"That guy finally fell asleep."
Yawning, Liao Yu said tiredly, by then the Little Husky had dozed off on Big Cat’s belly, Xiao Ji nestled close to Big Cat with a somewhat unwilling expression, Little Ice Cream and Little Husky squeezed together, Pomiti got pushed to the ground and fell asleep leaning against Big Cat, while Kong Qing coiled up nearby, vigilantly surveying the surroundings.
Agunas sat on the round table reading a book, Veronia had dived into the World of Mirrors and was busy with something, leaving only the World of Mirrors bead in its place, Najia sat next to Agunas swinging her small feet and softly humming something while looking at the starry sky, Xiao Hui and Xiao Hei were squeezed together outside the camp, already deep in dreamland.
Ah Mu stood silently nearby, it wasn’t clear whether he had fallen asleep, Cotton dozed off atop Ah Mu’s canopy, Gitalien having found some liquor from somewhere, was lying on a lounge chair, taking small sips, and Long Boduo, perhaps from exhaustion, lay on the ground with eyes closed, unclear if he was resting.
With Liao Yu going to sleep, the campsite where Feng Yuan and the others were camping was left with only the campfire burning quietly.
"Uh~ I really didn’t sleep very comfortably."
The next morning, the Little Husky jumped down from Big Cat, stretched and said, Qi Chen glanced at Feng Yuan, who had reverted back to his original form, and said,
"It’s your own fault for not sleeping properly, but where do you plan to go today?"
Although Feng Yuan had rushed to make quite a few potions last night, Qi Chen estimated that those potions wouldn’t be enough to deal with the evolution needed by Little Green Snake today; at least there was still a sizable shortfall in quantity.
"Let’s go find that Ghost Shadow Doll, who knows where it has run off to."
Yawning, Feng Yuan said, Dou Yanlan looked at Feng Yuan and said,
"Do you think, could it have possibly entered the Dream Domain?"
"That...seems not impossible, and if it’s in that condition, it does seem... likely."
"But... never mind..."
Pulling out the White Jade Root, Feng Yuan seemed like he wanted to say something, but eventually gave up and put away the White Jade Root, then vigorously rubbed Xiao Ji’s head and said,
"Let’s go, time for breakfast~"
Startled by Feng Yuan’s sudden attack, the groggy Xiao Ji chirped in dissatisfaction back at Feng Yuan, who then revealed a triumphant smile and said,
"That’s for always disturbing my sleep-ins~ This is revenge~ Hey! Don’t get violent!"
Seeing Feng Yuan being chased away by Xiao Ji flapping its wings, Qi Chen said speechlessly,
"That guy is really... full of energy so early in the morning."
Dou Yanlan smiled and said,
"Isn’t that a good thing?"
"I plan to visit the Dream Domain today, do you want to come along?"
During breakfast, Feng Yuan suddenly turned to Liao Yu and asked; Liao Yu paused, looked at Feng Yuan and said,
"What are you guys going there for? Could it really be that there’s a problem?! Or is the Ghost Shadow Doll there?"
"We’re not sure for now, but we can’t rule out the possibility, though even Emperor Savidi hasn’t noticed, so it’s probably not a big deal."
Feng Yuan said with a smile, Liao Yu eyed him skeptically and after a moment’s thought said,
"I can’t give you an immediate answer to that."
He was uncertain whether he should join Feng Yuan or not, he didn’t necessarily need to be involved if Feng Yuan was going to wreak havoc on the Dream Domain, but if there was something special happening inside, maybe it was necessary to follow along after all. In any case, the Dream Domain could potentially affect reality, and it wouldn’t be quite appropriate to just hear about it from Feng Yuan afterward.
Many details might not be remembered by Feng Yuan himself, and of course, whether he would notice those details wasn’t quite certain.
Glancing at Liao Yu, Feng Yuan smiled and said...
"Well then, why don’t you just call Captain Yan now?"
"Why should I call Captain Yan? Is the matter really that dangerous?"
Looking at Feng Yuan, Liao Yu asked with some doubt, scratching his head as Feng Yuan peculiarly said,
"Aren’t you supposed to report to the higher-ups?"
"You haven’t been around long enough to know that our team leader is Captain Chen?"
Speechlessly looking at Feng Yuan, Liao Yu didn’t even know what to say to him. It wasn’t as if he had never been to their office; how could he have gotten the captain wrong? Captain Yan was the head of the main team, taking charge of Maomu City’s Special Duty Team when the general commander wasn’t present, and they were just members of one of the squads, with Captain Chen in charge of their particular squad.
"I remember, it’s just that I’ve always gone to Captain Yan before, almost forgot it~"
Feng Yuan said with a radiant smile, as the other party helplessly glanced at him. This guy really was something. And if he wasn’t mistaken, wasn’t Captain Chen friends with his high school Beast Taming teacher? Could he really forget that?
"Ah, it’s all because your whole captain and big captain thing is too confusing. Besides, isn’t it easiest to go straight to the boss?"
Feng Yuan said with a guilty look, while glancing at him, Liao Yu spoke while eating,
"At this hour, Captain Chen is probably resting. If it’s not urgent, I’ll call him later."
"But, you’re not planning to bring that little kid along, are you?"
Liao Yu asked somewhat painfully as he looked at Feng Yuan. He still had no idea who the boy belonged to, and even now, no one had reported him missing. Seeing the little boy looking at him with a wronged expression, Liao Yu turned to Feng Yuan and said,
"How are you going to explain it if something happens to him?"
"Why would I need to explain? How can I help it if he insists on coming along? Where do you think he’d run off to if I didn’t bring him?"
Feng Yuan rolled his eyes as he spoke without a word. The kid had already directly camped out here for the night. If he left him behind and went to the Dream Domain, the kid would probably wander off trying to find his own way into the Dream Domain unless someone kept an eye on him.
"Bringing him along might not be a problem, or rather, it might not necessarily be dangerous."
Gitalien said calmly from the side. He had planned on helping Kong Qing today, but he was somewhat concerned about the situation in the Dream Domain as well. Considering the current circumstances, it seemed as if something strange was meddling in the Dream Domain. Although it was Emperor Savidi’s territory, the latter was too busy to deal with it. If left unchecked, and something major happened, Gitalien would ultimately have to step in and address it.
"You’re being too casual about this. How can you be so sure nothing will happen?"
Liao Yu said with some dissatisfaction to Gitalien, who then looked at Liao Yu and said,
"Do you think an enemy capable of harming him without alerting us Divine Beasts wouldn’t get Emperor Savidi’s attention?"
"Well..."
"I’m not going with you guys. There are so many things I need to take care of at the estate. Besides, I’m not a Beastmaster who specializes in combat."
Cen Chudie said to Yang Hongzhi while looking at Feng Yuan. The latter was a celebrity in their academy, already a Beastmaster with a high rank in practical combat, and now with the status of a Divine Pact Maker, his popularity at Maomu Academy was notable. Of course, once Feng Yuan enrolled, his reputation would likely be overshadowed quickly.
Based on what she had seen, he could casually command those Divine Beasts to help, probably due to good relations. But compared to Feng Yuan, Yang Hongzhi, associated with Najia, clearly seemed weaker, as for his own combat abilities, that she couldn’t judge.
Feng Yuan himself had some mysterious powers, and she wasn’t sure what heights he could reach. Yang Hongzhi, on the other hand, was a standard, by-the-book Beastmaster, strong in his own right, but not as much as Feng Yuan, who could ensure his safety without the protection of a Beastmaster and even fight personally if needed. Yang Hongzhi probably couldn’t do that.
Noticing Cen Chudie’s gaze, Yang Hongzhi scratched his head embarrassingly. He knew her too—a top student in potion studies at their academy, different from those who specialized in combat. Although she was a Beastmaster, she was not particularly power-hungry.
"With so many Divine Beasts going, I hope he can hold out a bit longer~"
Feng Yuan said with a mischievous smile, looking at the group of Divine Beasts behind him. If the enemy was weak, they might be taken care of by Gitalien and the others at first sight. Crossing his arms in front of his chest, Gitalien swept a glance at Feng Yuan, unsure what to say to him, but Feng Yuan’s attitude reassured him a bit. At least he seemed to think the enemy wasn’t very strong, or else he wouldn’t be in the mood to make jokes.
"However, how do you plan to go to the Dream Domain? If I remember correctly, you don’t have a Spirit Beast capable of opening the gate to the Dream Domain."
Suddenly recollecting something, Liao Yu looked at Feng Yuan with suspicion.
