Little Husky lay on Big Cat’s head, occasionally wagging its tail. Seeing Big Cat’s spirited demeanor, Feng Yuan didn’t want to dampen its mood. However... looking at these old buildings from the past, a nostalgic glance once in a while was fine, but he’d seen them quite a few times recently and was starting to get a bit tired of it. Thinking this, Feng Yuan yawned.
Big Cat, on the other hand, didn’t notice the movements of Little Husky on its head and was excitedly wandering around. Of course, it was wandering, but it didn’t say anything to Feng Yuan, so Agunas and Veronia just followed behind it, each doing their own thing.
Agunas floated in the air, looking at the book in his hands, while Veronia sat on a Rainbow Bubble playing with her cell phone. She had no interest in wandering around these kinds of places, naturally reverting to her original form was enough, walking around in human form was very tiring.
Xiao Ji looked at Big Cat with dissatisfaction. It didn’t understand why Big Cat wanted to wander around, or why Feng Yuan had to accompany it. Just that, for the time being, it couldn’t think of any place it wanted to go, otherwise it would definitely have spoken up and called Feng Yuan away.
"Hm?!"
The casually swinging tail suddenly stiffened. Little Husky looked around in surprise at a white cat sitting quietly at the street corner. The cat was squatting on a railing with the quietly flowing Hongxi River in front of it, watching the river as if the water held a tremendous allure.
Unlike stray cats, this white cat had a unique air about it. At first glance, it seemed like a gentle big sister, and Feng Yuan naturally knew this was due to its special aura. He didn’t find it too odd, but why was it here?
Shaking its tail, Little Husky jumped down from Big Cat’s head and said,
"You keep looking around; I’m going to check out what’s going on, why Belusir is here."
Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Agunas, who was reading, paused and glanced around. Belusir? That was the Divine Beast of Fate. Why would it be here? Although it didn’t have a fixed place of activity, given its nature, it shouldn’t be appearing in a human settlement.
"Belusir? Where is it?"
Putting down her phone, Veronia looked curiously at Little Husky, but he didn’t answer and instead dashed toward the white cat. Only then did they notice the white cat that seemed somewhat out of place in its surroundings.
"Does Belusir take on a cat form when it wants to find clues among humans?"
Looking to Agunas, Veronia asked, not particularly familiar with current Divine Beasts, many of which she merely knew of but didn’t understand deeply. As for Agunas, although he had only recently revived, he knew most Divine Beasts due to being in charge of the historical archives.
Nodding his head, Agunas frowned slightly and said,
"Yes, but what is it investigating here?"
Although he knew about Belusir’s information, that was all he knew. The records didn’t detail why Belusir was not close to humans, but considering its personality, it shouldn’t look down on humans, should it? After thinking for a moment, Agunas said,
"I’ll go take a look."
Soon, only Kong Qing and Pomiti were left beside Big Cat, even Little Ice Cream had followed to see the excitement. Looking at the old houses and then in the direction of the white cat, Big Cat meowed at Kong Qing, who hissed back as if agreeing to its request.
"Why do you have time to come here today?"
Little Husky asked the white cat curiously. Glancing at Little Husky, the white cat was somewhat puzzled; it didn’t recall any Divine Beast looking like that. However, seeing Agunas and Veronia following, it made a guess.
"You are... Feng Yuan?"
Sizing up Little Husky, the white cat said with some uncertainty. The voice was feminine and sounded so gentle. Flipping its tail, Little Husky said,
"Of course~ But why are you here? There shouldn’t be anything strange here."
As Little Husky said this, it looked around. To prevent any unforeseen incidents, it had specially had Agunas and the others help with the inspection, ensuring that Qiaoshui Town had no Ancient Ruins and no special hidden dangers.
Looking at the Hongxi River, the white cat Belusir sighed and said,
"Long Boduo suddenly opened a spatial channel to the River of Fate, and I’m a bit worried something unexpected might happen, so I came to have a look."
Because Long Boduo wanted to eat some snacks, Feng Yuan gave Long Boduo some cash and sent it off to find something to eat at the snack stalls. After all, he still wanted to stroll through Qiaoshui Town at night with Big Cat, and naturally didn’t have time to accompany it. The other party didn’t seem to mind, since it would be traveling with Feng Yuan after a while. Qiaoshui Town wasn’t that large; there was no need to stick together.
It had heard that many human travelers end up in various conflicts because they spend too much time together. Its vacation trip hadn’t even started, and it certainly didn’t want to encounter an accident that would end it early. Besides, for a small place like this, there was really no need for Feng Yuan to play the tour guide.
Not having seen Long Boduo, Belusir naturally didn’t think this had anything to do with Feng Yuan. After all, Long Boduo was a Ghost-type Divine Beast, and it wasn’t unusual for them to do things that seemed a bit odd to creatures from this reality.
Although it didn’t quite understand why Long Boduo would connect the Netherworld’s River of Fate with the Hongxi River, it thought probably the Ghost-type Divine Beasts were just looking for some fun again. They were used to this and even too lazy to ask about it, as long as they didn’t cause any big trouble.
It just felt a bit uneasy and came to watch. It turned out that Long Boduo was merely sending lanterns into the River of Fate. It was a little strange that the Ghost-type Divine Beast Long Boduo would be interested in the human activity of releasing lanterns, but it wasn’t a big deal.
"That..."
Wagging its tail, Little Husky looked guilty. It was his idea, and it seemed he had accidentally encroached on Belusir’s territory. But the other party shouldn’t make a big deal out of it.
"I didn’t expect you to be alarmed."
Agunas looked at Belusir in surprise. The reason why it didn’t object to Feng Yuan letting Long Boduo do this was simple—it really wasn’t a big deal. It didn’t expect to alarm Belusir. The latter looked at Agunas and then at the guilty-looking Little Husky and seemed to understand something.
"Could it be, you’re the one who told it to do that?"
The possibility wasn’t nonexistent. Belusir was also aware of the good relationship between Long Boduo and Feng Yuan. However, since it didn’t have much contact with Feng Yuan, it didn’t understand his character. Therefore, it hadn’t thought in this direction at first. Now, hearing what Agunas said and seeing Feng Yuan’s demeanor, it figured it must’ve been his suggestion.
With a light chuckle, Belusir turned to look at the Hongxi River and said,
"I was just worried... someone might be trying to alter fate. No problem, really... that’s good."
Wagging its tail, Little Husky watched Belusir without saying a word. Agunas slightly furrowed its brow and said,
"You wouldn’t allow it even if it was just an attempt to resist fate?"
Neither it nor Lorraine Tower had an absolute prohibition against those trying to change history, as long as they knew the price that had to be paid and could bear it. They rarely bothered because with the existence of the time loop, they couldn’t be sure whether those attempts were an inevitable result of time itself. But...
"It’s not like that, I have no intention of restraining anyone’s thoughts, it’s just..."
Belusir spoke calmly, its gentle and tender voice sweeping over the Hongxi River. The lantern that had floated by earlier had already entered the Netherworld’s River of Fate, and now only the lights from Qiaoshui Town’s banks illuminated the river surface.
"Trying to change fate, but it only gets worse, so, you don’t want others to look for trouble?"
Little Husky spoke up, knowing quite a bit about Belusir’s affairs, and also why Belusir was reluctant to interact with humans.
Turning to face Little Husky, Belusir sighed softly and said,
"Didn’t expect you to guess it right, indeed, I... really don’t know what to do..."
The voice was still gentle and tender, but the sadness that couldn’t be hidden moved Agunas, who didn’t quite understand what Belusir had been through.
