"Damn it! What did that bastard do this time!"
Noticing a terrifying deathly pressure suddenly appearing, Captain Yang, who was searching for a passage in the cave, couldn’t help but curse under his breath. Bai Mao, somewhat vigilant, brandished his long knife, and a golden Barrier enveloped Captain Yang and his Spirit Beasts.
"What happened?"
Feeling the arrival of the deadly pressure, Yang Hongzhi could only guess whether Feng Yuan had used some strange ultimate technique again. Najia, who had been sitting quietly on Yang Hongzhi’s shoulder, became somewhat nervous and jumped down, singing loudly and dancing a strange dance, as a Barrier wrapped in a Rune Circle enveloped Yang Hongzhi and his Spirit Beasts.
"Agunas, that’s enough."
Seeing the space around them beginning to distort, Feng Yuan had no choice but to speak up. Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, an excited Agunas calmed down and, with an apologetic look at Feng Yuan, swept her small hand over the dark Ancient Book again. The spatial distortion immediately stopped, but the terrifying pressure did not disappear.
In the sky, seeing the Barrier enveloping Luo’an City becoming very unstable, while a terrifying deathly pressure spread outwards from underneath Luo’an City, Yimu Qingling hurriedly launched an attack on the Barrier. Before long, the trembling Barrier shattered, and Yimu Qingling, without being able to look carefully, flew toward the center of the pressure.
"Who exactly are you!"
The Black Mist figure spoke in a low voice as he looked at Agunas. The people he had brought were crushed by the pressure, each cowering and trembling on the ground. Watching the Black Mist figure, Feng Yuan said calmly,
"Agunas, what do you think we should do with him?"
Because of the slight loss of control just now, Agunas shook her head embarrassingly. Feng Yuan thought for a moment, then looked at the Black Mist figure and said,
"I think handing you over to Captain Yang and the others for handling is a nice choice~"
"Heh, let’s see if you have the ability to do so!"
The Black Mist figure said, waving his hand, and countless pitch-black viscous creatures crawled out from the Sea of Suffering. Feng Yuan narrowed his eyes and said,
"You can summon the creatures from the Sea of Suffering?"
"Not just that~"
"Agunas, Domain of Death!"
Seeing the turbulent Sea of Suffering, Feng Yuan quickly shouted. Xiao Ji took flight toward the Sea of Suffering, spewing black flames. As soon as the flames touched the Sea of Suffering, they quickly expanded. Seeing the Sea of Suffering gradually shrink within the flames, Estir’s eyes showed surprise, while the Black Mist figure said in a low voice,
"Is it really you..."
"But that’s not bad... At least it’s somewhat pleasing to the eye..."
Because Agunas had to use most of her power to activate the Domain of Death, the bone claws holding Estir in place lost their power enhancement and were easily broken free by Estir. Watching the Sea of Suffering gradually shrink, Estir’s expression was indescribable.
"You’ve worked hard~"
Seeing the Sea of Suffering had been reduced by Xiao Ji’s flames, Feng Yuan smiled and patted Xiao Ji, who had collapsed on the ground, excitedly exclaiming without realizing that Estir had somehow broken free from the bone claws. Xiao Ji, struggling to stand, fixated her gaze on Estir.
Estir stood there calmly, looking at Xiao Ji, as specks of new green starlight continually fell from his body. After a while, Estir spoke up,
"Can you let it completely eradicate the Sea of Suffering?"
After looking at the exhausted Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan shook his head and said,
"No! Didn’t you see Xiao Ji is already this tired?"
Seeing Xiao Ji struggling to stand, Feng Yuan gently patted her and said,
"Stop fooling around. Even though you’re Legendary Level strength now, you can’t handle the continued use of the Flames of Deathly Silence; after all, that’s a Divine Beast’s ultimate technique."
While Estir was somewhat conflicted, Feng Yuan spoke up,
"What exactly is going on? Why would you help him? And why would he attack this place?"
After hesitating for a moment and looking at the Sea of Suffering that was slowly recovering, Estir looked at Feng Yuan with determination and said,
"Help me deal with the Sea of Suffering."
"You go first, and the Sea of Suffering might not necessarily be resolvable."
Seeing the slowly recovering Sea of Suffering, Feng Yuan also felt troubled, glanced at the Black Mist figure standing to the side seemingly lost in thought, and after Estir pondered for a while, said,
"Do you know the origin of the Sea of Suffering?"
"It seems it was created by a group of people, rebelling against something... I just glanced at it and didn’t pay much attention at the time."
Estir sighed and glanced at the man shrouded in black mist, saying
"The Sea of Suffering was created by his father, who sacrificed all his clansmen during what you call the early period of the dynasty."
Patting the surprised Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan looked at Estir and said
"There must be a reason. No one would do such a thing without cause, right?"
"Because they lost to the army sent by the Great Li Dynasty and refused to submit to it, they resorted to the forbidden ’Sea of Death’ after deliberation."
"The Sea of Death! No wonder... It can’t even be recorded, so there’s no mention of this in the chronicles."
"Originally, the ancestors of the Yuan family discovered a mysterious droplet called the Sea of Death here and established Yuanjia Town. They never imagined that they would ultimately use the Sea of Death to bury their entire clan..."
"They swore to die rather than comply, huh..."
As if reminded of something, Feng Yuan heaved a long sigh, and Estir, curiously looking towards him, said
"You don’t think they were foolish?"
"Every person has their own convictions. Perhaps, to them, submission to the dynasty was an unacceptable matter..."
With another sigh, Estir looked at the man in the black mist, who had turned away and bowed his head, and said
"Perhaps you are right. Initially, I thought their actions were incomprehensible, but when it’s one’s own turn..."
"Do you know about the promise I made with him back then?"
"I don’t. I only know it’s related to the Sea of Suffering. After all, certain things are involved, so the records in the chronicles aren’t complete."
Feng Yuan sighed helplessly, and Estir took a few slow steps forward and said
"Back then, I made a vow to him that I would eradicate the Sea of Suffering thoroughly and rescue him."
"Rescue? After being assimilated by the Sea of Suffering, hasn’t he become one with it? How can you rescue him?"
"No! He’s special! Everyone else was assimilated by the Sea of Suffering and lost their original form, but only he! Only he remains the same as before!"
Glancing at the man in the black mist, Feng Yuan speculated
"The person you’re referring to is him, right?"
"Exactly!"
"But he looks like that, obviously no longer human."
"No! Appearances don’t matter! I know that his soul, his memories, his thoughts, are all still the original him! He hasn’t been affected by the Sea of Suffering!"
Seeing Estir becoming somewhat hysterical, Feng Yuan fell silent for a while before saying
"I don’t believe a normal person wouldn’t be affected by the Sea of Suffering, seeing as it evolved from the Sea of Death, its strength couldn’t possibly be weaker than that of the Divine Beasts."
"It must be because of this."
The man in the black mist walked over and pulled out a piece of golden shard from within his body. Seeing the shard, Feng Yuan narrowed his eyes and said in a low voice
"A shard of the pseudo World Clock!"
"You know of it? So it has this name... After I obtained it by accident, all sorts of weird thoughts and strange visions of the future kept flooding my mind. If I hadn’t become a part of the Sea of Death, I might have gone mad a long time ago."
"I don’t know whether to call you lucky or unlucky..."
"Who knows~"
The black mist man spread his hands nonchalantly, and Estir glanced at the black mist man before speaking again
"This time I don’t know why he suddenly brought people to attack this place, so I must cast a barrier to envelop the whole of Luo’an City to prevent the Elder Council of Great Xia from meddling with the affairs here. Only then will he not be harmed by them."
"It’s because I saw the future. As long as I make enough of a commotion, someone who can completely eradicate the Sea of Suffering will appear, even though that thing has never been reliable. But I think it’s worth a try."
"After all, it has been tied to this matter for far too long."
"Ah Zhi..."
