While those three were enjoying their time in Cyan Mountain Town, Lin Feng was at the university library.
He needed some materials for one of his final exams.
So, Lin Feng had come to the university library early.
Because he had been featured in the campus magazine, on top of all the rumors circulating about him at the university,
when Lin Feng arrived at the library and found a seat,
he couldn’t help but notice people pretending to be casual as they walked past him.
And as they passed, their eyes would always steal a glance or two at him.
Most of these people were female students.
Lin Feng knew exactly what was on their minds.
Although their gazes were mostly filled with curiosity and admiration,
for Lin Feng, the only reason he had come to the library was to look up some information.
These girls kept pacing back and forth in front of him.
Even though they were trying their best to be quiet,
it was still getting on Lin Feng’s nerves.
When yet another slender girl walked by,
Lin Feng stood up impatiently, took the materials he was holding directly to the librarian’s desk, and said, "Please check this out for me. I want to borrow these materials."
Lin Feng’s voice was cold. The librarian glanced at the materials he handed over and said with some regret, "This is from the library’s fourth-floor collection. It can’t be checked out."
A portion of the books in the library, being original copies or quite rare, were part of the non-circulating collection.
Clearly, the materials Lin Feng had found belonged to this collection.
Lin Feng frowned. The library wasn’t like a hotel where he could get a private room.
The intense curiosity of these girls was seriously distracting him.
Frowning deeply, Lin Feng placed the materials on the counter without saying a word.
A silent atmosphere hung in the air.
The librarian didn’t know what to do either.
She had also noticed the commotion caused by the female students earlier.
But the girls were just walking around with books in their hands; they hadn’t actually approached and disturbed Lin Feng.
Therefore, the librarian couldn’t say anything. After all, everyone had the right to walk around the library normally.
Just then, a familiar voice called out, "Isn’t this Xiaolin?"
Both Lin Feng and the librarian looked up toward the source of the voice.
They saw a man with a kind smile walking over.
This person was none other than the dean of Lin Feng’s college, Dean Zhao.
Dean Zhao had noticed Lin Feng before.
Plus, after Lin Feng was featured in the campus magazine, he had, in a way, brought honor to their college.
So, even though Dean Zhao and Lin Feng didn’t interact much on a daily basis,
Dean Zhao had a very good impression of him.
Today, Dean Zhao had come to the library to look up some materials for an academic seminar.
He had just finished his research and came out to see Lin Feng sitting at a nearby table, also seemingly looking at some materials.
At first, Dean Zhao just assumed he was doing some normal review for the upcoming finals.
But after a short while, Dean Zhao noticed that the foot traffic around Lin Feng was a little too frequent.
As someone who was once young himself, how could Dean Zhao not understand the minds of these young men and women?
Then he saw the scene where an impatient Lin Feng tried to check out the materials, only to be stopped by the librarian.
Seeing it was Dean Zhao, Lin Feng greeted him.
Dean Zhao glanced at the materials Lin Feng was trying to borrow—data from a certain economic period.
Dean Zhao quite admired Lin Feng.
So, within his authority, he was willing to do him a favor.
Dean Zhao asked Lin Feng, "It looks like you need a quiet place. Why don’t you come with me?"
Lin Feng also wanted to go somewhere quiet.
So he nodded lightly. "In that case, I’ll have to trouble you, Dean Zhao."
Smiling, Dean Zhao led Lin Feng to an office in the library.
"This is a place for professors and senior faculty to use when they come to do research. It’s a semi-private office area."
"But no one should be using it at this time. You can review your materials here in peace."
When Lin Feng entered the office, all he saw were empty desks and chairs.
The office seemed to be unused.
Lin Feng was very satisfied with the place and thanked Dean Zhao with a smile.
Dean Zhao beamed and patted Lin Feng’s shoulder. "I have high hopes for a young man like you. Study hard."
After Dean Zhao left, Lin Feng sat down in a chair and began to study the thick volume of materials.
His paper for an economics course’s final exam depended on this set of materials.
Without the distraction of people walking back and forth, Lin Feng was able to go through the materials very quickly.
He thoroughly absorbed all the information in one afternoon.
With exams starting next week, this was the first time the freshmen would be tested by the university.
It was also their first experience with an exam format other than the college entrance exams.
University exams were nothing like those in high school.
Many professors’ questions were very flexible and weren’t strictly based on the textbook.
You couldn’t find the answers just by rote memorization.
More often than not, they required students to demonstrate their way of thinking.
They were a test of one’s critical thinking skills.
That’s why, during this period, students who wanted to get high scores were all holed up in the library.
It’s just that some people found the right method, while others were still stuck in the high-school habit of rote memorization.
As Lin Feng was leaving the library, he saw some people memorizing texts with their eyes closed.
Outside the library, Lin Feng immediately spotted Su Ruoxi waiting for him by the entrance.
Su Ruoxi was exceptionally beautiful, standing there with a graceful and elegant posture.
Holding a book in her hand, she exuded a strong scholarly air.
A beauty like her, just standing there, naturally attracted countless gazes.
Su Ruoxi had just happened to be passing by the library, so she sent Lin Feng a message, wanting to head back with him.
That was why she was waiting for a bit at the library entrance.
But unexpectedly, after just standing across from the library for a short while,
someone started hitting on her.
A short, thin man about 1.7 meters tall, with his hair slicked back.
His eyes were fixed on Su Ruoxi’s face.
A faintly sleazy expression was on his face.
He walked up to Su Ruoxi with a smirk and said, "Hey, miss. I lost my campus card. I was wondering if I could borrow yours for a second?"
