Long time no see~
Feng Yuan whispered as he walked up and rubbed Big Cat’s head. Big Cat hugged Feng Yuan and mewed softly, seemingly very happy. Looking at Big Cat, Feng Yuan said, puzzled,
Why didn’t you call for me when you came back?
Feng Yuan could tell that Big Cat had been standing there for quite a while and hadn’t just appeared. Glancing at the wall clock, Feng Yuan petted Big Cat’s head and said,
Never mind, it’s so late, let’s just go to sleep.
But...
Looking at the small blanket on the bed, Feng Yuan felt a bit of a headache. Even for his current self, that blanket would be too small—not to mention for Big Cat and the others. After thinking for a moment, Feng Yuan’s eyes brightened as he said,
I’ve got it!
What are you up to now...
Qi Chen, exasperated, tugged at the drowsy Feng Yuan’s tail. He yawned, and Feng Yuan glanced at Qi Chen and asked,
What’s wrong?
Why can’t you just sleep properly...
Looking at the black-and-white puppy squeezed in with Big Cat and the others, Qi Chen didn’t know what else to say. As for how he recognized him? Just by looking at Xiao Ji, who was snuggled up tightly against the little dog, Qi Chen could tell that Feng Yuan had changed his appearance again.
Jumping off the sofa bed, Little Husky transformed back into Feng Yuan’s original form under Qi Chen’s watchful gaze. Seeing Feng Yuan back to normal, Qi Chen said, surprised and delighted,
Have you finally recovered?
Yeah, I recovered late at night.
Then why...
Casting a glance at the small blanket on the sofa bed, Qi Chen easily guessed why Feng Yuan had transformed into a puppy. Glaring at Feng Yuan, Qi Chen said somewhat irritably,
I told you to make yourself at home.
Scratching his head, Feng Yuan chuckled and didn’t explain. After taking a good look at him, Qi Chen let out a sigh of relief and said,
You don’t have any lingering effects, do you?
None.
Seeing Feng Yuan’s smug look, Qi Chen also felt relieved. Agunas floated over, glanced at Feng Yuan, and said,
Don’t mess around like that next time; we’re still in this world.
Pfft! It doesn’t really affect me anyway.
Ghost house Foreyn’s mansion grand opening, absolutely terrifying?
The secrets of Meow Meow Paradise, an exclusive reveal?
The owner of Miracle Flower Field disappears again?
What’s with all these messy headlines.
Feng Yuan said, looking at the web page with a speechless expression, then turned to Qi Chen and asked,
What on earth did you want me to see?
This, are you interested?
This?
After looking at the headline Qi Chen was pointing to, Feng Yuan hadn’t said anything when Xiao Ji glared angrily at Qi Chen as if considering him an enemy. Feng Yuan held Xiao Ji’s head, smiled, and said,
Is this for Xiao Shuang? Isn’t it a bit early?
It’s good to look ahead, and it will also help her to learn about different spirit beasts. Besides, they are having promotions now.
Qi Chen said calmly, recalling the days when he first got Ah Mu. Since he was very unfamiliar with the information about juvenile spirit beasts, he was always in a flurry. If it hadn’t been for Feng Yuan, who was dealing with Xiao Ji’s egg and giving guidance on the side, he probably would have made a bunch of mistakes, like other people.
That’s fine, but have you asked Xiao Shuang?
Feng Yuan looked at Qi Chen with some confusion. He couldn’t believe that Qi Chen would make decisions on behalf of Qi Xiaoshuang without authorization. Nodding, Qi Chen said,
This was actually Xiaoshuang’s idea. She mentioned that it might go more smoothly with your involvement.
Go more smoothly?
Feng Yuan looked at the subtitle with a speechless expression. It read: Free Experience Day at the Spirit Beast Breeding House welcomes all children who have not yet obtained a Spirit Beast to learn how to take care of young Spirit Beasts.
I have the feeling that she wants to cause trouble.
Try to restrain yourself...
Qi Chen looked at Feng Yuan speechlessly. He understood why Feng Yuan would have such doubts. Not to mention anything else, just the final Q&A session—putting Feng Yuan in there would probably make them question their existence. To Qi Chen, Feng Yuan’s knowledge of Spirit Beasts was comparable to that of expert scholars, especially those little tricks...
If Feng Yuan went all out, it would probably turn from them asking questions to Feng Yuan asking questions instead.
But answering all the questions correctly would qualify one for the unofficial Breeder status at the Breeding House? Xiaoshuang doesn’t actually want that, does she?
The Breeding House belonged to an official institution of the Alliance, and Feng Yuan didn’t suspect any conspiracy. The primary purpose of those Breeding Houses was to assist Beastmasters and Beastmasters who really couldn’t take care of young Spirit Beasts. After all, some people were truly...
While it hadn’t happened at Feng Yuan’s school, he heard that there were quite a few clumsy students among their peers who had never managed to take care of their first Beast Tamed well. And since their Beasts were of Native Level, issues would have arisen if they hadn’t sought help from a Breeding House.
Even with the robust constitution of Spirit Beasts, young Spirit Beasts are relatively fragile. If you’re not careful with their dietary needs, chaos can easily ensue, especially for those of Native Level. Although they won’t fail to evolve, there will inevitably be potential loss.
Of course, in reality, the difficulty isn’t that high. Just following the book and preparing food accordingly is almost enough, and only those who are truly inept seek help from the Breeding Houses.
Although assisting with the upbringing of young Spirit Beasts was one of the main duties of a Breeding House, because such cases were not very common, Breeding Houses actually focused more on developing their own Spirit Beasts to assist the local departments.
Qi Chen nodded and said,
I also feel that it might not be too bad for Xiaoshuang. Although her knowledge might not be up to standard yet, but...
It’s supposed to be an assistant role, however...
Could it be that they are planning to take on apprentices?
What?
Qi Chen looked at Feng Yuan with some confusion. After thinking for a while, he operated the computer to search for news, and then Feng Yuan said,
Is one of those Spirit Beast Breeding Masters planning to take on apprentices? And it must be within Great Xia...
Master Feng?
Qi Chen exclaimed, then nodded as Feng Yuan continued,
This event is happening throughout the territories of Great Xia, but not in other countries.
No matter how you look at it, Great Xia wouldn’t hold such a strange event for no reason, and it doesn’t make sense for the Alliance to assist in this. But, if it’s a demand from a Spirit Beast Breeding Master, it might be different.
Speaking of this, Feng Yuan remembered Guo Huai, who was currently moving towards becoming a Pharmacist. But it was possible that he held some interest in becoming a Spirit Beast Breeding Master.
So... should we tell Xiaoshuang not to go?
Glancing at Qi Chen, Feng Yuan said with a slightly amused tone,
That’s not necessary. If Xiaoshuang wants to go, she should. It’s not a big issue, after all, considering it’s a nationwide selection from major cities, and the experience opportunity is rare, right?
Although Spirit Beast Breeders can interact with many Spirit Beasts, in reality, for most people, Spirit Beast Breeders are not that relevant. Unless one is pursuing ultimate power, one’s own cultivation is usually sufficient. Spirit Beast Breeders are more for maximizing the potential of Spirit Beasts.
However, thinking of this, Feng Yuan glanced at Xiao Ji. The little guy was brimming with potential, but the conversion of potential into strength was rather slow. But after some thought, Feng Yuan decided against it. He really didn’t want Xiao Ji to experience that kind of life that was all about training or heading to training.
Noticing Feng Yuan’s gaze, Xiao Ji looked back at him with confusion. Qi Chen nodded and said,
That’s right, it could be a good opportunity for Xiaoshuang to interact with more Spirit Beasts, so when the time comes to choose her first partner, she wouldn’t be as lost.
As he spoke, Qi Chen laughed.
He recalled how he couldn’t decide which Spirit Beast to take as his first partner and ended up using the most common method among Beast Tamers—he chose a Spirit Beast Egg by serendipity. But after spending time together, Qi Chen didn’t regret his initial choice.
The Way of Serendipity isn’t bad, is it?
Feng Yuan smiled and said. While the Spirit Beasts chosen this way might not be the best, the strange thing was that the bond was often the strongest with these randomly selected Spirit Beasts compared to those who had decided early on what kind of Spirit Beast they wanted.
Special rules, huh...
Feng Yuan smiled, unfazed by the thought. After all, for him, whatever kind of Beast Tamed he ended up with was irrelevant—either way, it was he who would be entering the fray, right?
