A white sedan pulled up to the hotel entrance.
Tang Wan and Liu Peipei stepped out of the car.
Hoping to make a good impression on the investor and director, they had both dressed up for the occasion.
Tang Wan wore a knee-length skirt and a sleeveless beige blouse. The ensemble was understated, exuding the gentle air of a homemaker.
The role she was most eager to land was Ma Dongmei, so she had deliberately dressed to align with that homemaker persona.
Liu Peipei, on the other hand, was aiming for the role of Qiu Ya and had dressed more youthfully.
Her jeans and white, short-sleeved T-shirt gave her a vibrant, youthful energy.
As a university student herself, she had no trouble playing younger roles, like a high schooler.
She could also play older, capably handling the roles of more mature, sophisticated women.
"Xiaowan!"
A long-haired woman standing by the entrance walked over to them.
The woman was about the same age as Tang Wan, around thirty, but her attire was much more business-like. She wore a white skirt, a form-fitting red top, and red high heels. One glance was enough to know she wasn’t someone to be trifled with.
The woman’s name was Zhou Yan. She was a friend of Tang Wan’s and an agent in the industry who would be representing them both to negotiate for the roles.
"The traffic was a bit heavy. Have you been waiting long?"
"Not at all, I just arrived myself." Zhou Yan glanced at her watch. "Let’s hurry. The investor is here too, so we shouldn’t keep him waiting."
"Let’s go."
The trio quickened their pace and headed into the hotel.
"Teacher Tang, Sister Yan, look over there! Isn’t that Liu Wenwen?"
Just as they were reaching the entrance, they saw a woman in jeans and a Louis Vuitton top, wearing sunglasses and a mask, hurry toward the hotel with a middle-aged man.
"I think it is her," Tang Wan said.
"I heard from President Fang that they planned on inviting her for the role of Ma Dongmei," Zhou Yan said. "But you two still have a chance. It all depends on whether you can fight for it."
"She was in *Youthful Prose Poem* a while back, so her popularity is at its peak right now. Topics about her are trending every single day."
"The trending lists are just a garbage dump these days," Zhou Yan said. "As long as you’re willing to pay, you could get on there for just farting. But she is genuinely popular right now."
"Just do your best to win a part. Don’t worry about the size of the role for now. As long as it’s a chance to get on screen, we have to fight for it—even if it’s only a single line."
"Understood."
Inside the hotel, the three of them made their way to the elevators.
Just then, Liu Wenwen and her agent walked over as well.
"Quick, quick, she’s here!"
The hotel manager shouted a command, and four security guards jogged over to Liu Wenwen, forming a protective circle around her.
Liu Wenwen kept her head down, instinctively quickening her pace toward the elevators.
Such a commotion naturally attracted the attention of the other hotel guests.
But this was the Ritz-Carlton. The people staying here were, without exception, either rich or powerful. Even if they were fans of a celebrity, they wouldn’t act like die-hard fanatics; a glance from a distance would be more than enough.
Liu Wenwen’s behavior was entirely unnecessary; no one was making a big deal out of her presence.
After all, she’d only gotten famous from one movie; she hadn’t quite reached the level of an A-list actress.
Just then, an elevator arrived on the ground floor, and the doors slid open.
Just as Tang Wan and the others were about to step in, Liu Wenwen’s agent stopped them.
"You can wait for the next one. We’re going up first."
With that, he blocked the three of them, ushering Liu Wenwen into the elevator before following close behind, preventing any outsiders from getting on.
"She’s got some nerve," Liu Peipei couldn’t help but mutter.
"You get used to it."
Tang Wan remained composed. Having guest-starred in a few productions, she had a much deeper understanding of the people in this industry.
Everyone wears a mask. In front of the cameras, they’re all perfect gentlemen, doting mothers, and humble patrons of the arts. In reality, it’s all a hypocritical facade.
Since they were just nobodies in the industry, the three of them didn’t dare argue.
One casual post from someone like her, and they’d be the ones getting mobbed onlineovel.com
Inside the elevator, Liu Wenwen spoke without taking off her mask and sunglasses.
"I hear there are others auditioning today?"
"Just a few newcomers. They’re no threat to you. This so-called audition is just a formality, a courtesy to Li Wenzhong," said Liu Wenwen’s agent, Jin Yelai.
"Director Ma also contacted me yesterday. He wants me for a teen romance film. Brother Lei, could you talk to him and see if he can wait for my schedule to free up?"
"Alright, I’ll get in touch with him. With your fame and status in the industry, a small request like that shouldn’t be a problem."
Soon, the elevator reached the 28th floor. The pair walked up to Room 2818 and knocked on the door.
Fang Jie opened the door. Upon seeing Liu Wenwen and her agent, she welcomed them inside.
"Please, come in."
Once they were inside, Fang Jie made the introductions.
Liu Wenwen was incredibly surprised to learn that Lin Jiang was the investor.
Someone so handsome who was also an investor—that was a rare combination in this industry.
Meanwhile, Lin Jiang was sizing up Liu Wenwen, and he couldn’t help but frown.

’Those scores are completely average.’
’But her looks and figure, I have to admit, are remarkable.’
’To make it in the entertainment industry with stats like these, she probably has a wealthy patron backing her. With a little marketing, a few paid trending topics, and a carefully crafted persona, anyone can get famous.’
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK—
Just then, the knocking sounded again. Fang Jie went to open the door, revealing Tang Wan and the other two women outside.
