"What! How is that possible!"
Yang Hongzhi looked at Feng Yuan in shock, offering no further explanation, and pointed at Agunas as he said to Yang Hongzhi,
"If you don’t believe me, ask Agunas. Even though it is a newly born Divine Beast, it should still be aware of whether there are any Divine Beasts in a particular line, or at least have a vague sensing amongst them to know roughly how many there are."
Yang Hongzhi hesitated for a moment and then asked Agunas,
"Is what he said all true?"
Agunas glanced at Feng Yuan and nodded. Yang Hongzhi, a bit panicked, said,
"So you’re saying that there’s no way to kill it?"
"Pretty much, and now Lorraine Tower can’t use the time-space collapse on it either because it has existed for too long. If we use the time-space collapse against it again, it could destabilize the whole time-space continuum."
"No, we have to find the mastermind behind this quickly! We can’t let them release that thing!"
"But where could the other party be..."
Feng Yuan stroked his chin, deep in thought, while Yang Hongzhi after a moment suggested,
"Why don’t we blend in with those rioters? Han Mo often does that."
"Infiltrate the enemy’s ranks? I don’t want to be involved in such mind games..."
"Forget it, let’s first go to the Forest Temple to see what’s actually going on before we make any plans."
Feng Yuan spread his hands in a somewhat helpless manner, to which Yang Hongzhi nodded and said,
"Right, as of now we don’t even know what the situation is over there."
"Agunas, use your time concealment to hide Big Cat, Najia, and yourself."
"Is there a problem?"
Feng Yuan looked at Yang Hongzhi, who seemed puzzled, and said with a wry smile, remembering that he only had Xiao Hui and Xiao Hei, and his classmates also typically only had two Spirit Beasts. Yang Hongzhi scratched his head with a somewhat amused expression, saying,
"I’m so used to seeing your pile of Spirit Beasts when I come to visit you that I didn’t think there could be a problem with it."
"The main issue is that Agunas and Najia are too special. If they’re recognized, it would be troublesome. Big Cat is just incidental."
"Gina..."
Hearing what Feng Yuan said, Najia seemed somewhat crestfallen. Noticing Yang Hongzhi glaring at him, Feng Yuan realized Najia’s mood and sighed,
"I’m worried about you two getting hurt; it’s not your fault, so you shouldn’t blame yourself."
"What exactly is going on? I feel like you’ve been hiding something from me."
"You should ask it if it’s willing to tell you."
Seeing Najia shake its head at him, Yang Hongzhi sighed and said,
"You can’t tell me?"
"If you really want to know, I could tell you in private~"
Glancing at Najia, who turned its head away, not daring to look at him, Yang Hongzhi let out a long sigh and said,
"Never mind, if it doesn’t want to tell me, then let it be."
"Let’s get going then, I’ll check how to get to the Forest Temple."
As the silent pair, one human and one beast, stood by, Feng Yuan took out his phone to search for information. After a while, Feng Yuan said,
"Let’s go, just ahead there’s a bus stop where we can catch bus number 32 to the Forest Temple."
Boarding the bus, Feng Yuan smiled as he looked at the deserted streets,
"The impact caused by those guys is really huge, there’s hardly anyone on the streets~"
"It’s during school and work hours; it would be a problem if the streets were busy."
Yang Hongzhi looked at Feng Yuan somewhat speechlessly and then Feng Yuan, with a smile, said,
"I thought you hadn’t realized it~"
"Is this how you usually mess with Qi Chen as well..."
Yang Hongzhi didn’t know how to respond to Feng Yuan, who looked at Xiao Ji in his arms and laughed,
"Of course~ It’s quite fun to tease you guys now and then~"
"But Luo’an City really does have a lot of trees. No wonder it’s called the Forest City."
Looking at the tall roadside trees along the way, Feng Yuan felt a bit emotional when he suddenly waved his hand and shouted loudly,
"Uncle— we meet again—"
"It’s you guys, huh, what’s up, are you going to investigate the Forest Temple?"
"What happened to you, Uncle?"
Seeing the uncle’s somewhat haggard appearance, Feng Yuan was a bit puzzled and sighed as the uncle couldn’t help but complain,
"It’s my son, he just has to get involved with the Forest Temple business. Despite my telling him there’s nothing inside the Forest Temple, he insists that there’s an Evolution Sea within it..."
"So, he’s causing a commotion with those people? That indeed sounds troublesome. But do you know who is instigating them from behind?"
"You’re investigating this? Not to criticize, you guys, but you should stick to the school’s mission as it is; don’t be too curious, or you might get trapped like my son."
"He got trapped?"
Feng Yuan looked at the uncle somewhat strangely as he sighed, nodded, and said,
"Yes, before those people started making trouble, he said he took a mission from the school to properly investigate the Forest Temple. But to think he’d actually get mixed up with a bunch of rebels, claiming adamantly that there must be an Evolution Sea beneath the Forest Temple and telling me to take his mother and leave Luo’an City early."
"Leave Luo’an City?"
"Yeah! He believes that thing will attract a group of powerful robbers and eventually lead to the destruction of Luo’an City, so he wants us to leave early. How could something that can evolve all life possibly exist! I think he’s become obsessed!"
"As for that thing... consider it a lie for now."
"Don’t tell me you believe it too?! Let me tell you, these kinds of unrealistic things are all deceptive; don’t fall for such bluffing..."
Listening to the uncle ramble on about life advice, Feng Yuan chuckled dryly and patted Xiao Ji in his arms. Finally reaching the Forest Temple station, he hurriedly bid the uncle farewell, dragging Yang Hongzhi away as they fled.
"Phew— That uncle sure can talk."
Feng Yuan helplessly placed Xiao Ji on his head, and looking at the desolate square in front of the temple, he looked around and said,
"I don’t see anyone around, I thought those people would be gathered here."
"Shall we go inside the temple to have a look?"
"As you wish."
"Don’t you have any good ideas?"
A glance at Feng Yuan, Yang Hongzhi calmly said,
"It’s usually Han Mo who comes up with the plans; I can’t handle such complicated matters, I don’t want to think about it for now."
"Uh..."
Hearing Yang Hongzhi’s words, Feng Yuan felt somewhat helpless and sighed softly,
"I wish I had someone to give me advice too..."
"Ji—"
Seeing Xiao Ji blinking her bright eyes at him, Feng Yuan smiled and vigorously rubbed Xiao Ji’s head saying,
"Forget it, some things have to be experienced to know how to choose."
"Ji!"
Seeing Xiao Ji looking somewhat upset, Feng Yuan gently stroked her head, speaking softly as they entered the Forest Temple; amidst the solemn atmosphere, the Dreaming Dragon Baby quietly lay on Feng Yuan’s shoulder, its tail gently swinging on his back. Xiao Ji appeared unaffected, looking around curiously, while Agunas sat on Big Cat’s head, a twisted transparent Barrier enveloping them.
Feng Yuan approached a cloaked man in the middle of the temple curiously, observing him carefully. The man had cropped hair and was about Yang Hongzhi’s age, appearing to be devoutly praying for something. Noticing Feng Yuan observing him, the man slowly opened his eyes and looking at Feng Yuan said,
"Is there a problem?"
"Well... do you think a normal student would walk around the streets with so many Spirit Beasts?"
"No, it’s just that I saw someone standing here and got a bit curious."
"Could it be that my attire seems strange?"
Seeing the other person looking at him with a half-smile, Feng Yuan scratched his head and said,
"It’s not that; it’s just that the Forest Temple isn’t a Sacrificial Temple, and seeing someone praying here felt a bit odd to me."
"Not a Sacrificial Temple?"
Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, the other party thoughtfully looked at him, and scratching his head, Feng Yuan somewhat confusedly said,
"Could it be that I remembered wrong?"
"No, you didn’t."
The man looked up at the temple’s dome and sighed.
