“Have you had lunch yet?”
Walking ahead, Feng Yuan turned to ask Qi Chen, who glanced at Ah Mu in his backpack and said
“I have, but Ah Mu hasn’t.”
“Eh?
Is the Spirit Beast Food gone?”
“Um...”
Seeing Feng Yuan stop in his tracks and start rummaging through his backpack, Qi Chen seemed to understand what Feng Yuan intended to do.
Just as he was about to step forward and stop him, he hesitated for a moment as he looked at the wilted Ah Mu inside the backpack.
He stood there, watching Feng Yuan’s actions, and when Feng Yuan handed over some Spirit Beast Food from the backpack, Qi Chen took it and gave it to Ah Mu, saying softly to Feng Yuan,
“Thank you...”
Feng Yuan shouldered his backpack, turned his back on Qi Chen and walked ahead.
As he went, he raised his left hand and waved it.
Seeing Ah Mu in the backpack eating the food, Qi Chen stood up and caught up with the advancing Feng Yuan.
“I wonder how the others are doing...”
“Gina...”
“Sorry, there isn’t enough food.
You’ll just have to bear with it...”
“Gina~”
Looking at Yang Hongzhi’s apologetic eyes, Najia shook its head.
Yang Hongzhi, holding Najia and Xiao Hei, sat in a place far from the crowd, watching coldly as people hassled the guards over food.
Najia looked disdainfully at several people pestering a young guard.
Seeing the guard’s troubled face, Najia placed its hands on its chest in a prayer gesture.
As Najia seemed about to go over after finishing its prayer, Yang Hongzhi quickly stretched out his hand to stop it and said,
“Don’t bother with them, just a bunch of idiots.”
“Gina?!”
“If that guard had ignored those people like I did from the start, he wouldn’t be in this trouble now.”
“Gina...”
Seeing Najia appear somewhat unsettled, Yang Hongzhi reached out and stroked its head.
He looked at the people some distance away who occasionally stole glances here only to hastily look away.
After a while, hearing the argument getting louder and more fierce, Yang Hongzhi scoffed, stood up, and, with some impatience, walked over and shouted,
“Have you had enough of arguing!
Do you still want to leave or not!”
“What the hell are you saying!
We’re not leaving!
We won’t leave until we get enough food!”
“What, you want to start a fight?”
Yang Hongzhi sneered and stroked Xiao Hei’s head.
Xiao Hei bared its teeth and snarled at the people, startling them.
After a moment, one of them said with a trembling voice,
“What are you trying to do!
Let me tell you, this is none of your business!”
“Fine, it’s none of my business.
I’m leaving.”
Yang Hongzhi sneered, hugging the upset Najia in his arms.
He turned and called to Xiao Hei to follow, preparing to leave.
Seeing Yang Hongzhi turn to go, some of the crowd reached out trying to stop him, but shrank back in the face of glares from the few troublemakers.
Yang Hongzhi walked a few steps, then turned to the guard and said,
“By the way, if you keep hanging around with these people, you’re likely to be dragged down or even killed because of them.”
“What nonsense are you talking about!”
“Heh, don’t act like a victim.
Don’t tell me you don’t have your own Beast Tamers?
It seemed like you were taking us for granted when we voluntarily took on those monsters out of goodwill.”
“What’s wrong with the strong shouldering more burdens!
We have Beast Tamers, but how can our combat power compare to yours!”
Yang Hongzhi shook his head, no longer paying attention to those people.
Najia sat in Yang Hongzhi’s arms, looking sad, making a praying gesture, as if praying for something.
Seeing Najia like this, Yang Hongzhi sighed and said softly,
“If Feng Yuan were here, that would be good.
Seeing you like this makes me feel terrible too...”
“Gina...”
Najia sadly stretched out her small hand and gently patted Yang Hongzhi, who sighed and said,
“You really are like that guy...
always foolishly worrying about others...
”
“Gina...”
“Hey...
cheer up a bit, at least that guy is happy all the time.
You should be the same.
Najia looked up at Yang Hongzhi with a puzzled expression.
Yang Hongzhi sighed as if he didn’t want to remember something and shook his head,
“Let’s go, let’s see if we can run into Feng Yuan and the others today.”
“Awoo~”
“Why are they all fakes!”
Seeing the White Wolf kill another fake with a single swipe, turning it into dissipating black air, Xiao Shuang ranted in frustration.
The White Wolf looked back at Xiao Shuang and ran forward again.
After a while, the White Wolf slowly stopped and lay down.
Xiao Shuang, somewhat puzzled, took out her phone to check the time and said,
“It’s not time to eat yet, what’s wrong?”
“Awoo!”
The White Wolf turned its head and signaled Xiao Shuang to get down quickly with an urgent look.
Xiao Shuang, confused, slid off the White Wolf and saw that after she landed on the ground and stood up, dusting off her clothes, the White Wolf stood and howled lowly towards the front.
Xiao Shuang looked ahead curiously to see what appeared to be a huge plaza.
The White Wolf cautiously walked into the empty plaza and brushed Xiao Shuang with its tail, showing a hint of impatience with her trailing closely behind.
“Hey!
What are you doing?”
“Alright, alright, I’ll stay back, okay?”
“Awoo~wooo~”
Seeing Xiao Shuang retreat to the edge of the plaza, the White Wolf howled and lunged forward with a powerful leap.
Its claws fiercely ripped through the air, causing space to twist and reveal a huge Metallic Statue that had been hidden.
Xiao Shuang retreated a few steps in surprise covering her mouth and hid behind a pillar.
The White Wolf exhaled a cold breath towards the Metallic Statue, and in an instant, the giant humanoid figure was covered with frost.
Apparently angered by the White Wolf, the statue’s emerald gemstone eyes emitted a faint glow.
“Awooo~~~”
The White Wolf howled, and Rune Stones of various sizes rose around it, forming a transparent Barrier.
Rune Stones of different sizes also rose around Xiao Shuang.
Seeing the Barrier formed by the stones, Xiao Shuang felt an inexplicable sense of security.
The White Wolf charged forward and viciously clawed towards the Metallic Statue.
There was a sound of metal scraping, and the White Wolf’s sharp claws were blocked by a giant Scepter wielded by the Metallic Statue.
After repelling the White Wolf with the Scepter, the statue pointed at the White Wolf, and suddenly numerous Metallic Statues, smaller than the large one, materialized in the air around them, wielding various weapons to attack the White Wolf.
“Awoo!!!”
The White Wolf roared and stamped its paw, and the ground surged, raising countless sharp stone pillars that sent the statues flying into the air.
Xiao Shuang noticed that the statues were merely knocked into the air without any damage.
Just as she was about to shout a warning, the White Wolf picked up on this and raised its head to breathe out a burst of intense flames at the statues.
“Awoo!!!”
Finding that the flames were ineffective, the White Wolf jumped into the air and furiously clawed at one of the statues.
The statues took advantage of the White Wolf closing in and viciously swung their weapons at it.
Although the White Wolf managed to shatter a statue, its Barrier was broken by the statues’ blows, and it lost many of its pure white hairs as it was hit.
“Try using the ultimate move!”
Seeing the falling white hairs, Xiao Shuang couldn’t help but shout out loud.
The White Wolf landed and sprinted forward a short distance to gain some space from the statues.
Closing its mouth tightly, it seemed to be charging up for something.
As the statues landed, swinging their weapons towards the White Wolf, just as they were about to reach it, the White Wolf opened its mouth and a jet of white flames sprayed out, shattering the statues that were hit by the white flames, which soon were covered with numerous cracks and rapidly broke apart.
“Good~”
Seeing the White Wolf successfully wipe out a swath of statues, Xiao Shuang couldn’t help but shout in triumph, but her shout immediately drew the attention of the Metallic Statue.
Seeing the Metallic Statue turn to face her, Xiao Shuang covered her mouth and hid behind the pillar like an ostrich.
With a wave of its Scepter, a statue wielding a metallic long sword, similar in size to the Metallic Statue, appeared out of nowhere and viciously swung at Xiao Shuang.
The first strike chopped off the top of the pillar where Xiao Shuang was hiding.
Seeing the stone statue brandishing the long sword coming at her again, Xiao Shuang let out a cry of despair,
“Aah!!!”
“Awoo!!!”
