Before long, the coffee was ready.
The two of them took their coffee and casually sat down across from Lin Jiang.
He looked up and recognized them as the women who had been in his car the day before.
Lin Jiang didn’t know much about them, only that one was named Fang Jie and the other was Wei Xue.
"You haven’t been out to look around?" Wei Xue took the initiative to break the ice.
"I’ve been here once before and have pretty much seen it all, so I’m not going out."
"I overheard you on the phone talking about a media company. Do you work in that industry?"
"I’m planning to get into the industry. I’m just starting out."
"What a coincidence! Fang Jie is also in the media industry. You two are practically colleagues."
Wei Xue was very clever, framing their relationship as colleagues to give them more common ground for conversation. She secretly kicked Fang Jie under the table, but the latter remained expressionless, giving nothing away.
"Actually, the media industry has many different sectors. Which area are you planning to work in? MCN?" Fang Jie chimed in.
Lin Jiang shook his head. "I plan to develop my own talent. The recruitment and selection of artists is already underway, and I’ve already secured a script. All that’s left is to contact a production crew and start filming."
It sounded simple, but putting it into practice would likely present many difficulties.
Securing locations, handling costumes, makeup, and props, hiring professional teams, submitting for review, arranging theatrical distribution...
Every single task required professionals to handle it.
Even though he wasn’t short on money, the amount of time and energy required would still be immense.
Wei Xue looked at Fang Jie in pleasant surprise.
"I remember when you first started in the industry, you were a film and TV director, then you switched to being an agent, and finally started your own company. You must know a lot about this, right?"
Fang Jie nodded. "Actually, the most important thing is the script. If you have an excellent script, money can solve most of the other issues. A great script, however, is a rare find that you can’t just go out and look for." "The director and actors are also very important, aren’t they?"
"Of course, but people in those fields can still be found," Fang Jie said. "There are many excellent young directors these days with great aesthetic sensibilities, cinematography, and narrative skills. It’s just a matter of whether you’re bold enough to use them. And actors? That’s even easier. Given the chance, some would even act for free."
"So, from what you’re saying, as long as you have a good script and the funding, everything else will just fall into place."
"That’s more or less it."
Seeing that their conversation was winding down, Wei Xue brought up a new topic.
"It’s still a bit early. Why don’t we go for a hike? Since you’ve been before, you can be our guide."
"Alright."
"We’re going to go back and change. It’s a bit inconvenient in a skirt."
"Meet back here in a bit?"
Wei Xue made an OK sign with her hand. "Okay."
The two women took their coffee and left the cafe.
"I can’t believe you two actually started chatting. Not bad, not bad at all," Wei Xue said with satisfaction.
"We’re in the same industry, so it’s normal that we had something to talk about."
"Hey, hey, hey, slow down. Someone’s in a hurry."
"I’m walking at a normal pace. You’re the one who’s too slow."
"This is a normal pace. I think you’re the one who’s in a hurry."
Fang Jie didn’t say anything more. She had also noticed that her pace was, in fact, a little fast.
The two of them quickly entered the elevator, where Wei Xue said, "Did you bring yoga pants?"
"No, I just brought a pair of jeans. The rest are all skirts."
"No problem. I have some, I’ll just lend you a pair."
"Do we really have to wear yoga pants?"
"With a great body like yours, it’d be a shame not to wear yoga pants. They’re a must-have for hiking."
As they spoke, they arrived at the third floor and went back to Wei Xue’s room. She found a pair of her own yoga pants and handed them to Fang Jie.
Soon, both of them had changed into yoga pants.
"Has your butt gotten even perkier?"
"Maybe it’s because I’ve gained some weight recently."
"Gaining weight and getting perkier shouldn’t be related, right? Have you been secretly working out at home?"
"I work out every day, okay? People in our line of work are very focused on maintaining their figures."
"I’m a woman, and even I can’t help staring at your butt, let alone a man."
"Alright, alright, just find me a top."
"Here you go."
Once they were changed, the two of them went downstairs.
Back in the cafe, Lin Jiang hadn’t moved after the two women left.
He searched his phone for information about *Xia Luote’s Troubles* and found that not a single trace remained. It had been completely wiped by Tongzi.
Soon, he saw Fang Jie and Wei Xue come downstairs, both wearing yoga pants and athletic tops.
Especially Fang Jie. Her figure was even better than he had imagined.
A bit like an enhanced version of Qin Yangyang.
She was slim in all the right places and full where it counted. Most importantly, she had the unique allure of a mature woman, something Qin Yangyang lacked.
The group of three arrived at Shuangxia Mountain, where many tourists were already hiking.
Wei Xue proactively bought three bottles of water, and then they started up the mountain together.
"Your script, did you buy it, or was it your idea that someone else ghostwrote?"
After starting up the mountain, the two of them naturally fell into conversation.
"A friend of mine wrote it. The content is solid, now it’s just a matter of how to execute it."
As he spoke, Lin Jiang looked at Fang Jie. "If possible, we could work together on this."
’Even though we’re in the same industry, whether we can actually work together depends on her capabilities.’ In 2015, the movie *Xia Luote’s Troubles* had earned 1.441 billion at the box office.
With no official promotion, running entirely on word-of-mouth, it had ranked fifth at the box office amidst a sea of blockbusters.
