8:00 AM.
After all the students had arrived,
the class advisor for Lin Feng’s class finally appeared.
He was a middle-aged man in a plaid shirt, with thinning hair and glasses.
It wasn’t like in novels where you get a still-charming, beautiful female advisor, or a campus belle who stayed on after graduation to become a mentor.
Even at a university, beautiful women were a rarity.
Someone like Su Ruoxi, whose Appearance score was above a nine, was as rare as a phoenix feather.
Across all of Yang City University, there were probably only a dozen or so of them.
Most of the rest hovered around the seven or eight range. It’s not like you’d have beauties flocking around you every day.
After the class advisor came in,
a few young men and women carrying stacks of books followed behind him.
After placing the books on the lectern, they greeted the class advisor and took seats in the front row.
’Those students are probably hoping to compete for class officer positions,’ Lin Feng guessed.
’That’s why they’re working so hard.’
Being a class officer in university wasn’t like in high school.
Class officers ended up handling many tasks on behalf of the class advisor.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call them deputy class advisors.
Later on, there would be elections for the student council and various clubs as well.
That’s why people say online
that a university is really a microcosm of society.
However...
None of this had anything to do with Lin Feng.
With his system, a fundamental gap had already formed between him and these people.
’If they don’t bother me, I won’t bother them.’ Since Lin Feng wasn’t competing for a class officer position, he wouldn’t have any conflict of interest with them.
"Ahem..."
The class advisor stood at the lectern and coughed twice. The entire classroom fell silent instantly.
He scanned the classroom, then began to speak.
"Hello, everyone."
"I am your class advisor, Teacher Luo."
"I hope we can all get along and grow together over the next four years of university!"
"I’ve already met most of you during military training, so I won’t give a lengthy self-introduction."
The class advisor, Old Luo, stood at the lectern, droning on and on.
The students below listened with great interest.
Having just started university, everyone was naturally curious about the unknown.
"Next, I’d like to ask a few students to come up and help me hand out the textbooks."
Old Luo looked toward the students in the front row.
The same ones who had just helped him carry the textbooks over.
Hearing Old Luo’s words, they immediately stood up and eagerly volunteered, "Teacher Luo, we’ll do it!"
Old Luo didn’t refuse, just gave a silent nod.
"Alright, come on up."
As soon as he finished speaking, those students walked up to the lectern.
They picked up the textbooks and began distributing them one by one.
"Hi, classmate. My name is Song Yaqi. I look forward to getting to know you!"
"Hi, classmate. I’m Song Yaqi. I look forward to..."
Just as Lin Feng was playing on his phone, waiting for the students to bring him his textbooks,
a tall, pretty girl
suddenly walked up and greeted him.
Lin Feng looked up to see a fair face with a sweet smile.
Though her looks were average, she had a great figure.
She was wearing a white blouse tucked into denim shorts, revealing a pair of fair, long, and well-toned legs.
In this class, she would be considered upper-middle tier.
’Overall, probably a 7.’
Lin Feng gave a slight nod and took the textbooks, not engaging in further conversation.
Next to Lin Feng, however, upon hearing Song Yaqi’s voice,
Jiang Chao looked up shyly, greeted her, and then quickly lowered his head again.
Seeing this,
Song Yaqi gave a suggestive smile, then turned and left to continue handing out textbooks to the next student.
"Old Jiang, you’re smitten, aren’t you?"
Yang Qiniang, who was sitting next to Jiang Chao, had naturally noticed his strange behavior.
He nudged him with his elbow and said teasingly.
"N-No, I’m not."
Although Jiang Chao was reserved, unlike his three shameless roommates,
he was still generally cheerful.
He wouldn’t normally stutter like this.
The way he was acting now made it obvious something was up!
"If you’re into her,"
"just say the word, and we brothers will be your wingmen."
Yang Qiniang chuckled. "If you ask me, that Song Yaqi is pretty cute and definitely one of the top girls in our class. You can’t just hesitate, or someone else will snatch her up first."
Yang Qiniang’s words were crude, but his logic wasn’t wrong.
After three years of suppressed hormones in high school,
it was time to let loose in university.
Many of the good-looking girls were often snatched up not long after the semester started.
Those who waited and watched could only kick themselves later.
However, upon hearing Yang Qiniang’s words, Jiang Chao’s expression suddenly turned cold.
He said, agitated, "Song Yaqi isn’t that kind of person!"
"We went to the same high school, and from what I remember, she’s a very ambitious girl!"
Jiang Chao’s comment left Lin Feng and the others speechless.
Yang Qiniang opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but no words came out.
"When other guys compliment a girl, they say she’s beautiful or has a great body."
"But you, Old Jiang, you praise her for being ambitious."
Lin Feng, sitting on Jiang Chao’s other side, said the words Yang Qiniang was holding back.
Hearing this, Jiang Chao’s face instantly turned red.
"Actually, I wouldn’t really call it a crush."
"We weren’t in the same class. She doesn’t even know who I am."
"I only ever got to see her by chance when I went to the bathroom after class."
"So..."
Jiang Chao sighed as he spoke.
Lin Feng and the other two exchanged a look; they all knew what the others were thinking.
Jiang Chao’s situation was a classic case of all desire and no nerve.
He was stuck with a one-sided, silent crush!
’As the saying goes, a simp will simp his way to getting nothing. Old Jiang’s current state is dangerous!’
As his roommate, Lin Feng felt it was necessary to give him a hand.
Just then, the textbook distribution finished, and the class advisor Old Luo’s voice rang out once more.
"Class, you all have your textbooks now."
"Please check them. There should be twelve books in total. See if any are missing."
"University isn’t like high school. There are many things you’ll need to do on your own initiative. Therefore, I need to select a few class officers to help me manage the class. Any announcements I have will be passed on through them."
Old Luo paused after speaking.
Then he picked up a piece of chalk and wrote several positions on the blackboard: Class President, Vice President, Academic Committee Member, Athletics and Recreation Committee Member, Youth League Secretary, and so on.
He then turned to the students and continued.
"So..."
"Does anyone want to be a class officer?"
"But let me be blunt: being a class officer is about serving the class, not enjoying special privileges."
"Any student who thinks they can get elected and then do nothing shouldn’t bother coming up here."
