Chapter 448:
Qing State, in the northwest
Zhou Huaiying had left the area, his hands covered in blood from being hit by meteorites falling from the sky. Despite his attempts to dodge them, he couldn’t escape and had to use his magical weapon to defend himself. After taking a few hits, his weapon shattered, and the impact almost broke his hands.
"Plop"
Zhou Huaiying spit out some blood, partly from the shock of the spiritual energy and partly out of frustration.
"Okay, okay, Xia Qingshan, if you have the guts, don’t come back to life. If I catch you, you’ll beg for mercy but won’t find any."
Zhou Huaiying let out a roar, feeling angry and resentful. It had been a long time since he had suffered a loss, and this defeat made him very displeased.
Two hours later, as the smoke cleared, a few cultivators stumbled in front of Zhou Huaiying, crying out, "Master..."
"Why only a few of you? Where are the others?"
"I don’t know, Master."
"Dead, Master. I saw my master crushed by a huge rock and he was gone..."
"It’s too terrible, Sect Leader..."
Several people cried and told about what they saw. Meteorites were falling, and most people were unprepared. By the time they reacted, the meteorite shower had already struck. Some tried to use secret techniques to knock down the meteorites, but they were crushed along with their flying swords. Most people tried to use magic to defend themselves, but the meteorites were too dense, blocking one after another.
They were all lucky to survive against the odds due to various coincidences.
"Save people, save them now."
Zhou Huaiying said coldly. He didn’t believe that only a few people survived.
He brought five hundred people from the Tianxuan Sect, all of whom were his trusted followers. They helped Zhou Huaiying manage things here and received his guidance. It was his hard work over the years. Zhou Huaiying couldn’t believe that only a few people survived.
Zhou Huaiying issued an order for the Tianxuan Sect to send more people to support them. He himself joined the rescue team, but looking at the devastated scene, Zhou Huaiying’s heart sank. The entire northwest region of Qing State had changed drastically. Saving people meant starting over, and Zhou Huaiying’s coveted Green Emperor Tomb might be lost.
More than a few people survived. A month later, Zhou Huaiying counted the survivors and found over a thousand. There were only around thirty disciples from the Tianxuan Sect, the rest were independent cultivators hired by Zhou Huaiying. This time, survival was not based on strength, but on luck. Some Qi Refining independent cultivators survived, but even Void Achieving disciples from the Tianxuan Sect perished.
"Haha, serves you right, really deserves it."
"This is payback, Zhou Huaiying. You bullied us, and now you’re getting what you deserved."
"The only downside is that Zhou Huaiying the old rascal didn’t die."
Among the Danxia Sect, a few Tao Achieving disciples were laughing heartily. Though it’s a shame Zhou Huaiying didn’t die, the Tianxuan Sect suffered heavy losses. The soldiers Zhou Huaiying sent to Qing State were all elite fighters, his own followers, and a few hundred of them were wiped out instantly.
"Senior Brother Wu, I received news that before the meteor shower, Xia Qingshan went to meet Zhou Huaiying and got killed by him for the second time."
"I know too, so Senior Brother, are you thinking about..."
"Finding Xia Qingshan before Zhou Huaiying, cursing Zhou Huaiying to death, to eliminate a big problem in the cultivation world."
"Yes, I’ve seen Zhou Huaiying’s potion formula. Even though we strengthened it for them, based on our estimations, in a maximum of five hundred years, Zhou Huaiying will turn into a monster consumed by bloodlust. With Zhou Huaiying’s power, unless three to five Tao Achieving act together, the cultivation world can’t kill him, and the cultivation world can’t afford that loss."
"The demon tribe is showing signs of unrest, indeed we can’t afford that loss."
Several Tao Achieving at Danxia Sect all agreed that the Yao tribe’s attitude was becoming more dominant. Resources obtained from the Wilderness in the cultivation world had significantly decreased. They were worried about a new cultivation world war breaking out, and Zhou Huaiying was undoubtedly their hidden danger.
"Inform the major sects secretly that Zhou Huaiying is practicing the Blood Demon Manual. We had no way to deal with him before, but now we do. Let’s get rid of him completely."
Wu Zilin said coldly, Zhou Huaiying is too powerful. If his identity had been exposed before, the sects would not have dared to take any action because no one could guarantee that Zhou Huaiying could be killed. It would have caused chaos among the sects, especially since the Blood Demon Manual is one of the forbidden techniques in the cultivation world.
But things are different now. They can manipulate Xia Qingshan to curse and kill Zhou Huaiying without having to act themselves.
"He deserves it, truly deserves to die."
Ancestor He of Shenmu Sect received the news from Qing State and also commented. Shenmu Sect and Tianxuan Sect had no grudges, but seeing Zhou Huaiying defeated made him happy.
Because now Shenmu Sect had a companion. Remember how Shenmu Sect offended Xia Qingshan and was cursed, leading to being ridiculed in the cultivation world for over a hundred years. Now, everyone should be mocking Zhou Huaiying instead.
"Ancestor, should we still seek revenge?"
A young cultivator beside Ancestor He said that as one of the outstanding heirs of the He family, he had been serving Ancestor He and was a key person nurtured by the family.
"Revenge, why not seek revenge?"
"Ah, Ancestor, about Xia Qingshan..."
"Just catch them when you see them."
Ancestor He calmly said that seeking revenge also required proper ways and methods. Who said revenge had to mean killing the enemy?
What if we catch them and control the situation? There are ways to uncover Xia Qingshan’s secrets.
If they could get Xia Qingshan’s skills, wouldn’t Shenmu Sect become the best in the world?
"Reporting to Ancestor, someone outside the mountain gate has brought a letter, asking Ancestor to open it."
As soon as Ancestor He finished speaking, a disciple hurried over.
"Bring it up."
Ancestor He didn’t think too much, asked someone to hand over a letter, which, upon opening, contained a few short words and a spiritual charm.
Ancestor He asked everyone to leave, then activated the spiritual charm.
"Taoist Friend Wu, is it necessary for us to meet like this?"
Ancestor He saw the apparition of Wu Zilin and chuckled lightly.
"Ancestor He, Wu cannot come in person, please forgive."
"Taoist Friend Wu, is there something wrong?"
"Yes, it concerns a major issue of life and death in the cultivation world."
"Then please advise us, Taoist Friend Wu."
"Ancestor He found out that Zhou Huaiying practiced the Blood Demon Manual."
"What, is this true?"
Ancestor He exclaimed, he really had no idea about this.
"This is absolutely true. I also went to Qing State back then..."
Wu Zilin spoke slowly, explaining the whole story. He didn’t know before that Zhou Huaiying was so good at hiding his secrets. It was during the battle in Qing State that Zhou Huaiying was exposed because he couldn’t defeat Lin Batian.
Wu Zilin suspected that the previous Tao Achieving cultivator from Tianxuan Sect might have been killed by Zhou Huaiying. Ancestor He was furious, killing one’s master is a serious crime among cultivators that everyone would condemn.
"Taoist Friend Wu, why didn’t you mention this earlier?"
"Ancestor He, how could I have mentioned it earlier? Zhou Huaiying’s identity was not revealed, and I had to consider saving face for both him and Tianxuan Sect. If other sects found out and attacked, he would have abandoned his identity, putting us all in danger, wouldn’t he?"
"That’s true, the Blood Demon Manual is extraordinary and quite powerful."
"Ancestor He, now is the chance. Zhou Huaiying is causing trouble by harming Xia Qingshan. I received news that Xia Qingshan was killed by Zhou Huaiying for the second time and will soon come back to life. We must work together to find Xia Qingshan early and give him a chance to curse Zhou Huaiying again, we must curse him to death."
"Xia Qingshan"
As soon as Ancestor He heard this name, he was angry. Ancestor Yu was also killed by him, causing Shenmu Sect to suffer heavy losses. For the past century, they had to shrink their power and have been laughed at for many years.
"Ancestor He, now is not the time to act recklessly. If Zhou Huaiying goes crazy, he will definitely target Tao Achieving. Shenmu Sect only has one Tao Achieving..."
Wu Zilin said, everyone knows that it is easy to pick on the weak. Although Danxia Sect’s Tao Achieving is not known for combat ability, they have three. Shenmu Sect only has one person left, this is how he persuaded the other sects.
You only have one Tao Achieving, you are the weak one, are you scared or not?
"Taoist Friend Wu, no need to say more. Zhou Huaiying practices evil techniques and will face destruction. Shenmu Sect will definitely support Tao Achieving."
Ancestor He felt uneasy as well when he heard this. Yes, he was alone. If Zhou Huaiying attacked, he would have to face him alone. It would be better to find more help.
"Alright, Ancestor He, the energy of my spiritual talisman is running low. Remember to keep this matter a secret and find Xia Qingshan as soon as possible."
Taoist Friend Wu reassured. I will go talk to Xia Qingshan sensibly and reasonably, I will definitely mobilize all available help.
Ancestor He nodded. The Shenmu Sect still has unresolved issues with Xia Qingshan, so it makes sense to find him.
