In the Blue Star Xia calendar, 8750 years, Lingjing Star
It took about seven days for Lin Jiang and the others to clean up the battlefield in space. This was after Lin Jiang mobilized personnel from the interdimensional teleportation array to help.
Outside in space, when Lin Jiang and the others returned to Lingjing Star, they faced a planet that was almost lifeless. Originally, Lingjing Star had over five billion people, but now the population was under seven hundred million. These seven hundred million people were all located in several large cities on Lingjing Star; the rest had all been sacrificed by Xia Qingshan.
Their cause of death was the same; their spirits were drained, and their bodies resembled mummies, still showing the state they were in before they died. Their sudden deaths also led to great unexpected consequences, like factories causing fires or explosions due to a lack of supervision, especially in chemical plants, which were extremely dangerous.
When the battle in space had just ended, Lin Jiang ordered the survivors on Lingjing Star to clean up the battlefield, but a week went by, and less than ten percent of the work was done.
When Lin Jiang and his team returned to Lingjing Star and saw the dead in a medium-sized city, their hearts were filled with deep sadness.
It’s all destroyed, everything is ruined.
Hundreds of years of effort, hundreds of years of struggle, countless assets, all gone.
Technology, education, civilization, all have been wiped out.
"Damn it."
Liang Long sighed, his gaze downcast; someone is really to blame.
"Ancestor Lin."
All eyes were on Lin Jiang. Many people looked terrified and very scared. They feared that one day, they too would meet the same fate, quietly dying and becoming food for someone else.
"Everyone, listen to me. First, the sacrifice of Lingjing Star is because of the Buddhist sect. All the hatred must be directed at the Buddhist sect; they are the true culprits. Second, we must take immediate action regarding the whole Lingjing Star and clean up the mess..."
Lin Jiang took a deep breath, holding back all his anger, and said to the crowd. It had come to this point, and he knew everyone had resentment, but it must be aimed at the Buddhist sect. Of course, the Buddhist sect was not innocent; without their invasion, there would not be this kind of thinking.
Once Lin Jiang gave his orders, everyone sprang into action, joining the efforts to address the situation of Lingjing Star. The tens of billions of bodies could not be left to rot, as they posed a threat to ordinary people’s survival. They must be dealt with—either buried deep or burned.
And then there were those factories and power plants; some still posed dangers and needed to be handled. There was much work to be done.
Of course, besides these tasks, many other things needed attention, such as getting Liang Long to reopen the battleship repair factory to fix the retrieved battleships and quickly restore Lingjing Star’s strength.
Lin Jiang communicated with Blue Star. So many people had died, and Lin Jiang felt deeply saddened, but he had to pull himself together. He urged Blue Star to mobilize and build more Space Battleships while also planning to relocate people from Jiang Star, aiming to move over ten million people to Lingjing Star within a few years.
"Taoist Friend Ming’an, are you ready to leave?"
In the midst of his busy day, Lin Jiang learned that Ming’an and his group were leaving, so he hurried over to meet Ming’an.
"Yes, Taoist Friend Lin, I originally wanted to talk to you about joining the Heavenly Court after you finished your tasks, but it seems you may not finish that quickly. Our Canglan Star is also short on forces and cannot stay here for long."
Ming’an said that matters at the fairy level had already been settled; Lingjing Star would join the Heavenly Court. Ming’an had wanted to discuss interstellar trade with Lin Jiang, but seeing the chaos in Lingjing Star, they prepared to withdraw first, as it was unclear how long it would take to resolve the situation there.
"Taoist Friend Ming’an, things at home are chaotic; you were originally meant to leave first, but don’t worry, in three months, Lingjing Star will be completely renewed."
"Three months?"
"Yes, the astronomical calendar of Lingjing Star..."
Lin Jiang briefly explained; converting it to Blue Star’s calendar, it would be about four or five months. This time is sufficient because Lingjing Star has several hundred million people and many robots. Besides the war robots, the others were hardly damaged. By that time, Blue Star will also have immigrants coming, with the first batch not less than several million, and they will all be high-quality personnel. This is very significant for the post-war reconstruction of Lingjing Star.
"Taoist Friend Lin, forgive me for being straightforward, what do you want to do?"
"Taoist Friend Ming’an, if someone slapped you right now, how would you react?"
"Of course we will fight, wait, do you want to counterattack?"
"Why can’t we counterattack?"
"Friend Lin, with your strength, I’m afraid you can’t defeat Lingfa Star."
"Yes, that’s why we have you."
"Friend Lin, we also suffered heavy losses this time, and we..."
"If Lingfa Star is defeated, it belongs to you, we only seek revenge."
"Uh..."
Lin Jiang’s next sentence completely confused Ming’an; for a moment, he didn’t know how to respond.
"Friend Ming’an, you have seen the losses of the Buddhist sect this time; we have definitely lost more than half, and we can say this is the weakest time for Lingfa Star. Their morale is also very low; this is our best chance for revenge."
"The words I say are always powerful. We have known each other for a long time, so you should know what kind of person I am. You know how valuable Lingfa Star is, but we don’t want it; we want something else in the world of Buddhist cultivators."
"Do you really want to attack Lingfa Star?"
"Is there something strange about this? We are enemies with the Buddhist cultivators. They can’t attack us while we hold back, can they?"
Lin Jiang smiled and said, "The Dark Forest theory still stands. The Buddhist cultivators have attacked us many times. Since the two civilizations have met, only one can survive."
War maniac.
This is Ming’an’s latest comment about Lin Jiang. It’s too crazy! Under Heavenly Court, they have often clashed openly and secretly with the Buddhists, but there has never been anyone so reckless. The strength of the Buddhist sect is truly impressive.
"Taoist Friend Lin, how confident are you in capturing Lingfa Star?"
"On our own, we have no hope. With you, we can have a complete chance, but the condition is that you must cooperate with me in the command."
Lin Jiang said, "The current problem with the Space Battleship is that when facing the attacks from Buddhist cultivators, its defense is too weak. It can’t let them get close, so when there are too many Buddhist cultivators, we can’t stop their firepower."
This is a bit like the cavalry in modern times; back then, cavalry was already outdated compared to spear troops. However, during battles, if cavalry charged into the infantry’s position, it would lead to a great slaughter.
This time, the Space Battleship almost faced destruction because there were too many Buddhist cultivators who attacked closely and overwhelmed it. If Ming’an and the others were willing to help as a shield, the Space Battleship could avoid contact with the enemy and achieve a real dimensional strike.
"Taoist friend Lin, this is very important. I can’t decide alone; I need to find someone to discuss this with."
Ming’an was tempted. If he could take Lingfa Star, the benefits would be enormous. But he couldn’t make decisions by himself; Canglan Star had five major forces that stood equally with him, along with other planets too.
"Of course, you all can move into the Modern City and take a good rest."
Lin Jiang nodded. Many cultivators had not come down yet and were still in space. Lin Jiang needed to entertain them and keep them occupied.
After sending Ming’an away, Lin Jiang immediately arranged for high-level hospitality for them, which was quite normal, as this time Ming’an and his companions truly saved everyone’s lives.
"You finally appeared! I thought you wouldn’t show up."
After finishing part of his tasks, Lin Jiang looked up and saw Xia Qingshan sitting in front of him.
"What do you mean by giving Lingfa Star to them on your own?"
"Is there a problem with that?"
"Of course there is! Do you know how big Lingfa Star is? It is a hundred times bigger than Lingjing Star. One Lingfa Star is larger than Lingjing Star, Jiang Star, and Blue Star all put together..."
"What good does that do? Without them, can we still win?"
"You, Lin Jiang, you are too reckless. I am the ruler of Lingjing Star."
"Is that so? Do you still remember the essence of Huaxia Language? In ancient times, those emperors also called themselves the rulers of all people. But to be the ruler of all people is not just to enjoy the offerings; they must also take responsibility for the people. What have you contributed so far..."
Lin Jiang stared at Xia Qingshan and began to unleash a torrent of rebellious words. Xia Qingshan’s expression changed drastically, and his eyes were filled with a strong desire for vengeance.
