Year 6155 in the Xia calendar, winter
When Shen Continent entered winter, Fangzhang Continent entered summer. Thunderstorms and typhoons frequently occurred in Fangzhang Continent.
Advanced cultivators and monsters have the ability to locally change the weather. Even extreme weather conditions can be altered with proper preparation.
But now, nobody wants to do these things. Firstly, it’s too much effort, and nobody wants to waste their energy for nothing. Secondly, doing so may disrupt the world’s order, like typhoons. Some areas rely on typhoons for a lot of rainfall. If suddenly there are no typhoons, the environment in that area may change drastically, leading to unpredictable consequences. The butterfly effect is quite terrifying.
On a stormy night, Demon Queen Lin Fanghua quietly left Demon God Temple, swiftly flying through the dark clouds and thunderstorm clouds, ascending higher and higher.
"So this is space. It looks very different from the pictures of the human world."
Reaching beyond the atmosphere, Lin Fanghua gazed at the vast expanse of space, so dark with only a few celestial bodies emitting faint light, but it was not very helpful.
In space, there is no air to carry sound, and no spiritual energy. The environment is very unfriendly to the demon clan, which is why their ancestors used to enjoy playing in space.
"So this is a satellite."
After flying around the atmosphere for some time, Demon Queen Lin Fanghua spotted a satellite. Regular satellites don’t have propulsion and rely on the gravitational pull of celestial bodies. To Lin Fanghua, it looked like an easy target.
"*Boom*"
With just a burst of demonic energy, Lin Fanghua shattered the satellite. Satellites, being advanced technology, are also quite delicate and can’t withstand much damage.
"Beep, beep, alert, alert, satellite number 5980 has lost contact·····"
"Beep, beep, beep, alert, alert, satellite number 6042 has lost contact····"
"Beep, beep, beep····"
At the Huaxia Space Agency, alarms rang throughout the control center, and the staff inside were on high alert. They quickly activated the alarm switch and began searching for the lost satellites.
Soon, a large group of senior officials from the Space Agency arrived at the control center, asking what had happened, but no one had any information.
"Start the propulsion satellites to adjust speed and observation direction to monitor the nearby satellites."
"Inform Qingyun and Zhou Liao····"
"Immediately inform the space station and Lunar Base·····"
The leaders quickly gave orders. They were all experts in technology and knew that it was unlikely for satellite technology to fail on a large scale. There must have been some kind of incident happening in space.
There are thousands of satellites in space now, and ninety percent of them are launched by the Alliance Three Countries. Some of them were launched by other countries with the help of the Alliance Three Countries, but the control is all in their hands.
A few hours later, they found the problem. Both the space station and the Lunar Base captured the reason for the satellite malfunction – they were being destroyed by someone. Even though that person was thousands of miles away from the satellites, wherever she went, the satellites exploded.
"Send a message out, send a message to Haigang City, the demon tribe has taken to the sky."
The leaders of the space agency said in fear that even if humans had taken to the sky, they would not cause such senseless destruction to the satellites. So, there was only one possibility – it must have been the demon tribe.
When Lin Jiang received the message in Haigang City, over forty satellites in the sky had already been destroyed, including some of the global positioning system satellites, military satellites, weather satellites, and more. This doesn’t even include the satellites from other areas like Qingyun and Zhou Liao, totaling over a hundred satellites destroyed.
"Sir..."
"I know about the situation. First, tell me about the impact."
"The global satellite positioning system has already been affected. The space agency has suggested suspending the use of the system in the name of system updates."
"I agree, let’s do it now."
Lin Jiang said. This is about people’s lives. If the global satellite positioning system has a problem, it will greatly affect people’s lives, such as air travel. Without satellite positioning, accidents can easily happen.
"Immediately dispatch relevant experts to assess the impact and prepare for the worst-case scenario. Get them to take urgent action."
Lin Jiang added, "I don’t know what will happen if those satellites are destroyed, but the experts surely know. We must take steps to prevent losses."
"Please continue..."
"Yes, sir. Right now, my biggest concern is the space station. Based on the situation in space, the space station will be discovered in up to six hours and it costs trillions of Huaxia coins to build. There are dozens of astronauts and scientists on board, and they have no means of defense..."
The expert continued, "The space station is still being transformed into a space-based weapon, which is not yet completed. There are many astronauts and scientists onboard, and the cost is astronomical. If something happens to the space station, Huaxia will incur immeasurable losses."
"Uncle, I’ll go."
"Lin Fanghua is the one going to space without any accidents, are you up for it?"
"We fought, even if we can’t win, we can still protect ourselves."
"I’ll give you the Spatiotemporal Mirror, you refine and bond with it on your way, bring extra supplies."
Lin Jiang said that he knew they had to go to space, if they didn’t, all satellites would be destroyed, causing great loss to Huaxia.
These satellites were accumulated over decades, even centuries, it would take a long time to replenish them, even with funds and technology, it would greatly impact daily life, even affecting the war on Fangzhang Continent.
Cao Ying nodded, quickly left, this was her first space battle, she had no experience but had to face it bravely.
Lin Jiang immediately instructed the space agency to come up with a solution to save the satellites, they were divided into many orbits, such as synchronous satellites, geostationary satellites, some with propulsion, they needed to escape Lin Fanghua’s attacks quickly.
The key point was the space station, it had its own propulsion, constantly adjusting its height to avoid gravitational forces pulling it down, now they needed to use this propulsion to evade attacks.
Lin Jiang was clueless about the technical details, so he relied on experts to devise strategies.
More and more people were communicating with Lin Jiang through video, seeking permission and support, Lin Jiang mostly granted them, he always respected technology, if he didn’t understand, he let the experts handle it.
"Teacher, the screen has switched to three perspectives: satellite, space station, and Lunar Base, and now Lunar Base is the most comprehensive..."
Several hours later, Lin Jiang disconnected all video links and gave all the video feeds to Cao Ying with the support of the satellite. With that help, Cao Ying quickly located Lin Fanghua.
"So satellites are important to you all."
When Lin Fanghua saw Cao Ying appear, her eyes lit up. It wasn’t just the satellite, but space itself that was so crucial for the human race.
Nowadays, most flying forces need technical support from space. Without satellite positioning, the power of aircraft would be greatly weakened, affecting air dominance and naval power. Lin Fanghua didn’t fully understand these aspects, but she stumbled upon something important.
"Lin Fanghua, it’s impolite not to greet your great aunt."
Cao Ying communicated with Lin Fanghua through mental waves, even though sound couldn’t travel through the space between them.
"Great aunt, well, you’re something too."
"Your father used to bring me here when he was young. By the way, have you met your aunt yet?"
"Hmm."
Lin Fanghua coldly hmphed and marched over. She was not pleased with her father, not for his indiscretions, but for his indecision between the human and demon races. He sat on the fence and didn’t take a side.
But to Lin Fanghua, Small Shadiao’s actions felt like a betrayal to the demon race. In her eyes, Small Shadiao should have chosen the demons. Being a demon himself, with a demon wife, daughter, and son, how could he give up on them?
Moreover, Small Shadiao held a high position in the demon race, all thanks to the Peng Bird Clan’s favor. Yet he showed no gratitude, which only angered Lin Fanghua when Cao Ying brought it up.
Lin Fanghua’s approach delighted Cao Ying, as this was exactly what she wanted. She aimed to draw Lin Fanghua in before anything else; otherwise, with Lin Fanghua’s speed, she could easily destroy all the spacecrafts. Cao Ying found it hard to resist.
As the human and demon clashed, both were top experts of their respective races. In terms of cultivation, the Demon Queen had the upper hand, but Cao Ying excelled in equipment. With several top treasures on her and now the Spatiotemporal Mirror in hand, she didn’t stand a chance.
