Feng Yuan and Veronia speculate on a circle, yet they find seemingly no one stands out as the mastermind behind it all, though there could be some strange evil forces lurking in the shadows... don’t forget Agunas, the Divine Beast, governs the historical manuscripts; not everyone is like Quine, who has been scheming since a thousand years ago.
Even Quine used countries on the surface as a cover for actions underneath. The mastermind leading the Empire people and Divine Beasts to battle here remains elusive to Feng Yuan and company, as it seems almost too incredible.
Remember, when Quine was implementing actions, other nations already noticed problems with Quine, and that’s why Dou Yanlan’s father was sent to Quine. In essence, the opposition had not entirely gone unnoticed.
"The more I think, the bigger my headache becomes. Who is causing trouble here, and what is the point, anyway?"
Massaging his brow, Feng Yuan realizes that this place is indeed no ordinary complexity; previously, he had never thought he would be unable to find answers, even with Agunas flipping through historical manuscripts failing to find a clue.
"Hidden so deeply, what are they trying to do?"
Agunas’s face sinks as the mere hassle from Quine already has them ruffled, now another unknown force emerges, which is certainly not good news. If not inappropriate, Agunas would even want to gather other Divine Beasts for investigation, not believing that with so many authorities gathered, the opposing side could remain concealed.
"Hmmph, actually, I want to ask, do you know something?"
Veronia clears her throat, turns towards Tamur with curiosity, wondering whether Tamur’s unreasonable prophecy ability might reveal some clues.
Reminded by Veronia, Agunas and Feng Yuan quickly react. If Mordan Clan’s prophecy ability is exaggeration, then Tamur’s foresight could be described as incredible.
Not even mentioning Mordan Clan, even Agunas and the others cannot predict certain futures, yet Tamur can see fragments, so if Tamur can spot a clue of the mastermind...
Gently wobbling, Tamur says with a blank face
"I don’t know, this is the first time encountering such am, completely devoid of any sensation, like it simply doesn’t exist."
"However, my instincts tell me there’s definitely something behind this."
"Frankly, the feeling it gives reminds me somewhat of him."
Saying this, Tamur looks at Feng Yuan, although capable of partially foreseeing Feng Yuan-related future because Feng Yuan’s every move is interconnected with the surroundings, or rather, every action by Feng Yuan potentially causes a major environmental impact.
Despite Feng Yuan being Unique Throughout Time, to ensure future possibilities don’t deviate from reality, while traversing time, any influence caused by Feng Yuan would genuinely reflect in infinite futures.
In other words, while Tamur foresees Feng Yuan, it’s indirect observation unable to directly view Feng Yuan’s future, as he’s essentially nonexistent in future terms.
However, Feng Yuan is special, likely the only such unique existence within the world, and Tamur doesn’t think this matter is associated with Feng Yuan; that fellow wouldn’t bother hiding such a thing.
"Like me? Strange, I’m certain my powers haven’t spilled over creating other bizarre entities; how could it be... like me?"
"Wait, perhaps there’s another possibility; but, why?"
Touching his chin, Feng Yuan feels puzzled, vaguely guessing something, though it makes him more confused about why the opposition would interfere in these matters, is there some unavoidable reason?
"What about your companion?"
Veronia looks strangely at Feng Yuan, who shakes his head and says
"No, and you should know them too, although it’s odd, what’s here worth such effort from Him?"
"We know? That’s impossible, a being like you, we only know you."
"Who says, don’t forget the world itself isn’t devoid of consciousness, though unlike conventional life consciousness, He isn’t incapable of influencing the world’s operations."
Rolling his eyes, Feng Yuan speaks indignantly. Though the number of interventions is few, it isn’t completely ignored. Just like the Meteorite Spirit Beast, it’s crafted by Him, and Feng Yuan isn’t too sure what the World Will intends now, but it isn’t concerning.
World Will possesses only divinity, not full consciousness; it’s merely a collection of operating mechanisms designed to maintain world rules for the best development.
Within there are foundational restrictions, or said differently, it’s more akin to rigid artificial intelligence? At least it lacks emotions.
Absolute rationality is absolute emotionlessness, catastrophic for life but beneficial for World Will; despite inconveniences, far better than a sentimental World Will.
Due to this trait, Feng Yuan isn’t worried about incidents; Divine Beasts might be led astray by emotions, World Will certainly won’t.
"His handiwork, truly a dire predicament, with intentional disputes what’s the endpoint?"
Veronia gazes suspiciously at Feng Yuan, for the World Will is absolutely rational and won’t easily interfere with the world’s internal operations; hence, previously, this possibility escaped her mind.
However, there’s a problem: if truly it’s World Will, why create such chaos? Granted, Divine Beasts manage authorities, yet He can utilize all world rules, right?
Is there a necessity, deliberately embedding five Mythical Era artifacts here, to provoke full scale conflict between the Empire people and Divine Beasts?
Realizing potential World Will involvement, Veronia isn’t surprised He could procure those artifacts; to put it unkindly, anything from the Mythical Era remaining would be influenced by Him.
"Could it be you guessed wrong? This... doesn’t sound like World Will’s style."
Agunas, uncertain, speaks to Feng Yuan, strangely contemplating a terrifying possibility, Feng Yuan shrugs, saying
"According to Tamur’s explanation, I reckon this possibility is the highest; in this world resembling me, I can only think of Him, as for Outer ones? They’re truly incapable."
Not to look down on them, but achieving Feng Yuan’s level isn’t something ordinary can reach; Unique Throughout Time sounds simple, yet within the Chaos, how many can attain it?
This world inherently possesses low World Level; Feng Yuan hardly believes those fellows would value it, or go to great lengths for it.
"What does He want?"
With a flick of the tail, Agunas wears a perplexed look, unable to fathom World Will’s reasoning. Shrugging, Feng Yuan says
"Who knows, perhaps preparing something, but this method is distinctive, could it be expecting changes for future in this region?"
Surveying around, Feng Yuan suspects the current lack of issues is because the mutation hasn’t started.
But, precisely what transformation necessitates such arrangement? Feng Yuan remains baffled.
"This is merely a possibility."
Veronia speaks, still quite unconvinced by the notion it’s His work, Feng Yuan laughs and replies
"I’m merely raising the possibility; whether correct, I don’t know. Yet... we perused around, found nothing, so I can only think this is probable."
With a tail brush, Agunas’s face turns solemn, ultimately wearing an expression of helplessness and says
"Perhaps truly thus, otherwise no way both Tamur and I failed to grasp even a hint."
Not out of arrogance, but completely circumventing both Agunas’s and Tamur’s abilities range is nearly impossible, leaving only World Will with this capability, as its authority surpasses theirs.
Of course, it could be an Outer World intruder’s handiwork, but... there’s a defect; possessing this capability, such an intrusion could effortlessly overpower the entire world; why act like a sewer rat executing covert operations?
Hence Agunas immediately dismisses this possibility, failing to believe in such absurd entities.
Yet even Agunas struggles comprehending what World Will intends; shouldn’t direct control over rule operations suffice? Why orchestrate a major conflict here?
Could it truly be, as Feng Yuan states, massive mutation lies ahead in this region?
