"Limit the power? That guy probably thinks it’s still not powerful enough."
Devil Feng Yuan glanced at Xiao Ji, curled up in Mo Ling’s embrace. He had no doubt that if it were possible, Xiao Ji would definitely try to enhance its power once again, otherwise, why would its ultimate move almost always be the devastating flames that symbolize destruction?
Xiao Ji glared at Feng Yuan discontentedly and once again entrusted Mo Ling to take good care of Xiao Ji. Devil Feng Yuan spread his pitch-black wings and flew into the sky to intercept those enemies trying to break through the air and attack Nanyu City.
"Let’s go, even though he can block some of the enemies, we cannot let our guard down."
Liu Wenli said calmly to Wei Dingwu. With a slight smile, Wei Dingwu followed Liu Wenli to meet the nearby enemies. The middle-aged man looked resigned but did not shrink back, instead, he stayed close by everyone’s side, together fighting against the enemies.
At the break of dawn, the rising sun slowly ascended, and those who had fought all night felt tired, but they could only continue to fight, slowly retreating as they fought. Now that they had retreated to the plains, without the cover of tall trees blotting out the sun, almost all they could see were the despairing figures of the enemy.
Although the soldiers of Nanyu Kingdom fought fearlessly to block those people, the number of the enemies far exceeded their own. The Legendary Level existences were also suppressed by the enemy forces. The Allied Army, leveraging their numerical advantage, had each of the Legendary Level warriors of Nanyu Kingdom surrounded and attacked by numerous Legendary Level enemies. Even with a few Legendary Level generals present, they couldn’t rescue them.
The allied forces were not without Legendary Level existences. If not for their constant hit-and-run tactics to tie down those Legendary Level generals of Nanyu Kingdom, they might have already freed their hands to sweep through the Legendary Level beings of Nanyu Kingdom.
In the sky, Devil Feng Yuan persistently attacked the flying enemies. Without using weapons, his razor-sharp claws, post-transformation, easily tore apart those enemies who dared come close. Black flames sprouted around Devil Feng Yuan with each attack, taking the forms of whips, swords, knives, or spears, repelling the enemies who dared to try surrounding him.
"That guy really is strong..."
Gasping for breath, Mo Li looked up at Devil Feng Yuan in the sky and muttered to himself. Although Feng Yuan couldn’t stop all the enemies attacking Nanyu City from the air, he substantially relieved the pressure on the city’s defense. The continuous stream of enemies wore everyone out.
Yao Yin no longer engaged directly, but rather summoned a huge and bizarre-looking Brass Warrior. Sitting on the warrior’s shoulder, Yao Yin occasionally threw out Yellow Talismans, calling down Heavenly Thunder to bombard the enemy.
The Brass Warrior swung its huge axe, attacking those daring enough to approach. A frosty blue Protective Shield protected Yao Yin and others on the Brass Warrior’s shoulder. Initially, Mo Ling thought the Protective Shield was wielded by the White Wolf Deity that looked like a little puppy following below her. However, after the Protective Shield was shattered by the combined attack of three Legendary Level enemies, and they were sent flying by the White Wolf Deity, it was then that Mo Ling and the others remembered the Frost Shell perched on the head of the White Wolf Deity.
"Indeed, with it here, the chance of success is much greater."
Leaning on Amon to recuperate, Liu Wenli was a bit overwhelmed by the prolonged combat. The assaulting enemies had momentarily reduced in number, but everyone knew it was simply because they were taking turns attacking. Guo Huai punched and sent flying a Legendary Level enemy, asking with some confusion,
"Do we really have to engage them head-on like this?"
"Otherwise, what can we do? If we let them attack Nanyu City, even the big fella won’t last."
Liu Wenli closed her eyes and spoke calmly as Guo Huai continued to fend off enemies,
"But why must we take Nanyu City with us?"
"I am not sure about that. Maybe that guy knows the reason. I trust it wouldn’t do anything without reason."
"I don’t quite understand either. The message I received was we must protect Nanyu City with our lives. Without Nanyu City, venturing out to sea would be too perilous, and finding a new foothold would become nothing more than wishful thinking." Wei Dingwu said, gasping for breath. Her Telekinetic Brown Bear noticed she was nearing her limit and gently patted Wei Dingwu, signifying she should hide behind it. The middle-aged man has by now fully rested and ran beside the White Ape to once again confront the enemies. Though he always seemed languid, he was, apart from Feng Yuan, the one who fought the longest on the battlefield.
"I am exhausted."
Feng Yuan lay atop the White Wolf Deity, speaking wearily. By noon, Feng Yuan had finally shown signs of collapsing and reverted to his original form. The White Wolf Deity did not take Feng Yuan’s place but merely carried Feng Yuan. With Feng Yuan gone, the defensive pressure on Nanyu City suddenly increased.
"I wonder if we can hold on."
Looking at the sky enveloped by various ultimate moves, Mo Li sighed softly. Although they hadn’t lost any members yet, they had reached the point where they had to rotate battle shifts with the enemies. While the Spirit Beasts could still hold on, the humans were at their limit. Feng Yuan glanced at the middle-aged man still fighting and said,
"Are you disregarding your life? Continuing to fight like this, your body might not be able to take it."
After taking a breath, the middle-aged man retorted,
"I know my own body well."
"Uncle!"
Wei Dingwu, who was taking a small break, called out to the middle-aged man. He smiled slightly and said,
"Anyway, I’ve had plenty of rest usually, so it doesn’t really matter if I work a bit harder now."
"Foolish."
Liu Wenli said calmly, now taking her rest alongside everyone else. Although she wanted to rescue Wei Dingwu, she wouldn’t really gamble with her life.
"If only the White Wolf Deity’s signature move wasn’t so conspicuous, it wouldn’t be such a hassle."
Feng Yuan, who was lying on the White Wolf Deity, yawned and said, while Yao Yin glanced at Feng Yuan without saying anything, and the phantom Agunas swished its tail and said,
"You could ask other Divine Beasts to come, like..."
"Lorraine Tower?"
"That would be too much..."
The phantom Agunas said speechlessly, but everyone was surprised and looked up at the sky. A huge Silver White Dragon was flying past. Not sure if it was mistaken as a reinforcement from the Nanyu Kingdom, the soldiers of the Allied Army attacked the Silver White Dragon in the sky.
"They could... I admire their courage."
Feng Yuan said with the look of someone enjoying the show. Guo Huai looked at the Silver White Dragon in the sky and then at Feng Yuan lying on the White Wolf Deity and suspiciously said,
"Did you have a hand in this?"
"Don’t frame me. Why would I summon Lorraine Tower for no reason? If I were to ask for someone, it’d be Gitalien. Lorraine Tower doesn’t have Spatial Transfer abilities."
"I wonder what Lorraine Tower would do~"
"They’re done for."
The phantom Agunas swished its tail and said speechlessly. It couldn’t understand why Lorraine Tower happened to pass by just then. As expected by Feng Yuan, Lorraine Tower sent a trail of Silver White dust towards those who dared to attack it. When the dust cleared, the sky was empty.
"Impressive..."
Even Liu Wenli, who was worldly and experienced, was shocked. In her knowledge, no Divine Lord could erase a group of formidable enemies with such ease as Lorraine Tower just had.
"What are you doing here?"
Sensing the unusual fluctuations, Lorraine Tower looked at the ground with confusion and noticed that Feng Yuan lying on the White Wolf Deity was somewhat odd. Feng Yuan shifted to a more comfortable position and said,
"Just experiencing battle~"
"Experiencing battle?"
Lorraine Tower didn’t believe Feng Yuan’s ridiculous claim at all, but whatever Feng Yuan wanted to do, it couldn’t control. Curious, Feng Yuan asked,
"How come you suddenly appeared here? Is something big happening?"
"Nagna seems to have run into a bit of trouble, and I was the only one available to deal with it."
"I see, and what about Gitalien? Didn’t it open a portal for you?"
"It went to the Pando Archipelago. Something abnormal happened there, and you know, it’s somewhat dangerous without someone guarding it."
Lorraine Tower spoke and then flew away with a flap of its wings, unaffected by the group of enemies that had just been annihilated.
"Pando Archipelago? Nagna? I see..."
Feng Yuan’s smile became somewhat mysterious.
