Sitting in the back seat of Lin Feng’s car.
Lin Xiaoman was incredibly excited.
She immediately opened her laptop to check the backend data for her stream.
This was a perk for new streamers.
She didn’t know what to expect, but what she saw gave her a huge shock.
Lin Xiaoman had always thought the yachts Lin Feng had gifted were only worth a few dozen or, at most, a few hundred bucks.
So even when she saw Lin Feng gift over a hundred yachts, she didn’t think it was too extravagant.
But when she saw the data in the streaming platform’s backend, Lin Xiaoman was completely dumbfounded.
"Bro, bro, bro!"
Lin Xiaoman cried out, too frantic to even close her laptop.
Lin Feng glanced in the rearview mirror as he drove. "What’s wrong? Why are you so flustered?"
Lin Xiaoman swallowed hard, looking at Lin Feng in utter shock. "Bro, have you checked your account?"
"Your bank account!"
"The one linked to the streaming platform!"
Lin Feng gave his nervous sister a small smile. "Of course I have. I get a notification for every transaction."
’What he didn’t say was that from gifting over a million, he had actually made a profit of over six hundred thousand.’
’All in all, Lin Feng was very satisfied with the deal.’
’Not only was it a sure thing, but the profit was substantial and came quickly.’
Lin Xiaoman’s eyes grew even wider. "Bro, do you have any idea that you gifted me over a million’s worth of yachts in one day!"
"Are you crazy?"
"Or did you make a mistake?"
"No, no, I’m contacting the platform right now to get them to refund you!"
"That’s over a million!"
As she spoke, Lin Xiaoman frantically pulled out her phone and started searching for the number that had called her earlier, intending to call it back.
Lin Feng let out a resigned laugh and pulled the car over.
He led Lin Xiaoman out of the car, and they sat down by the side of the road.
’Today, I have to make this girl understand that she doesn’t need to be so shocked over a mere million or so.’
"Alright, alright. You don’t need to be so worked up."
"Of course I knew the price before I spent the money!"
"It’s just a million or so. I was just trying to boost your popularity since it was your first stream, right?"
Hearing Lin Feng’s casual explanation, Lin Xiaoman became exasperated.
In truth, Lin Xiaoman’s understanding of her brother’s finances was still stuck in the time before he went to college.
She figured that, at most, he had taken his saved-up allowance and made a few small investments.
And that he’d probably had some success with them.
But a million was no small sum.
And yet, Lin Feng had, without batting an eye, thrown over a million into a streaming platform.
According to the streaming platform’s revenue split, of the million-plus that Lin Feng had poured in, Lin Xiaoman would only receive forty percent.
In other words, Lin Xiaoman would only get four hundred thousand.
The remaining six hundred thousand was essentially a gift to the streaming platform.
At that moment, Lin Xiaoman finally understood why the customer service representative on the phone had sounded so sweet.
With a whale of a brother like hers throwing money around like crazy, of course the platform would treat Lin Xiaoman with extra courtesy.
"Bro, do you still have money for school?"
After a long, conflicted moment, Lin Xiaoman finally asked cautiously.
Lin Feng was both amused and exasperated. He ruffled Lin Xiaoman’s hair. "I already told you, your big brother is a great investor. I’m not short on cash!"
"It’s pocket change!"
As Lin Xiaoman looked at Lin Feng now, she felt like her brother was radiating a brilliant golden light from head to toe.
’That’s the power of money!’
"Bro, exactly how much money have you made from your investments?"
Lin Xiaoman got back in the car and watched Lin Feng from the back seat.
Lin Feng started the car. "You know how it is—money makes money. As my capital base grows,"
"the returns on my investments grow with it. Let me put it this way..."
"Even if I were to gift you a million in stream gifts every single month, it wouldn’t be a problem!"
Even as he said this, Lin Feng was deliberately holding back.
’With his current daily income, he was literally making money every second.’
’Gifting a million was nothing. He could do it once a week if he really wanted to.’
Lin Feng was more than happy to give Lin Xiaoman gifts.
’After all, according to the system’s current rules, he’d get a rebate for the full amount, plus an extra fifty percent.’
’Too bad that opportunity was only available three times a month.’
Lin Feng sighed internally.
Meanwhile, Lin Xiaoman’s eyes widened. "Bro, if you told me you were this rich sooner, what was the point of me being all depressed before? Why not just be a rich girl?"
Seeing his sister practically bouncing in the back seat, Lin Feng threw cold water on her excitement. "That’s money *I* earned from *my* own investments!"
"If you want to be a rich girl, you have to rely on your own two hands and work hard to build your own fortune!"
"Aww... Bro, you’re so cruel! Turn around and look at your poor sister!"
Lin Xiaoman covered her face in the back seat, pretending to cry.
After all these years with Lin Xiaoman, how could Lin Feng not see through his sister’s little act?
The car stopped downstairs. Lin Feng tossed a lollipop into Lin Xiaoman’s lap.
"Alright, cut the act. We’re home."
Seeing she couldn’t keep up the act, Lin Xiaoman picked up the lollipop and followed Lin Feng back into the house.
Since Lin Feng was flying back to Yang City the next day, He Yue and Lin Jiandong had prepared a huge feast.
They just hoped to have a good get-together before their son left.
Watching her handsome and talented son playfully bickering with her clever and quirky daughter, a faint, happy smile graced He Yue’s face.
"Mom, I’ve decided!"
"From now on, I’m going to be a streamer!"
Halfway through dinner, Lin Xiaoman raised her glass and announced loudly to the table.
Lin Xiaoman had expected her parents to object and had even prepared a whole speech to defend her choice. To her surprise, however, neither He Yue nor Lin Jiandong looked particularly shocked.
"Dad, Mom, aren’t you guys surprised by this career choice?"
Her eyes were wide with confusion.
He Yue and Lin Jiandong glanced at each other, put down their chopsticks, shook their heads, and sighed.
"You silly girl, you’ve been running around the house for the past two days like you’re possessed, mumbling on and on about streaming."
"Your father and I aren’t fools. How could we not have noticed?"
He Yue smiled and tapped Lin Xiaoman on the forehead.
"I already discussed this with your mom," Lin Jiandong said.
"You young people have your own ideas and ideals. We’re old and sometimes we can’t keep up."
"Besides, it’s not like our family needs the money you’d be making."
"Your mother and I can still work for a few more years."
Lin Jiandong and He Yue exchanged a smile, and he continued, "So go ahead and realize your dream. As your parents, this is the best support we can give you!"
