"Strange crystal creation... Veronia hasn’t admitted any connection with it. Could it really be Alorick? No, that’s unlikely. If it were Alorick, it should have appeared when the Crystal Domain emerged."
Closing the file, Feng Yuan glanced at Agunas. He certainly knew Alorick, and understood its authority, which is precisely why he didn’t believe it was Alorick. The Divine Beasts that remain often have missions and necessities.
Based on Alorick’s authority, it should have appeared during the Crystal Domain period, as that fell right under its jurisdiction. Given that Alorick hadn’t shown up, one could only conclude that this matter was largely unrelated to Alorick.
Then, what about Veronia? Its emergence was primarily due to human activities, and can’t be considered a formal appearance, much like Agunas, which just suddenly manifested an egg because at that time the Time River needed Agunas’ power.
Feng Yuan did not think there was any necessity for Alorick to appear now unless there emerged a Crystal Stone System more complex and powerful than the Crystal Domain. But how is that possible? The Crystal Domain and Qi Realm Stance alone are keeping humans busy enough already, adding another facet is simply unmanageable.
Alorick did not appear when it was most needed, probably indicating it truly had vanished. Yet, Feng Yuan was confused about the true nature of the strange crystal creation deep within the Molan Giant Pit.
"In that case, let’s go there and investigate thoroughly. Let’s go."
Returning the file, Feng Yuan paid no attention to the staff covering their ears. Those who work here must have high confidentiality clearance, and anyway, what Agunas mentioned might not have been that confidential; it just wasn’t in Xiqing City.
Since it wasn’t Xiqing City’s own research, Feng Yuan suspected that the studies hadn’t even been communicated to Xiqing City, naturally meaning no copy of the file existed here.
Watching Feng Yuan’s group leave, the curious staff couldn’t help but whisper and speculate about Feng Yuan’s identity. After all, such a young Beastmaster with access to confidential materials isn’t commonly seen.
As for the Molan Giant Pit? The locals know of it well, and there’s not much to see. It’s not restricted and anyone can easily enter and exit. They’ve been there, but only to take photos at the top of the pit.
It’s not that they can’t descend into the pit, just that it’s difficult. Despite the lack of turbulent airflows, they lack Flying Spirit Beasts.
Riding Flying Spirit Beasts, particularly those fit for riding, aren’t exactly rare, but they’re not affordable for those who aren’t official Beastmasters.
The staff in the archives aren’t official Beastmasters, at least by the formal definition.
So they can just venture to the relatively safe outskirts of the city, while places like the interior of the Molan Giant Pit are too risky. Despite the documents lacking evidence of wild Spirit Beast activity there, who knows the actual situation?
That place exudes a hint of danger, leaving uncertainty about whether an ancient ruin is hidden below. However, ancient ruins are both synonymous with wealth and peril, and even those strong Beastmasters who enter them do so gingerly, fearing they might not emerge unscathed.
Feng Yuan wasn’t aware of their comments post-departure. Based on the records, the oddities of the entire Molan Giant Pit concentrate near the pit bottom, making descent imperative for investigation.
The several hundred meters of height isn’t an issue, just that movement up and down is inconvenient. Considering he packed camping gear, Feng Yuan decided to set up camp directly at the pit bottom.
After all, this venture lacks a specific objective, but the suspected Mythological Era creations at the pit bottom intrigue Feng Yuan, so he’s not averse to camping there rather than making arduous trips back and forth.
Xiqing City lacks public transport to the Molan Giant Pit. That area has no ore veins or significant resources, thus no need to establish transport infrastructure.
Seeing Feng Yuan choose to ride the Flame Chasing Furry Dog rather than go on foot, Xiao Ji seemed displeased, though Agunas knew why Feng Yuan made this choice.
This place isn’t Eternal Frozen Soil. Previously, when Feng Yuan rode Xiao Ji to Eternal Frozen Soil, he had applied for a flying permit. Even though the distance now isn’t far, flying still requires clearance, which is cumbersome.
Shortly after, the group arrived at the Molan Giant Pit. The enormous pit before them was imposing; even Xiao Ji instinctively stayed away from the cliff’s edge, despite being able to fly and not fearing accidental falls.
The Flame Chasing Furry Dog shrank away, despite the place looking mere like a large pit from photos, it hadn’t anticipated the close-up view to be so intimidating.
"What’s with this strange airflow? Though not strong, it’s indeed peculiar. Even if this place could be called a basin, it shouldn’t have such updrafts, right?"
Feng Yuan noticed oddities within the Molan Giant Pit. While turbulent airflows were absent, the constant updraft was undeniably odd.
"Special structures exist in the mine passages here that accelerate airflow. The exits of these passages aren’t the typical straightforward kind; rather, they are angled upward, causing these updrafts from airflow accelerated by the passages."
"But why is this happening? Humans haven’t deduced a conclusion."
Agunas remarked, although at a glance there’s no issue with the Molan Giant Pit, thorough inquiry reveals a heap of problems.
"Accelerated airflow? Tsk, it’s deliberate, right? The mine passages are feats of the crystal creations, I suppose?"
Rubbing his chin, Feng Yuan looked towards Agunas, who wagged its tail and replied,
"I’m not sure. It’s speculated to be related to crystal creations, but humans have yet to witness creations that forge wind passages."
"Hmm, regardless, the questionable bits lie at the bottom. Flame Chasing Furry Dog, are you descending on your own or?"
Feng Yuan asked, glancing at the big cats. Unlike the previous swift flying journey, descending the Molan Giant Pit was manageable for them, not needing Tamur’s help.
Nodding, the Flame Chasing Furry Dog indicated its capability to handle the task. Despite the pit’s considerable depth, its edges were not extraordinarily steep, barely reaching a right angle, meaning it could still use its momentum to run.
The big cats all affirmed their capacity as well. Feng Yuan mounted Xiao Ji’s back. While dashing downhill with the Flame Chasing Furry Dog could be an experience, Feng Yuan didn’t wish to impede its movement.
Unlike Xiao Ji and the big cats flying down, the Flame Chasing Furry Dog had to rely on its speed to prevent tumbling all the way to the pit bottom.
Before reaching the bottom, there was no chance for the Flame Chasing Furry Dog to pause for a breather; it had to maintain speed to ensure balance.
"Ready? Let’s go."
With a gentle tap on Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan gazed in Molan Giant Pit’s direction, as Agunas wagged its tail following the swift Flame Chasing Furry Dog.
Xiao Ji ignored the sporadically encountered updrafts, rushing straight to the bottom of the Molan Giant Pit. But Feng Yuan noted this approach necessitated using wind attribute power at the end to avoid crashing into the ground.
With another tap, Feng Yuan directed Xiao Ji to adjust course, spiraling around the pit edge to glide down.
The Flame Chasing Furry Dog accelerated downward, several times nearly losing balance. Utilizing the forward thrust from its Flame Charge, it managed to regain semblance of balance.
Meanwhile, this approach increased the Flame Chasing Furry Dog’s speed, such that before Xiao Ji, still spiraling mid-air, the Flame Chasing Furry Dog already blazed a red trail to the pit bottom, leaving a long burn mark.
Large rocks towered at the bottom, forcing the Flame Chasing Furry Dog to steer sharply to avoid crashing into fast-approaching boulders.
It succeeded in halting at the very center of the Molan Giant Pit.
Shaking its ears, the Flame Chasing Furry Dog glanced perplexedly at Agunas beside it, suspecting that despite its focus on maneuvering past obstacles, Agunas seemed to follow closely.
Taking out a book, Agunas flipped through it while saying,
"Don’t overthink. Your maneuvering was most perilous."
