"Alright, I know all about that little scheme of yours."
"But if I’m not mistaken, you want the company to give the Alliance more money, right?"
Lin Feng casually revealed what was on Lin Xiaoman’s mind.
"Er... you could say that..."
Lin Xiaoman wasn’t the least bit surprised that Lin Feng had so accurately guessed what she was thinking.
After all, in her heart, her brother had long been the most incredible person she knew.
How could she possibly hide this little matter from her omniscient brother?
"Then just fill out an approval form and submit it to the finance department."
"You’re at the same level now, so all you have to do is apply, present a feasible plan, and we can hold a meeting to discuss it."
"If it’s a good plan, it’ll pass with a unanimous vote, and then however much you ask for, we’ll give you. Simple as that."
Lin Feng watched his blushing sister with a faint smile, waiting to hear how she would explain herself.
’If the finance department would approve my application, would I have needed to come all the way here with a bag of wife cakes to beg you?’
Lin Xiaoman grumbled to herself.
In truth, she couldn’t blame the finance director for holding up the request. It was just that the Streamer Alliance was no longer made up of only Douhu streamers.
In fact, half of its members were streamers from other platforms.
So, while the Alliance was still nominally affiliated with Douhu, it had essentially become an independent organization.
Therefore, if Douhu were to fund such an organization by itself, it would inevitably benefit streamers from other platforms as well.
While Douhu wasn’t a stingy company, spending money on others was something that required careful consideration.
Especially since the company was busy restructuring its corporate framework recently, and the finance department had been conducting an internal audit.
They were also developing a new detailed expense reimbursement process, and the finance director had sent many of his people out to communicate with the various departments.
Because of all this, the finance director had originally planned to shelve the matter and revisit it after this busy period was over.
But Lin Xiaoman really couldn’t wait any longer.
After all, the Alliance’s membership was growing exponentially, and they desperately needed a better office space.
Likewise, as their numbers grew, so did their expenses.
So in the end, her only option was to run to her brother, hoping he would make an exception for her and give her some money.
"Brother, I’m not just doing this for myself."
"Think about it. If our Alliance can bring together all the streamers from across the entire internet..."
"Then I can subtly instill our corporate culture in them."
"And then, if all these streamers join us, won’t the platforms with no streamers left just collapse?"
"So you see, I’m not just doing this for myself, or even just for the Alliance. More importantly, I want to make money for our company—for you!~"
Hearing this, Lin Feng played along, his face lighting up with a huge grin, his eyes sparkling with a greedy light!
Seeing her brother so delighted, Lin Xiaoman felt a surge of confidence.
"So how much money do you want?~"
"Not much. Since our numbers are constantly growing, I think we might need our own separate office space. I’ve already scouted out the 18th floor of that office building downtown. The location is convenient, the rent is reasonable, and the number is lucky, too."
"Then there are the other miscellaneous costs, like membership fees, and I want to make custom shirts for everyone, maybe organize a team-building event... that’s all small stuff. So, all in all, it should come to around 20 million or so!"
After she finished, Lin Xiaoman looked at her brother, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Twenty million? That’s way too little!"
"I mean, if our Alliance is going to be number one in the industry..."
"...why not just buy a whole skyscraper? Or even better, let’s just build one."
"Then the Alliance will have its own real estate under its name. Wouldn’t that count as a fixed asset?"
"Oh, and speaking of fixed assets, you could also give every streamer a car."
"We can register them under the company’s name for a tax deduction. And then we have to take all the streamers on a trip."
"Like, we’ve got to see the beaches of Hawaii, the sunsets in Los Angeles... so I’ll take the liberty of giving you two hundred million. Go nuts!"
Lin Feng said with a grand wave of his hand, his tone exceptionally magnanimous.
The light in Lin Xiaoman’s eyes was about to burst forth.
Lin Xiaoman truly hadn’t expected her brother to be so generous and easygoing.
She had been a little embarrassed to even mention the figure of twenty million, but she never imagined her brother would directly offer her two hundred million!
"Wow, Brother, you’re seriously the best!"
"You’re the dearest, most beloved person in the world to me! So, where do I pick up the money?"
"Or are you just going to give me your bank card?"
Lin Xiaoman was already starting to plan in her head.
How she would show off to the other streamers after getting the two hundred million.
And how she would definitely take them all on a great trip, using the two hundred million to really win them over!
"Well, two hundred million in liquid capital... it’ll take a bit of time to pull that together all at once."
"Give me three days. I’ll sell the company, and then sell off all these tables and chairs... with all the bits and pieces, that should just about scrape together two hundred million. Then I’ll give you the bank card, how about that..."
Lin Feng said, teasing her.
But on the other side, the light in Lin Xiaoman’s eyes gradually dimmed.
"Er..."
"It’s fine, what’s two hundred million to me?"
"It’s just a big company, right? We’ll just sell it, and you can keep running your Alliance. Then I’ll have to depend on you to support me."
"Just the two of us, depending on each other. It hasn’t been easy for us to grow up, right?"
"I’m sure you’ll be able to take very good care of me..."
"Brother...!"
Lin Xiaoman finally couldn’t help but interrupt Lin Feng.
"What’s wrong?"
"I know the number I asked for might be a lot, but I was following a standard!"
"And think about it! If we really want to expand our influence and increase our publicity, we need to create word-of-mouth among the streamers."
"That’s why we have to win over these streamers! It’s not like I’m just going to squander this money on myself!"
Lin Xiaoman suddenly felt incredibly wronged.
After all, she wasn’t just taking the money to go have fun. It was for the Alliance, and on a larger scale, it was for all of Douhu!
"Here, have some tea first."
Lin Feng poured the freshly brewed tea into the cup in front of Lin Xiaoman.
"I know you really want to do a better job with this venture of yours, and this is your first time managing such a large alliance. It seems all the streamers are completely loyal to you."
"So you don’t want to let anyone down. You’ve even started to see them as your family because they’re always encouraging you, always revolving around you as the center of their world."
Lin Xiaoman nodded.
Because this period had truly been the happiest and most glorious time of her life.
Although she had always been a very confident person growing up, Lin Xiaoman had never been adored by so many people before.
So, Lin Xiaoman always felt that others had placed 100% of their trust in her.
’Then I absolutely have to achieve something to be worthy of their trust.’
Besides, this whole endeavor was nothing but beneficial, with no downsides whatsoever, for both herself and the entire company!
"But have you ever thought that if you act as their personal money tree, granting every request..."
"...then your relationship with them will become tainted by money."
"Even the streamers who started this ’rebellion’ with you will slowly start to see you as nothing more than a source of funding."
"Maintaining a relationship isn’t just about you constantly giving. It’s about working together to create something. Twenty million might seem like a lot, but in my eyes, it’s not a huge number."
"But if this twenty million leads you to develop a habit of footing the bill for everyone and solving every problem with money, then that twenty million isn’t just money anymore—it’s a parasite!"
As he spoke, Lin Feng picked up his teacup and took a gentle sip.
"But our development right now really does need money!"
Lin Xiaoman still felt incredibly wronged.
