"Damn! What the hell is going on here!"
Seeing the blood-red map on the monitoring screen, Captain Yang cursed loudly. Concerned about the situation, he had specifically brought Meng Binglan to the monitoring station to check on the conditions, only to find that the situation was worse than anticipated. The blood-red colors represented energy levels that had far exceeded the detection limits of the monitoring equipment.
Moreover, this blood-red swath completely covered the entirety of Great Xia, and even some foreign regions detected due to device malfunctions appeared scarlet. However, that was not the worst part.
"What exactly are those black spots? Is there a data error?"
Captain Yang turned to Meng Binglan at his side, as the person in charge at the monitoring station was busy coordinating all members to handle and analyze this anomaly and had no time to explain.
"No, it’s more like the energy in that area has been completely devoured, putting it in a state of energy vacuum. Theoretically, this should be impossible."
Meng Binglan stated, puzzled, while Captain Yang looked at her bewilderedly and asked,
"Has someone siphoned off the energy there?"
"No, you should know, energy is akin to air, once a place is completely devoid of energy, the surrounding energy will rapidly fill it up, unless something continues to draw energy. But again, this contradicts other data."
Looking at the red map, those all were warnings of excessively high active energy. Currently detected data indicated not inert energy under forced control but highly active energy with extreme activity levels. In such an environment, Ultimate Moves sharing the same Attribute as those energies would naturally receive enhancements.
At the same time, such energies were also prone to move towards areas with lower energy. Yet, the warning of high active red energy kept rising. Meng Binglan pondered for a moment and then said,
"If it’s an energy we cannot analyze, that might be more likely."
"Unanalyzable energy?"
Captain Yang was stunned for a moment. Was there such energy? Each type of energy corresponds to an Attribute type of Spirit Beast. If there is energy unknown to mankind, doesn’t that imply there is an Attribute type of a Spirit Beast that has never been discovered by humans? How could that be possible? Even if humans haven’t explored much, wouldn’t the Divine Beasts know about it?
Humans have a good relationship with the Divine Beasts, and they naturally wouldn’t mind sharing some intelligence with humans. However, even so, they had never indicated the existence of any Attribute type undiscovered by humans. Even the newly birthed Data Lineage Spirit Beast, they had shared information with the Alliance, otherwise, how would other nations know how to harness their power?
"It’s not entirely impossible, like the power from the Netherworld, which we cannot analyze either, but we should be able to identify the power from the Netherworld though."
Meng Binglan looked confusedly at the map on the screen, where a glaring black circle covered Xinmu City, and six thick black lines extended in six directions to the edge of the screen—destination unknown.
"Has anyone been sent to check on Xinmu City?"
Meng Binglan looked at Captain Yang, who wasn’t the head, but seemed to have a favorable relationship with the head, allowing him limited access to certain non-top-secret operational information. Everyone speculated that the head of the station might be planning to let him take over eventually.
"No, the Elder Council has sent people to Frostleaf City and informed us there’s no need to send anyone to Xinmu City to check on the situation."
"But, with the situation being so critical, if we don’t send anyone..."
Meng Binglan looked doubtfully at Captain Yang. With such a serious issue, was the special duty bureau actually planning to follow the Elder Council’s order not to send anyone to check?
"It’s the order from the Elder Council, and besides, it seems the Elder Council already knew their real target was Xinmu City before the anomaly started and had already issued the order."
"Informed by the Divine Beasts? But..."
Meng Binglan was puzzled, as there seemed not to be any Divine Pact Makers present in the Elder Council, at least not publicly, and considering that it was a special department prepared for those willing to exert effort for Great Xia, it lacked a subordinate organization like an intelligence department. Logically, their information gathering speed should be much lower than that of the special duty bureau and the military.
"I’m not sure, perhaps it’s information accidentally obtained by a friend."
Captain Yang wasn’t very certain either; after all, everyone in the Elder Council was powerful, and their friends were not ordinary people either. It wasn’t strange for them to accidentally come across some information.
However, what they didn’t know was that this special black area not only covered Great Xia but also included the countries where the other six circular platforms were located. Although everyone was initially puzzled and didn’t pay much attention to the black passage, after the neighboring countries exchanged information, they were surprised to discover that the six outer circles were perfectly positioned on a ring that could cover the Divine Land Region.
Consequently, the matter directly alarmed the Alliance, and Lanadi, who was investigating in Luolga City, also received reluctant orders from the Alliance to head to the place known as Ancient City of Yellow Sand or Xinmu City for investigation.
"Keep an eye on this thing, don’t let them destroy it, I’ll go see what’s actually going on over there."
Looking at the sky, Delong Tower, who had taken the form of a young man, instructed Qi Chen, who responded with some speechlessness,
"Why call us for this matter? Wouldn’t it be better handled by the Special Duty Team?"
"I don’t want to deal with others, except him. Does that reason suffice?"
"What exactly happened? You seem a bit angry?"
Dou Yanlan looked curiously at Delong Tower. Though his face was expressionless, Dou Yanlan could still feel that he was suppressing his anger. After glancing at Dou Yanlan, Delong Tower cracked a slight smile and said,
"You observe meticulously. What do you guess is the issue?"
"Is it related to an attack incident? Or is it a foreign invasion?"
Dou Yanlan understood the duties of the Divine Beasts through Feng Yuan, such as protecting humans, which wouldn’t normally infuriate them unless excessively harsh methods were used.
"Pretty much, I estimate the entire Alliance has been alerted by now."
Looking at the dark sky, Delong Tower said coldly. He could sense the dreadful energy flowing in a direction, what exactly was he intending to do? Moreover, it seemed something peculiar had happened, otherwise He wouldn’t be so angry. Yet, why did He still feel some fear and relief?
"We’ve been underestimated."
Old Wei chuckled coldly, stretching out his right hand and clenching it into a fist. Black mist appeared out of nowhere, quickly forming a hexagonal barrier that blocked the attacks from those enemies. Xiao Ji chirped in the air, flapping its wings to stir up a storm, and Veronia waved her tiny hand, summoning Crystal Flowers that appeared from the void and then disappeared into shadows. She knew well that it wasn’t her turn to act yet.
Below, the attackers took out a strange device and aimed it at Feng Yuan and the others. Just then, a bestial roar echoed, and a tawny leopard dashed out from Ancient City of Yellow Sand toward those attackers.
"How did this guy get out?"
Old Wei rubbed his forehead with a slight frustration, lifted his hand slightly, and a black tendril quickly wrapped around the leopard, pulling it up to their position. With a wave of his hand, black shadow spears emerged behind him, pointing at those attackers, and the shadow spears stabbed towards them.
The leader of the attackers revealed a scheming smile. A barrier, gleaming like crystal, materialized in front of them. The black spears hit the barrier and were immobilized, unable to move. Old Wei revealed a small smile and said,
"I see, a device that reflects the Divine Beasts’ ultimate moves? Unfortunately, your understanding of ultimate moves is not deep enough."
With a slight lift of his hand, those spears rapidly melted into a viscous black liquid that dripped to the ground. Before they could react, the black liquid instantly transformed into slime-like creatures that charged at the attackers. The crystal-gleaming barrier couldn’t withstand for long and was soon corroded with numerous gaps by the black slimes.
"It’s time to end this."
Old Wei looked at the attackers coldly. Did they really think that having special weapons would allow them to act recklessly? At this moment, Old Wei seemed to notice something and looked toward the dark night sky, saying,
"You’ve seen enough, come out now. Did you really think we couldn’t detect you?"
