Chapter 473:
He State
The people and horses from Yun State had been in He State for seven days, all the 500,000 people and horses had been transported over, but Cao Ying didn’t launch a large-scale attack on the demon tribe in He State.
They only engaged in guerrilla warfare in small team mode, ranging from three to five people, to as many as thirty to fifty people, moving quickly, maneuvering behind the demon tribe, hunting down some lone demon beasts. Occasionally, multiple teams would cooperate to hunt down some small groups of demon beasts.
This kind of tactic is very good for Yun State because they can eliminate over a thousand monsters every day, with very few losses on their own side. Compared to direct attacks, they have a big advantage.
Of course, the downside is that there are no immediate results. Cultivators from He State are still surrounded, and monsters continue to roam freely in He State.
A few days later, Lin Die and Zhou Huaiying appeared in He State. Lin Jiang hurried to report to Lin Die about Yun State’s recent performance.
"Zhou Huaiying, what do you think?"
"Master, you have been deceived by him."
"Oh, how was I deceived?"
"He didn’t follow your orders at all. With hundreds of thousands of troops in He State, less than thirty thousand are deployed daily. The number of monsters hunted is also exaggerated. He is avoiding battles, he is scared of fighting."
Zhou Huaiying immediately said, at that moment, Lin Jiang even thought about killing Zhou Huaiying.
Lin Jiang did indeed exaggerate many achievements. Guerilla warfare is about accumulating small victories. It has only been a few days, so there have been no significant achievements. Lin Jiang also wanted to avoid casualties for the troops of Yun State, but this guy had to be so direct about it.
"Is it true, my dear Sixth Brother?"
"Don’t listen to him, Third Sister. He doesn’t know anything. We people from Yun State are not familiar with the environment of He State. We don’t even know how strong the demon tribe across from us is. We are just gathering information."
"Is that so?"
"Yes, that’s correct."
"When will the information gathering be completed? Will three more days be enough? And what about launching a large-scale attack after three days?"
"Third Sister, can I ask you a question? What is the purpose of urging us to attack? There must be a reason behind everyone’s actions. If you have a goal in mind, you can tell us. It doesn’t have to be this way."
After a moment of silence, Lin Jiang said. With three days, guerrilla warfare cannot turn the tide of the battle. That’s why he wants to know Lin Die’s purpose.
"I simply think that there are too many people in this world and a few more deaths wouldn’t hurt, don’t you think? Of course, demons too."
"End of the world."
As soon as Lin Jiang heard it, he blurted out.
Lin Die’s eyes sparkled, and she immediately said. It seems like you know a lot.
"Why destroy the world?"
"Don’t you already have an answer in your heart, Lin Jiang? Looking at the face of your Third Sister, besides destroying the world, a few people can still survive. You can be one of them, but you must cooperate well with me."
"I can’t understand why people and demons in this world have offended you. Why do you have to destroy the world?"
"I don’t want to explain. I just need you to do as I say. My patience is limited. If you don’t do it, I’ll do it myself."
Lin Die said that a major battle is the quickest way to destroy the world; otherwise, she would have taken matters into her own hands long ago.
"Master, I can also help you solve problems. If he doesn’t want to do it, I will. By killing the high-level officials of Yun State, I can control them."
Zhou Huaiying immediately said. Start a fight, start a fight quickly, so he can rise to power.
"Shut up, Zhou Huaiying, I could have killed you"
"Hmph, only my master has the right to kill me, not you"
"You scum"
Lin Jiang was furious, the most despicable in the world are not enemies, but traitors, Zhou Huaiying, this treacherous man, must be killed.
"I’ve given you reasons, you deal with it yourselves, three days, if you don’t act, I’ll do it myself, but you will surely die"
Lin Die left a few words and walked away gracefully, nobody knew where she went.
Although Lin Jiang felt heavy-hearted, he still discussed the matter with Cao Ying and the others.
"Lin Die is trying to force us into a corner, we have to fight back against her."
Cao Ying couldn’t bear it, Lin Die was leading them to a dead end.
"Don’t be impulsive."
"Even in this situation, must you endure? Do we truly have to wait until someone is threatening us before we resist? Will there be time then?"
"No, I need to review some things."
"What for?"
"Do you remember Xia Qingshan?"
"I do, what about him?"
While we were at the hidden place of the four major families in Qing State, I overheard some conversations between Lin Batian, Yang Luo, and Green Emperor about good and evil thoughts, mentioning achieving immortality and world destruction.
After that, Xia Qingshan suddenly appeared. His appearance wasn’t random; someone orchestrated it. He then spent three hundred years, almost doubling the power of the cultivation world, and later, the demon clan chose a Demon Emperor...
"I didn’t understand."
Cao Ying shook her head, this doesn’t make any sense.
"I’m starting to figure it out. In short, in the current cultivation world war, there are people pushing for it and people responding to it. Whether we obey what Lin Die says or not, it will happen."
"Do you mean Lin Die is leading this?"
"Yes, more precisely it’s the one inside Lin Die. I don’t know exactly what it is, but it must be the one qualified to ascend to immortality. It made us go north to fight against the demon race, for the destruction of the world, for ascension to immortality. And perhaps the demon race is doing the same."
"So what should we do?"
"The tide of the world is vast and mighty. Those who follow will prosper, those who resist will perish. Little Ying, our strength is too weak, we cannot control the situation. So we can only follow."
"But we will die, and the Yun State will be destroyed."
"No, it won’t. There is still hope. If we follow, there will definitely be hope."
"How can you be sure there will be hope?"
"In the mysterious plan, there is a special place for me. Yun State is very important to me, as my little sister is there. I won’t harm you all, trust me this time."
Lin Jiang realized a lot at this moment. Many people are scheming, including within Lin Die, Xia Qingshan, and even the demon clan.
Lin Jiang and his friends were too weak to be players in the scheming game, so they could only be obedient pawns. In their desperate situation, Lin Jiang believed in someone, giving them hope.
"Attack!"
After three days, the soldiers of Yun State made tactical changes, focusing on full-on attacks instead of guerrilla warfare.
With Cao Ying’s command, a full army of fifty thousand soldiers launched an attack, divided into five routes, each with hundreds of airships providing cover from above, heading towards the demon army.
"Taoist friend from the Sky Mountain Sect, you can break through now. Attack from within, and we will flank the demon clan."
Shortly after the charge, Lin Jiang sent a message to the Sky Mountain Sect in He State, who quickly responded and sent troops to charge as agreed.
Sky Mountain Sect is one of the powerful sects in He State, although not the strongest, they have gathered many allies and a large army. Together with the Five Elements Sect, they quickly defeated the monster army.
"Don’t stop, keep chasing them until we get rid of them all."
Despite seeing the monsters retreating, Lin Jiang kept chasing after them, even when he was far from his allies. He only stopped when no one was left by his side.
"Too many people have died, they shouldn’t have to face this fate."
On the way back, Lin Jiang saw Cao Ying standing by the bodies of fallen warriors from Yun State. When she saw Lin Jiang approaching, she expressed her sadness.
"Little Ying, it’s unfortunate for us to live in such a world. We’re not saints, so we must protect ourselves."
Lin Jiang comforted Cao Ying, knowing she felt guilty for sending those people to their deaths. But in a world full of schemes and conspiracies, they were just pawns without the power to negotiate.
"I’m just reflecting. I trust your decisions."
Cao Ying nodded, feeling exhausted by the cruel world and its plots. She wished she could be a simple soldier in battle rather than dealing with manipulations.
"Okay, I’m coming, I’ve got everything."
Lin Jiang replied, feeling really sorry seeing Cao Ying looking tired.
Like Lin Ying, Cao Ying was not good at scheming. So, Lin Jiang decided to deal with the bad guy himself. He didn’t mind if they scolded him in the future.
After the battle to rescue Sky Mountain Sect ended, the soldiers from Yun State started cleaning up the battlefield and treating their injuries. Lin Jiang took Cao Ying and others to the entrance of Sky Mountain Sect. This time, Lin Jiang needed to convince the people from Sky Mountain Sect to cooperate with Yun State and completely defeat the monster army in He State.
It was Lin Die’s request and also a necessity. Yun State had only a few people, so if they used up all their resources, they would be left with nothing. That’s why Lin Jiang needed the help of Taoist friends from He State to join them as pawns. No one could escape. That was the real end of the world.
