According to the information he’d looked up, Qin Zhengqing held 36% of the company’s shares.
In second place was a company called Xiangrong, which owned 28% of the shares.
In third was a company named Xi Yuan, holding 17% of the shares.
Together, the second and third shareholders held 45%, far exceeding the Qin Family’s stake.
’But I have 10%. Add that to Qin Zhengqing’s, and it’s exactly 46%.’
’That’s just enough to solve the problem the Qin Family is currently facing.’
’Something like this doesn’t happen overnight. There must have been signs long before now.’
’But I’ve been in touch with the two sisters quite a bit lately.’
’Whether in person or chatting online, the Qin Sisters never mentioned it. They didn’t even drop the slightest hint, so they must have been deliberately hiding it.’
’But with 10% of the shares in my hands, completing this mission should be a piece of cake.’
Soon, Lin Jiang drove to the high-speed rail station. Adding a touch of ceremony, Qin Youyou bought a bouquet of flowers.
The two of them went to the arrivals gate. After waiting for about ten minutes, they saw Qin Yangyang, dressed in professional attire and pushing a silver suitcase, emerge looking both stunning and sharp.
Over the short walk of a few dozen meters, plenty of people gave her appraising looks. A few even boldly approached to hit on her, but Qin Yangyang politely turned them all down.
"Congratulations, Qin Lu, on winning another battle."
Qin Youyou beamed as she presented the flowers, which Qin Yangyang accepted with a smile.
"After all that prep work, if I’d lost the case, I would’ve had a complete meltdown."
"I knew you were the best! Come on, let’s go eat. Brother Jiang is starving."
"Mm."
Lin Jiang helped Qin Yangyang with her suitcase.
After getting in the car, they drove to the Hunan restaurant Qin Youyou had booked.
After they ordered, Qin Youyou excused herself to use the restroom. Seizing the opportunity, Qin Yangyang slipped off her high heels and nudged Lin Jiang under the table with her foot.
"Did you miss me, or do you need something from me?"
"Can’t it be both? I missed you, and I also need to ask you about something."
"Smooth talker," Qin Yangyang said, a hint of pride in her voice.
"So, what did you need to see me about? It’s not a lawsuit, is it?"
"No, I wanted to ask if you know much about applying to grad school."
Qin Yangyang gave Lin Jiang a strange look.
"What, now that you’re an entrepreneur, you want to get an executive master’s degree to decorate your résumé?"
"Hey, I’d never do something like that," Lin Jiang said with a laugh.
"My sister is about to start her senior year, and she’s getting ready to apply for grad school. She’s at Hang City University of Finance and Economics and wants to get into Zhonghai University of Finance and Economics, but I was hoping she could aim for Zhonghai Jiaotong University. Do you think she has a shot?"
"Oh, so this is about your sister. If her grades are exceptional, she could certainly give it a shot. But it’s extremely difficult for a student from a less prestigious university to get into a top-tier ’Project 985’ school," Qin Yangyang said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Getting into Zhonghai Finance is a much more realistic goal by comparison."
"Are there any shortcuts?"
’Now that I can throw money at the problem, I don’t have to take the conventional route.’
"Of course," Qin Yangyang said. "For these top-tier 985 universities, the exams for the major-specific subjects are written by their own professors. You get what I mean, right?"
"I get it. That means there’s a lot of room to maneuver."
"But the prerequisite is that her own academic level can’t be too low," Qin Yangyang said. "Also, top 985 universities can set their own score cutoffs. She’ll need to get exceptionally high scores in subjects like math, English, and political science just to qualify for the follow-up interview."
"So, the only areas with any wiggle room are the major-specific exams and the interview. For everything else, she still has to work hard. You can find her the best tutors and prep courses, but like I said, she still needs to have a solid foundation."
"I’m a little curious, where did you go to school?"
"Undergrad at Renmin University, then my Master’s and PhD at Duke University."
"Damn, impressive," Lin Jiang said, giving her a thumbs-up.
"But of course. You should expect nothing less."
Pleased by Lin Jiang’s compliment, Qin Yangyang looked a little smug as she continued the topic.
"If she wants to get into a university in Zhonghai, I suggest you bring her over here in advance. The tutors in Zhonghai will be more familiar with the local universities and have more relevant experience."
"I’ll arrange the prep courses for her first. Once everything is set, I’ll bring her over."
"Okay."
Just as they finished their conversation, Qin Youyou returned, and the dishes began to arrive at the table.
During the meal, the conversation centered on fun topics, never touching upon their family’s troubles.
Lin Jiang guessed that just having a good relationship with the Qin Sisters wouldn’t be enough to complete his mission.
’I probably need something like a formal agreement to bind us together. That’s the only way to finish this task.’
’In that case, I’ll have to pay a visit to their family’s company in person.’
"Sis, are you tired? What are your plans for this afternoon?" Qin Youyou asked.
"Let’s just go home for now. I haven’t decided what I’m doing yet."
"I’ll go with you. I’m staying at your place tonight."
"Huh? Stay at my place?" Qin Yangyang’s voice went up.
"Yep. I don’t want to stay at home."
"Well..."
Qin Yangyang smoothed her hair back.
"Things are a bit busy at the firm, so I might have to work late tonight. If I get back late, you should just go to sleep. Don’t wait up for me."
