"I’ve been feeling a bit unhealthy lately, so I came to work out."
Lin Jiang casually made up an excuse.
"You just moved here not long ago. Is this your first time here?" Qin Yangyang came forward and asked.
"Do you want to just try it out? Or get a membership?"
"I’ll get a membership. It’s not that much money."
"True. You can’t just be busy with work all the time. Health is still very important."
Qin Yangyang took her phone out of her bag and said,
"I didn’t get you a discount on the house, so I have to get you one today. I’ll make a call first."
Qin Yangyang leisurely stepped to the side. He didn’t know who she’d called, but she was back in less than a minute.
"7,000 a year. How about it? That’s a decent price, right?"
"7,000?"
Lin Jiang had never signed up for a gym before, but he’d heard Chen Jingjia talk about it in the past.
In Zhonghai, annual memberships for high-end gyms were all over 10,000.
Looking at the surroundings, given Suya’s scale and its location, over 10,000 a year wouldn’t have been excessive. For Qin Yangyang to have negotiated it down to 7,000 for him, the price was a real bargain.
"It’s normally 12,800 a year. If you’re a homeowner here, there’s a 2,000 discount. But the property management is handled by my family’s company, and they have a lot of things they need to coordinate with us on, so they gave me this price."
"Thank you, Comrade Xiaoxian."
"You’d better stop."
Qin Yangyang raised a small fist, but Lin Jiang was quick to dodge, not letting her land the hit.
The female receptionist watched from the side. It was the first time she had ever seen Qin Yangyang act so intimately with a man.
Afterward, Qin Yangyang took Lin Jiang to get the annual membership, and they walked into the gym side by side.
The workout area was very large, which made it seem spacious and empty. This suited Lin Jiang just fine, as it would be quieter.
’Use Fitness Card,’ Lin Jiang recited silently in his mind.
[Fitness Card used successfully. Does the player wish to check in?]
’Check in.’
[Check-in successful: Day 1]
Seeing the prompt from Tongzi, he felt it was quite generous.
He didn’t even have to work out here; he just had to come and check in. After three consecutive days, he would get the 8% body fat reward.
"Do you need a personal trainer?"
Qin Yangyang looked at Lin Jiang. "I can introduce you to a beautiful female trainer. Want me to?"
"Are you volunteering yourself?"
"I don’t have that kind of skill. I’m being serious."
"I don’t need a personal trainer. I’m just going to work out casually. I probably won’t even come a few times a year," Lin Jiang said.
"That’s easy. I’ll supervise you from now on. We can come together in the evenings; that way, we’ll have company," Qin Yangyang said.
"But if you’re just working out casually, then you really don’t need a personal trainer. I can show you the ropes."
"That’s a great idea."
Qin Yangyang was very enthusiastic. Although she looked a bit cold and aloof on the outside, she was very talkative in private.
Chatting as they went, she led Lin Jiang on a tour of the place.
After looking around, Lin Jiang found that the interior was more luxurious than he had imagined, and the design was very modern.
"They even have a card room and a Billiards room."
"That’s nothing. There’s also a swimming pool. Swimming is good for shaping your body. I’m planning to learn," Qin Yangyang said.
"Do you have enough time for all that?"
"It’s not a big deal. You can always squeeze some time out."
Lin Jiang glanced at her. There was a reason she was a top student.
’In this lifetime, I probably won’t have the chance to be a top student.’
’But...’
’I have a good chance of becoming the father of a top student.’
"As expected of Qin Lu, truly one of the elites."
"Hmph, I’ll reluctantly accept your compliment."
After a quick look, Lin Jiang realized the gym’s attribute was no longer just fitness; it was more like a comprehensive entertainment center.
’If they threw in a few masseuses, it would be even more perfect.’
After a brief tour, the two of them arrived at the workout area.
There weren’t many people, only about twenty or so, most of whom were women.
When they saw Lin Jiang walk in, many of the women stopped what they were doing and looked over, sizing him up.
"Yangyang, you’re here."
As soon as they entered, he saw a woman in yoga shorts and a tight-fitting short-sleeved shirt walking toward Qin Yangyang.
The woman had long, dark hair tied up in a simple ponytail. The well-defined curves of her forearm and leg muscles, combined with her perky glutes, were clear signs she was a gym veteran.
"Let me introduce you. This is my trainer, Zheng Huiting."
"This is my friend, Lin Jiang. He just got a membership here."
Qin Yangyang made the introductions. The two shook hands briefly, and a mischievous smile appeared on Zheng Huiting’s face.
"This is the first time I’ve seen you bring a friend over. He’s not your boyfriend, is he, Qin Lu?"
"If he were my boyfriend, I’d admit it openly. It’s not something I need to hide," Qin Yangyang said frankly, not hiding anything.
"You’re friends now, but maybe you’ll become more than that later. I get it."
"You’re such a gossip."
"So what’s the plan for today? Should we start our session right away, or do you want to work out with your friend for a bit first?" Zheng Huiting asked.
"It’s his first time, so I’ll work out with him for a bit."
Qin Yangyang glanced at the sports watch on her wrist and said,
"As for today’s session, let’s just play it by ear. We’ll do it if there’s time, and if not, we’ll skip it."
"That works. I’m free today anyway, so I can hang out with you for a while. Besides, my guidance will definitely be a bit more professional than yours," Zheng Huiting said with a smile.
"Then we get to freeload a session."
"What’s the big deal? You’re not strangers."
Zheng Huiting was very enthusiastic, unlike other personal trainers who would ignore you if you didn’t buy their sessions.
First, there was Qin Yangyang’s status—the property management company belonged to her family. Second, she was a lawyer. Befriending someone like her was definitely a step up for Zheng Huiting.
Second, Lin Jiang was a beginner. By giving him some professional guidance this way, she could also win some goodwill. Maybe he’d buy her sessions in the future. She could kill two birds with one stone.
"Let’s measure your body fat first and get a look at your basic physical condition."
Led by Zheng Huiting, the three of them went to the measurement center.
The machine was very advanced. It not only measured height and weight but also blood pressure and heart rate. It looked very impressive.
"About what I expected. 16% body fat. For a regular person, that’s pretty decent," Zheng Huiting commented.
Qin Yangyang looked at Lin Jiang. "Do you have a fitness plan? What kind of physique are you aiming for? Or, are there any specific areas you want to focus on?"
Women who come to the gym usually focus on four things: glutes, legs, fat loss, and abdominal lines.
Men are probably a bit simpler. A lot of them just want to train their abs to attract the attention of the opposite sex.
"Let’s start with lowering my body fat. Below 10%, preferably down to 8%. I saw a male celebrity with the surname Peng whose physique is pretty good. His body fat is supposedly 8%."
Lin Jiang didn’t actually have a plan for this. If he hadn’t been rewarded with the Fitness Card, he probably would have never come to a gym.
But since she asked, he had to say something.
After all, the rule for using the Fitness Card was that if he checked in for three consecutive days, his body fat percentage would drop to 8%. So naturally, the first step was to lower his body fat.
"Oh, you mean him?"
Obviously, both women knew which male celebrity he was talking about.
"You can’t get a physique like his by just working out casually. You need a professional trainer to create a training plan, and you have to follow a strict diet. Even then, it would take several months. You probably don’t have the time for that, right?" Qin Yangyang said.
"Time-wise, you’re right, I don’t. But don’t be so absolute. What if I manage it just by working out casually? Everyone’s Physique is different."
"Keep dreaming. If you can achieve that just by ’working out casually,’ I’ll rerack your weights for you every day from now on," Qin Yangyang said with absolute certainty.
"You said it. Don’t go back on your word."
"I’m a lawyer; I always keep my word. If you can’t do it, then you’ll be reracking my weights."
"No problem."
Chatting and laughing, the three of them returned to the workout area.
Zheng Huiting didn’t take Lin Jiang’s words to heart either.
Beginners were like that. It was normal for them to have unrealistic ideas. Once he started training, he’d find out the reality.
"You were saying you wanted to cut fat, right? Let me teach you a few exercises. I want to lose some weight too, so we can work out together."
’Here’s her chance to set the hook.’
Just as Lin Jiang was about to respond, a notification from Tongzi appeared.
[A wild mob has appeared. Player, please be on guard.]
’A wild mob?’
’The Vanguard Officer appeared during the day. Could this mob be related to the upcoming Boss?’
’Or is it just a trash mob, like Fan Kunpeng before?’
Lin Jiang looked around, searching for the so-called wild mob.
Soon, his gaze locked onto a woman.
’If there’s a mob nearby, it must be her.’
’A monster with factory-original headlights!’
"Ahem, ahem..."
Qin Yangyang coughed lightly. "Stop staring. Her boyfriend is right next to her."
"This is called appreciating beauty in its most primal form."
"Don’t try to argue your way out of it. I’m a lawyer; I’ve seen all kinds of people," Qin Yangyang said with a laugh.
"But it’s normal. Men all seem to like them big. Youyou’s size should be very popular. I’ll ask her to come along next time."
’Having you sisters together... how embarrassing for me.’
’I wonder when you’ll actually invite her.’
"Look at you. Don’t women like them big too?"
"I think hers are too big. They don’t look good in clothes. Mine are just right."
Lin Jiang glanced at Qin Yangyang. "Yours look quite..."
"Look quite what?"
Qin Yangyang eyed Lin Jiang sideways, her fair little hand poised to strike.
"Quite... quite cute..."
Qin Yangyang: ???
She had thought Lin Jiang would say something comforting, even if it was a lie, like "they’re quite big too."
Or be a bit bolder and say they were perky and didn’t sag.
But what the hell was "quite cute" supposed to mean?
’Can’t you use less weird adjectives!’
"What kind of weird adjective is that!"
Even though she didn’t like them too big herself, being described this way still made her a little indignant.
"Don’t forget, I’m wearing a sports bra! It’s very tight!"
"Actually..."
"Actually what?"
Seeing Lin Jiang about to correct himself, Qin Yangyang felt the satisfying thrill of turning the tables.
"Are you trying to say they’re actually quite big?"
"No, I was going to say..." Lin Jiang paused and then said,
"The first time I saw Youyou, she was also wearing a sports bra, but she didn’t look cute at all. She looked a little fierce."
"I..."
Qin Yangyang was so angry she ground her teeth.
’Getting teased by Qin Youyou at home was one thing, but now I’m getting teased by him here too.’
’What’s wrong with being small!’
’Small is cute!’
’Besides, a B-cup isn’t that small, okay!’
Seeing Qin Yangyang fall silent, Lin Jiang prepared to organize his words and comfort her a little.
But just then, a game notification appeared.
[A wild mob has appeared.]
[Mob Name: Shen Yuanhang]
[Kill Condition: Ensure Shen Yuanhang never appears in Suya Fitness Center again.]
[Kill Reward: Beginner Swimming, 50,000 cash.]
