39: Chapter 39 Strange Spirit Beast_1
39 -39 Strange Spirit Beast_1
“I am a student of Maomu Academy!
What do you mean by treating me like a bad guy!”
“Eh?
You’re actually a student?
Sorry, sorry...”
“I can’t recognize what kind of Spirit Beast this is, but why does it look so pitiful?
Have you been mistreating it?”
“Who would mistreat it!
This guy refuses to eat any food, so we had to come here for information because it’s become so weak.”
Feng Yuan looked at the skinny man with surprise and asked in confusion,
“Then why are you keeping it in a cage?”
“Isn’t it because it keeps running away!
It sneaked off once, and two days later we found it again in Cha Mu Forest at Cloud Summit Mountain.
God knows how it managed to run that far from the city!”
“And then you captured it again?”
“No!
When we found it, it was even weaker than before!”
Feng Yuan, somewhat puzzled, reached out his hand.
The moment he came close to the cage, the Spirit Beast moved away from Feng Yuan, pressing itself tightly against the edge of the cage.
Feng Yuan turned to the two men in confusion and asked,
“What the hell is going on here?”
“Fuck if I know!
It’s been like this all along and it’s driving me crazy!”
“I’ve already advised you to send it to the research institute, but you didn’t agree.”
The refined-looking man closed his book, pushed up his glasses, and spoke dissatisfiedly to the skinny man, who turned his head and glanced disdainfully at the Spirit Beast shrinking in the corner,
“Research institute?
What can they figure out?
After all, it’s just a Spirit Beast; all they care about is the results, not whether the Spirit Beast lives or dies!”
Feng Yuan squatted down and gazed at the shrinking Spirit Beast in the corner.
It had the appearance of a cartoon anthropomorphic toy, with petal-shaped hair, dressed in a pure white Ritual Robe, and round, large eyes shining like stars.
It seemed incredibly weak, possibly due to not eating for a long time.
Feng Yuan sighed, stood up, and said to the two men,
“Can I have a look?”
“You?
You’re even younger than I am, what could you possibly do?”
Feng Yuan shook his head, swung his Sickle to shatter the padlock, reached in and hugged the Spirit Beast, feeling it tremble in his arms.
Before Feng Yuan could take a closer look, the skinny man snatched the Spirit Beast away from his embrace.
Seeing the man’s wary look, Feng Yuan released his grasp, and the Sickle in his hand fell and dissipated into the air.
“You!”
Seeing Feng Yuan lower his Sickle, the two men took up battle stances, ready to fight at any moment, with several Spirit Beasts appearing behind them.
A Mountain Rock Pig King stepped in front of the two men, separating them from Feng Yuan.
Just as the situation became extremely tense,
“Arrogant?”
The Dreaming Dragon Baby rubbed its eyes, looking a bit puzzled as it floated onto the head of the Mountain Rock Pig King.
The Mountain Rock Pig King looked back at it with confusion.
The refined man noticed the Dreaming Dragon Baby’s leisurely demeanor and tentatively asked,
“Who on earth are you?”
“Feng Yuan!”
Qi Chen, shouting loudly, ran over and stood next to Feng Yuan, ready to fight, and addressed Ah Mu,
“Ah Mu!
Vine Barrier!”
“Toot!”
“Seems to be a misunderstanding?”
The refined man mumbled to his companion and cautiously stepped forward, saying,
“Could you tell us who you are?
We are members of the Red Fire Team from Maomu Academy.
The person next to you...”
“He’s not under the control of the G Organization.
He’s my classmate, currently studying at Second High.”
Understanding the situation, Qi Chen instructed Ah Mu to retract the Vine Barrier and then turned to Feng Yuan with a look of resignation, saying,
“Are you messing with your Power of Spirit Beast again?
This can easily cause misunderstandings, you know.”
“Tsk!”
Feng Yuan pursed his lips in dissatisfaction but offered no retort.
Seeing Qi Chen talking to the refined man, Feng Yuan approached the skinny man and asked,
“Can I take a look?”
“You’re still a high school student, right?
What could you see?”
The man tried to soothe the small Spirit Beast and carefully handed it over to Feng Yuan.
Seeing Feng Yuan trembling continuously, he tried to persuade him a few times but to no avail.
He couldn’t discern any special injuries or condition on the Spirit Beast.
Just as the man was about to take back the Spirit Beast, Feng Yuan closed his eyes and softly chanted something.
“Requiem?”
The refined gentleman watched Feng Yuan with some surprise.
Immediately, a pale green Protective Shield enveloped him.
Qi Chen, seeing the man’s action, conjured a pale green Protective Shield as well.
The scrawny man, whose attention was entirely on the Spirit Beast, failed to notice the actions of the two men or Feng Yuan’s behavior.
After a while, both the scrawny man and the Spirit Beast slowly fell asleep.
Seeing this, Feng Yuan altered the tune he was chanting into a song that was Ethereal and distant.
Although they couldn’t understand what Feng Yuan was singing, both people within the shield felt their hearts gradually calm.
“Soul Calming Melody...”
The refined man looked at Feng Yuan with a complex expression.
After a while, Feng Yuan stopped chanting.
Soon after, both the Spirit Beast and the scrawny man slowly awoke.
Feng Yuan placed the Spirit Beast back into the scrawny man’s arms and ran behind Qi Chen, reaching straight into his backpack.
“Hey!
What are you doing?”
Qi Chen shouted at Feng Yuan with dissatisfaction.
Feng Yuan rummaged through the bag and pulled out some Spirit Beast Food, saying,
“Borrowing Ah Mu’s food for a bit~”
“Eh!”
“Gina?”
“Go ahead and eat~”
Watching Feng Yuan hand over the Spirit Beast Food, the Spirit Beast hesitated for a moment before accepting the food from Feng Yuan and began to eat in small bites.
Seeing the Spirit Beast eating, the scrawny man exclaimed with surprise,
“Hey!
It’s finally eating something!”
“Gina...”
The Spirit Beast paused for a moment, glanced at the man, and then continued to eat in small bites.
Seeing the Spirit Beast occasionally put down its food to look back at the man behind it, Feng Yuan stroked his chin, seemingly lost in thought.
After a while, the Spirit Beast finished its food and sat blankly in the man’s arms.
Seeing this, the man asked Feng Yuan anxiously,
“What’s wrong with it now?”
“Do you plan to make it your next Beast Tamer’s contract?
You care so much for it?”
Feng Yuan looked at the man’s anxious appearance and said.
The man chuckled and replied,
“Not really, my beast-taming contracts are currently full.
It’s just that I felt so sorry for it, hehe.”
“If you’re not willing to sign a beast-taming contract with it, isn’t your concern just causing trouble?”
“Eh!
What do you mean?”
Feng Yuan gently touched the Spirit Beast and said,
“Look at it.
It’s probably got some sorrow.
You’re so concerned about it now, but what if you can’t sign a beast-taming contract with it later?
Have you considered the consequences?”
“Hey!
That can’t be!
But...
it should be able to wait for me for two years, right...
Two years!
In two years, I’ll be able to sign a new contract!”
“Do you know what potential level this Spirit Beast is?”
The man hesitated, stammering without being able to speak.
The refined gentleman walked over, patted him on the shoulder, and said,
“Hong Zhi, you might as well leave it to that junior.”
“Why!”
“He can use Soul Soothing and Soul Calming Melody, which at least ensures it won’t starve.
Plus, are you really prepared to sign a beast-taming contract with it?”
“But...”
With some reluctance, Hong Zhi placed the Spirit Beast into Feng Yuan’s arms and said,
“You must treat it well!
I will go back and find another way...
Give me your contact information!”
“I’m a student in the third year, class three.
My name is Feng Yuan.
You should be able to enter our school, right?
Maomu Secondary School, I live in the dormitory there, and my mobile number is...”
Hong Zhi noted down the information and repeatedly confirmed it with Feng Yuan before bidding the Spirit Beast goodbye reluctantly.
He then turned and continued searching for possible information in the library.
Qi Chen came over and, looking at the listless, unknown Spirit Beast, said with concern,
“How did it end up like this?”
“I don’t know.”
“Can’t you get Lorraine Tower to help check it out?”
