Penglai Continent
Most of Zhou Liao’s troops have retreated to the defense line of Qingyun, while the natives in the northern part of Penglai Continent have been abandoned. They are mostly ordinary people or soldiers strengthened with genetic drugs, and their speed couldn’t keep up, falling behind and becoming cannon fodder in the rear.
The demon clan ordered the slaughter of these indigenous soldiers, but they quickly found that these soldiers resisted more fiercely than expected. Most of these enhanced soldiers have the strength of around Qi refining stage late, along with a large amount of abandoned weapons and ammunition. They surprisingly didn’t have much advantage against third-tier or lower demons in one-on-one battles.
At this moment, the indigenous soldiers also erupted with a much greater combat power than before. In their past internal wars, they were considered trash, but now it’s different. It’s a racial war now. If they don’t resist, the demons will devour them.
Therefore, they had no choice but to fight to the death.
It wasn’t until the appearance of a high-ranking Demon King that their resistance was suppressed. Afterward, the demon clan used the gap in Zhou Liao’s defense line as a breakthrough point and stormed into the northern part of Penglai Continent.
The countries in the northern part of Penglai Continent didn’t have much military power and soon many cities were breached, leading to numerous ordinary citizens fleeing for their lives.
Outside of the Leon Base, tens of thousands of refugees appeared at this time. They were all from nearby cities and they all knew that this was now the safest place in Penglai Continent.
Leon Base could accommodate hundreds of thousands of people, but they didn’t have enough food to feed them. The food for Leon Base was all transported from Huaxia, who wouldn’t be so generous – only a few people could enter.
"They are all a group of poor people."
"Yes, they don’t know that Leon Base is also not safe to stay in. It’s just surviving for a while longer."
"It’s a shame, there are a few native military officers who look promising, not sure how many people they can take away with them in the end."
Some cultivators from Huaxia were watching all this and secretly discussing. The countries in the northern part of Penglai were all destined to be cannon fodder, even Leon Base was part of their abandoned plan. The Spiritual Stone Mine had completely stopped production, and they began to retreat secretly.
Inside the command center, Lin Hongcong didn’t pay attention to the refugees’ situation. If it weren’t for the native soldiers helping to guard the front line, he wouldn’t even bother wasting food to take in a few people.
Lin Hongcong was carefully watching the front line situation displayed by artificial intelligence. After the collapse of Zhou Liao’s front line, their overall strength had increased as at least three hundred thousand people had entered the Qingyun front line.
However, the situation in the entire Penglai was deteriorating because the demons had invaded the heartland of the northern Penglai Continent along Zhou Liao’s front line. Their entire rear area was no longer safe.
"Luckily, Leon doesn’t rely on supplies from Penglai Continent, otherwise just for logistics, we would be finished."
After reading the whole report, Lin Hongcong felt relieved. "Phew, thankfully they never planned to rely on Penglai Continent, or else it would have been a disaster."
"Sir, we need to prepare for a retreat."
"Have all non-military personnel evacuated?"
"Everyone should be evacuated by tomorrow. Military personnel will follow the agreement and retreat with us, including the teams from Qingyun and Zhou Liao."
"Hold on for a few more days. Let Qingyun and Zhou Liao’s teams abandon their positions and retreat to our side at Leon Base. There will be a large number of war robots coming to hold the line for a moment. The last group of people will leave by military ship."
Lin Hongcong pondered, "The question is how to evacuate safely. Right now, I can’t say for sure. We need to analyze and calculate with artificial intelligence. We will only know at the last moment."
"Yes, sir."
"We have fifteen days left until completing the task given by the ancestors. Let’s keep pushing through."
Lin Hongcong waved his hand, feeling that enduring this was extremely tough, especially since only half of the time had passed.
In the Demon Tribe’s main camp, the Demon Queen received reports from various Demon Kings and learned that most of the northern part of the Penglai Continent had been taken over, making her very pleased.
However, the Demon Tribe also suffered heavy losses this time. They were hit by several nuclear bombs. Although the high-ranking Demon Kings managed to escape early, many ordinary demon beasts died.
Moreover, the central area of the nuclear bombs was instinctively avoided by the Demon Tribe. The nuclear radiation caused significant harm to the low-ranking demons. Currently, there are no noticeable effects due to the short time since the exposure. But in the long run, there will definitely be hidden dangers.
"Demon Queen, here are some materials from the human side about radiation. This radiation causes significant harm to ordinary humans, leading to mutations in their bodies. Most humans will suffer and die in agony because of it. It also has a significant impact on animals, resulting in many deformed offspring. In short, there will be uncontrollable changes in the offspring of animals. As for our demon tribe, we have no data yet."
The Heavenly Fox Demon King presented a document to the Demon Queen to view. Nuclear radiation is very frightening, which is why the humans are very cautious and reluctant to release it recklessly.
"Can our captives make nuclear weapons?"
"No, I asked before. The requirements for making nuclear weapons are too high. Our captives do have talents in this area, but the industry in Penglai Continent doesn’t allow it."
"Is there no chance for development?"
"Unless we serve those human captives like masters for hundreds of years, it may be possible."
The Heavenly Fox Demon King explained that making nuclear weapons requires a large industrial capacity and a strong energy source. Unfortunately, Penglai Continent doesn’t have the ability for this. Before the demon clan arrived, Penglai Continent’s economy was controlled by others, so there was no chance for them.
"Such a powerful weapon cannot be used by me, it’s a pity."
"Demon Queen, can our scouts destroy these human weapons? Otherwise, they pose a great threat to us."
"No chance, I’ve checked."
Thinking about the scouts made the Demon Queen have a headache. She had hoped her father could make a contribution, as he was the most familiar with humans among the demon clan. However, her father just indulged in eating, drinking, and having fun, and didn’t do anything else.
"Don’t think too much. We demons have our strengths. Let’s quickly organize our forces and prepare for another attack."
The Demon Queen shook her head and decided not to worry so much. She understood that no matter what, they couldn’t match the humans in terms of technology. This was determined by their races. However, the demon clan also had its advantages. By utilizing them well, they could still win.
In the following days, the demon clan didn’t launch large-scale attacks. They were regaining their strength. The many demon beasts that had died served as nourishment for the other demons, as well as the hundreds of millions of common people in the northern part of Penglai Continent. Their flesh and blood would continuously strengthen the demon clan.
Several days later, the demon tribe regrouped and attacked again, this time leading with the Demon Insect to exhaust the resources of the human tribe.
The strong nation of Alliance Three Countries supported them, without which Penglai Continent could not sustain such intense warfare. They were running out of bullets and shells within a day.
This time, the battle extended to the sea, with Leon Base located not far from the coast. There was a large naval port nearby, where two aircraft carrier fleets of Huaxia were docked.
The demon tribe sought to control sea beasts and create chaos by attacking Leon Base with huge waves, leading to a fierce battle at the seaside.
The fate of many people depended on the relationship between the port and the naval fleet in terms of evacuation. Huaxia was determined not to give up easily, as Lin Hongcong dispatched tens of thousands of troops to defend vigorously.
"Boom, boom"
Deep-sea bombs were dropped into the water, causing whirlpools and blood to surface, including terrifying sea beasts.
Groups of cultivators bravely fought in the water because the human tribe lacked underwater weaponry compared to the surface and needed the help of many cultivators.
"There are too many sea demons. Brother Zhu, go set up formations. Offensive formations on the outer layer, defensive formations on the inner layer."
There were several urgent battles at the seaside, which took up a lot of manpower. The artificial intelligence warned many times, and Lin Hongcong sent skilled people to support.
"Yes, focus on the front battle, Senior Brother Lin is watching. I’m not that fast."
"Don’t worry, everything’s fine."
Lin Hongcong nodded. He still had some cards up his sleeve and plenty of cannon fodder yet to be deployed. Additionally, many batches of war robots had been sent over.
The Formation Master left, and Lin Hongcong looked back at the main battlefield. With the forces retracted, their firepower was enhanced. The high-level Yao tribe leaders were still cautious about personally entering the battlefield, keeping the situation tense.
In fact, Lin Hongcong really hoped that the high-level Yao tribe leaders like Lin Fanghua would personally enter the base because there was a nuclear bomb inside. If they broke into the base, Lin Hongcong would not hesitate to detonate the nuclear bomb. Their command room was deep underground and designed to withstand nuclear attacks, so they would be safe. However, Lin Fanghua and the others might not be so lucky. Unfortunately, their danger instinct was too strong, and they were not willing to take the risk.
