Outside Taixu Sect, Qing State
Taixu Sect is currently the top-ranked sect in Qing State. Although they don’t have any cultivators in the Tao Achieving Realm, they have six in the Void Achieving Realm. Taixu Sect is also different from other sects in that their high-ranking members are extremely united. Throughout multiple generations, they have had individuals who could keep everyone together. Despite the infiltration attempts by the Chen family for many years, they have not been able to gain control over Taixu Sect.
I tried very hard to stop Chen Zheng from harming anyone, because I didn’t want the Chen family to take over the Taixu Sect. Without the Chen family’s Tao Achieving Ancestor, they wouldn’t be able to forcefully attack the Void Achieving of the Taixu Sect. But I’m worried that the Tao Achieving Ancestors of the other two families might take action. We must stop them.
Lin Batian explained the current situation to everyone. The four major families, the Lin family has already been abolished. The Tao Achieving Ancestor of the Lin family passed away hundreds of years ago, and the Void Achieving died due to internal conflict. Now, the only Void Achieving left is the son-in-law of the Lu family, who is acting as the head of the Lin family. But he’s just a puppet.
The other three families each have their own Tao Achieving Ancestor. Chen Zheng was killed by Lin Batian a few years ago in the Divine Kingdom. The Chen family hasn’t produced a new Tao Achieving yet, so this is Lin Batian’s last chance.
"What about the other sects?"
"The Yu family has already eliminated the Tiandao Pavilion. There are intense battles happening in the Wilderness involving Void Achieving level fighters. It’s highly likely that the Void Achieving of the Tiandao Pavilion is already dead. The Infinite Palace and the Tiandao Gate haven’t made any moves yet, but based on the habits of the four major families, they’ll probably take action together."
"It’s true that the four major families have this habit. That’s why the Tiandao Gate and the Infinite Palace have already encountered trouble. They are just being very secretive about it and haven’t been discovered yet. Those fools, I already warned them, but not a single one believed me."
Lin Batian was furious. He had already sent people to warn these individuals, but it was useless. They simply didn’t believe him.
But if you think about it, it’s understandable. They have been brothers for hundreds or even thousands of years. Why would they believe a stranger with just a few words? It would be strange if they did.
"Leader, what should we do now? Even if we warn them, they won’t believe us. After all, we are outsiders, strangers to them."
"Father, it’s not good to directly take action. The Four Great Families will definitely go all out to take down Qing State’s treasure. There may be traps, and we can’t get involved."
"This is the difficult part. We haven’t been running Qing State for long, so we don’t have enough connections. No one listens to us when we speak. Xiao Yi, do you have any ideas?"
"Maybe there are."
"Then why not say it?"
"If something big happens in Qing State, like the structure diagram of the Green Emperor Tomb appearing, Qing State’s experts will definitely show up. And if Tiandao Pavilion, Tiandao Gate, and Infinite Palace all encounter problems, Taixu Sect will definitely be on alert."
"You’re coming up with bad ideas, kid. Yun State’s three sects weren’t wiped out because the Four Great Families were afraid of the structure diagram being leaked. Are you trying to destroy our Five Elements Sect?"
Lin Batian angrily scolded. Isn’t this just messing around? Do you know why our Five Elements Sect still exists? It’s because the structure diagram didn’t leak. If it did, the Void Achieving Ancestor would be at our doorstep.
"I’m just giving an example. It doesn’t have to be about this matter. Is there or isn’t there something else?"
"There’s nothing else. This method won’t work."
"Then we can only do our best and leave the rest to fate."
"No, I’m just like you. I won’t wait for opportunities to fall from the sky. Taixu Sect is my only hope. They are capable of holding back the four major families and even counterattacking. If Taixu Sect is also taken over, then Qing State will fall completely into the hands of the four major families, and my revenge will be even more hopeless."
Lin Batian shook his head. He and Lin Jiang had different personalities. He wasn’t passive like Lin Jiang, but more proactive, or you could say he had a more aggressive personality. It was something he was born with.
"In that case, we only have one last trick up our sleeve, which is to deceive and confuse."
"Go on."
"We can do this, you go first..."
Outside of Taixu Sect, there was a large city called Taixu City. It was founded and led by Taixu Sect and was well-known in Qing State. At this moment, Chen Jing of Taixu City met with his long-separated fellow clan members and was discussing their plan to take control of Taixu Sect.
"Among the six Void Achieving cultivators of Taixu Sect, I am only one of them, and I achieved the Void Achieving realm later than the others. My status within the sect is not as high as the other five. Over the years, I have tried to win over the others, but all my attempts have failed. Besides forcefully taking control, there is no other way."
Chen Jing spoke to the others and said that although the Taixu Sect has a long history, there was a period of weakness thousands of years ago. At that time, the Taixu Sect faced internal and external difficulties. It was only through the unity of the high-level members in the previous generation that the Taixu Sect regained its strength. This sense of unity has not disappeared yet. However, as a newly ascended Void Achieving, Chen Jing is actually younger than the other Void Achievings, so he cannot fit into their small circle or win them over.
"It is very difficult to forcibly take control. When the founding ancestor dies, our Chen family’s strength is actually weaker than the Taixu Sect’s. If all the Taixu Sect’s Void Achievings gather together, we wouldn’t stand a chance. But they are too scattered, and we are not confident enough to take them all down. Finding the perfect opportunity is too difficult."
"Can the other families help?"
"The Lin family is disabled, and the Yu and Lu families want to control Tiandao Pavilion and Infinite Palace. We have very few manpower available. Unless the ancestors of both families are willing to take action..."
"Then we must ask the ancestors to take action. We must take down the Taixu Sect. Otherwise, we can only rely on borrowing someone else’s power, which won’t allow us to cultivate a Tao Achieving Ancestor."
"If Chen Zheng, our ancestor, were still alive, there would be no fear. But since Chen Zheng passed away, I’m a little afraid."
One of the Chen family’s Void Achievings spoke, and everyone simultaneously thought about the Lin family. The Lin family also experienced the loss of their Tao Achieving Ancestor when their new ancestor had not been born yet. They were crippled by a joint effort of the three families. Now, the Chen family also lacks a Tao Achieving Ancestor, and they are afraid of facing the same fate as the Lin family.
The relationships among the four major families are not unbreakable. Many cases of sibling rivalry exist, let alone conflicts between people with different surnames. They must be on guard against each other.
"The other three families must have obtained what they wanted by now, right?"
"I received a message that the Lin family has obtained Hu Xia through bribery, Chen Kaifeng has died, and there is some commotion at the Tiandao Pavilion, but they are managing to hide it for now. The Lu family hasn’t taken any action against the Infinite Palace yet, but it’s expected that they will soon. Unfortunately, our Chen family has not made any progress."
"It would be great if Chen Zheng was here."
Everyone truly misses Chen Zheng’s presence. A Tao Achieving cultivator brings a lot of uncertainty. It feels really uncomfortable to have him restrained like this.
"Let’s not lose hope, let’s work hard for the Chen family."
"In the coming days, the actions of the other three families won’t be exposed yet. We still have time to prepare. When the time comes, we can borrow people from the other three families and maybe succeed."
Chen Jing comforted everyone. It’s not the time to feel discouraged just yet. The Chen family operates in the shadows, while the Taixu Sect is in the open. Plus, they have external support, so our chances of winning are still high.
"Alright, Chen Jing, we understand. I will contact the Yu family and the Lu family to see how many people they can lend us. Then we can plan accordingly. It would be best to divide and conquer the Void Achieving members of the Taixu Sect and take them down simultaneously."
"Sounds good, I’ll head back now."
Chen Jing nodded and then bid farewell to everyone. Before long, he returned to the entrance of Taixu Sect.
The Qing State was a prime location for cultivators to practice. Taixu Sect’s entrance had a high spiritual energy, so cultivators inside didn’t need to venture out often. They only occasionally traveled for exploration, spending most of their time diligently cultivating within the entrance.
"Junior Brother Chen."
Shortly after entering the entrance, a person called out to Chen Jing. Chen Jing turned around and saw one of Taixu Sect’s Void Achievers, Wei Dao.
"Senior Brother Wei, do you need something from Junior Brother?"
"Yes, come with me."
"Yes, Senior Brother."
Chen Jing followed Wei Dao and together they walked to the sect’s forbidden area. This was where the senior ancestors of the sect usually cultivated and regular disciples were not allowed to enter casually.
"Senior, is there something you need?"
"Junior, how long have you been at the sect?"
"I entered the sect when I was twelve years old, and it has been over sixteen hundred years since then."
"Your family has been disciples of the Taixu Sect for three generations, right?"
"To be more precise, it’s three and a half generations. My grandfather’s mother married a disciple of the Taixu Sect, so my grandfather was able to enter the sect. Brother, why are you asking about this?"
"It’s nothing, just curious. Since generations of your family are in the sect, when it comes to weighing the interests of the sect and the family, which would you choose?"
"Of course, it would be the sect. My family has received great kindness from the sect. Without the sect, there would be no family."
"Well said, everyone come out now."
Wei Dao nodded, and then a group of people walked out from behind him. When Chen Jing saw Lin Batian, his face quickly became gloomy.
