just like last time, Qin Yangyang had to handle work even while eating. She was busier than he had imagined.
He opened the game’s mission screen.
[X-ray Card: Grants the user the ability of X-ray Vision.]
’What else could I say besides ’fucking awesome’?’
[Blink Card: Receive a five-yuan reward for every blink (24-hour limit).]
’This reward isn’t bad. I’m short on cash right now, too.’
After checking the mission rewards, Lin Jiang looked at the mission description again.
Qin Yangyang was a lawyer, so it was understandable that she would receive death threats.
’So the person threatening her is probably connected to the case she’s currently handling.’
"I’ve ordered. Sis, is there anything else you want to eat?"
"I’m fine with anything. Just order a lot, don’t be shy," Qin Yangyang said while replying to a message.
"I know, I ordered plenty of food," Qin Youyou said.
"Sis, are you still handling Zhou Wenli’s case? She scammed five hundred million and fled the country. They’ll probably never catch her, right?"
"Definitely. Trying to get the money back is practically impossible," Qin Yangyang said.
"Then why are you looking so worried? You’re not a god. You don’t have to get all worked up if a case doesn’t pan out."
"But I have to explain it properly to the client. Our profession looks glamorous, but really, it’s a service job."
As they were speaking, the food they ordered was brought to the table.
Qin Yangyang put down her phone, apparently not planning to reply anymore.
"You didn’t go to the company today, did you?" Qin Yangyang asked while grilling some meat.
"I’m on my period, so I didn’t go."
She shot Qin Youyou a speechless look. "It’s just your period. Is that any reason to skip work?"
"Mainly, I just don’t want to do it. I have absolutely no passion for it."
"Then hurry up and find a boyfriend. He could help share some of the burden," Qin Yangyang said.
"No way. What if he’s just after my money? I have to be careful about that stuff. But someone like Brother Jiang is an exception."
Qin Yangyang looked at Lin Jiang with a smile. "Then you should give it a try. Ask your Brother Jiang if he agrees."
"I did, but Brother Jiang said he’s an adult."
"It wouldn’t work if he weren’t an adult either. Dating a minor is illegal," Qin Yangyang teased.
"That’s not it." Qin Youyou giggled. "What Brother Jiang meant was, adults don’t make choices. They take both."
Lin Jiang: ???
’Seriously, girl? You’ll just say anything, won’t you?’
’Don’t you know your sister is a lawyer?’
"Take both?"
Qin Yangyang was stunned for a moment, but she quickly understood.
"Legally speaking, that would definitely be against the law."
"Hmm?"
Qin Youyou’s interest was piqued. "So if we’re not talking legally, it isn’t against the law?"
"Because there’s no law to break. As long as the other person doesn’t want a marriage certificate, it’s fine. Besides, there are new policies now allowing children born out of wedlock to be registered. This kind of thing has become even more rampant; it’s nothing new anymore."
Qin Youyou’s eyes widened, full of curiosity.
"You even know about this stuff?"
"I’m a lawyer. I mostly serve the wealthy. Lawyers know all about their dirty little secrets."
"So it’s really possible! Then there’s hope for this."
Lin Jiang: ???
’I was just saying! Are you actually being serious?’
’Is this for real?’
She shot her younger sister a speechless look. "Be serious. What do you mean ’there’s hope’..."
The dinner proceeded pleasantly, and Lin Jiang also gathered some information.
Qin Yangyang was currently in charge of that five-hundred-million fraud case.
’So the person threatening her might be a family member of the suspect.’
’My mission is to find these people and make sure they get locked up.’
They ate until past nine in the evening, and the dinner for the three of them began to wind down.
"I’m free today, I’ll take you home," Qin Yangyang said after they left the restaurant.
"Don’t you have to go to the gym? Brother Jiang can just take me."
"I’m skipping today. Overtraining can be counterproductive."
"Fine by me. One car, two women. Let Brother Jiang get a taste of what that’s like."
"Behave yourself."
The Qin Sisters got into Lin Jiang’s car.
Before getting in, Lin Jiang glanced at the surrounding cars. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
After getting in, Lin Jiang started the car and drove off toward Fenglin International.
"You should come stay at my place for a few days. We can keep each other company," Qin Yangyang said.
"Maybe in a few days. I still have a few Pilates classes I haven’t finished."
"Then make sure you lock your door properly. If a stranger knocks, absolutely do not open it. You have to bolt the door."
"Jeez, I know. I’m not a child anymore."
The whole way, Qin Yangyang kept nagging Qin Youyou to be careful, to the point that Youyou was getting a little impatient.
"Let’s go, I’ll walk you back."
"Okay."
Qin Youyou didn’t think much of it, and the two sisters got out of the car one after the other.
"Brother Jiang, it’s dark out. I’ll have to trouble you to be her escort. When my sister comes back, please drive her home," Qin Youyou said.
"Don’t worry, you can leave it to me."
The two sisters linked arms and walked into Fenglin International.
Suddenly!
Lin Jiang noticed a white Nissan sedan parked behind his car.
He seemed to recall seeing this same car when they left the barbecue restaurant earlier.
’It can’t be such a coincidence. Am I running into them today?’
’Given Tongzi’s habit of assigning missions, it seems like a real possibility.’
Just then, Lin Jiang saw the driver get out of the car and start jogging, accelerating in the direction the two sisters had gone!
"Fuck! They’re really here!"
Making a split-second decision, Lin Jiang unbuckled his seatbelt, got out of the car, and followed them.
Tailing them from a distance, Lin Jiang didn’t rush to find the Qin Sisters, nor did he call them.
’This mission is to resolve the death threat against Qin Yangyang.’
’The way to complete the mission is to catch the person threatening her!’
’So, I just need to follow that short-haired man.’
’If he dares to make a move on Qin Yangyang, that’ll be my chance!’
Sure enough, the short-haired man followed Qin Yangyang all the way to her apartment building’s entrance, then hid in a dark corner, staying out of sight.
Following suit, Lin Jiang also hid to one side, casually picking up a brick from the ground as he watched silently.
A few minutes later, Qin Yangyang’s figure appeared at the building entrance. She quickened her pace, walking toward the outside.
At that moment, the short-haired man sped up and rushed toward Qin Yangyang.
"Get back!"
Lin Jiang’s shout startled them both.
Qin Yangyang whipped her head around and saw the short-haired man, her face instantly draining of all color.
The short-haired man, too, was caught off guard by the sudden shout, momentarily stunned.
Lin Jiang rushed forward at once, pulling Qin Yangyang behind him protectively.
She didn’t know why Lin Jiang was here, but in that instant, an indescribable sense of security washed over her.
"You bitch, you called for backup, huh!"
The short-haired man pulled out a fruit knife and pointed it at Lin Jiang and Qin Yangyang.
"Let me tell you, you’d better mind your own business! If you dare to help them with their lawsuit again, I’ll kill you!"
Just as Lin Jiang was about to speak, a game notification chimed in.
[Enemy hatred detected. Combat Mode activated.]
