"Luring the tiger from the mountain? This hardly counts as luring the tiger from the mountain, saying ’attacking east while actually aiming west’ might be more precise, but... I didn’t expect the effect to be so good."
Wade flashed a slight smile and charged out of the shadows once more, launching an attack on Agunas. With a wave of its little claw, Agunas used its mighty Time Power to fling him back, then stared coldly at Wade and said,
"Given your situation, how dare you do this!"
"Don’t you know the consequences of doing this?!"
Retreating into the shadows, Wade said calmly,
"I know, but we still want to do it. The curse of loneliness upon the longevity shouldn’t be like this."
Once more he charged out from the shadows, but after consecutive fierce battles and the opponent being stronger, Wade’s injuries continued to accumulate.
"Everyone has attachments they can’t let go of; it shouldn’t end in unilateral sorrow."
"I’ve seen someone willing to exhaust all their remaining long life just to continue living a few more years with their beloved."
"I’ve seen someone unfathomably unable to endure a world without their loved one, choosing to follow them wherever they went."
"The ending shouldn’t be like this; this is our wish, even if we can’t have immortality, it shouldn’t proceed like this!"
"This shouldn’t be an issue that results in solitary sorrow!"
Black mist emanated from Wade’s body as he shouted and charged at Agunas again. Agunas clenched its claw, and the power of time finally affected Wade. Watching Wade be frozen in place for several seconds before breaking free, Agunas coldly said,
"And what are you doing now? Do you think this will make it happy?"
With a reminiscent smile, Wade replied calmly,
"If we can exchange it for an end free of grief, why be sad."
"Under normal circumstances, the energy that should support the Recorder’s Pen comes from the World Source within the Realm of the World, but since that’s not their target, what do you suppose it is?"
Veronia looked doubtfully at Feng Yuan, surprised that Wade and his group would employ an ’attacking east while aiming west’ strategy considering the World Source was the most suitable target she could think of.
"I don’t know; the World Source provides energy to all sources of space, considered the top energy source; however... due to the particularity of the Data Domain, its space source isn’t within the Realm of the World but rather inside it."
"Besides that, there’s the Temple, which while unknown, undoubtedly offers energy not weak in origin."
Feng Yuan pondered and said, not intending to interfere further with Wade’s situation, even though many Divine Beasts were temporarily sealed at their location by him, and though it is a conceptual chain, they will eventually break free.
All Divine Beasts participating or about to participate in intercepting the Realm of the World are chained and will be immobilized upon being chained.
In theory, this should trap the Divine Beasts’ actions, but Feng Yuan knew it was not possible.
If they used the Divine Beast intelligence network to command actions without revealing truths to the target, they wouldn’t fall into the chain.
There’s no choice; even Feng Yuan couldn’t impose a second restriction unless directly releasing it; otherwise, the scope of the limitation when released remains fixed.
To prevent being turned against by infinite expansion of the chain, a strict restriction during the expansion is set as Feng Yuan’s protective measure.
Although the main forces were trapped in the Realm of the World, the frequent movements of Divine Beasts still incited panic among the major Main World forces, fearing large-scale actions that might herald a catastrophe.
Moreover, the G Organization appeared to lose its sanity, causing chaos even with low casualties, demanding intervention nonetheless.
The Divine Beasts couldn’t afford to explain to humans, and to avoid being chained, those aware wouldn’t inform other Divine Beasts, only guiding them as directed.
After all, the Recorder’s Pen truly can alter world rules.
"I mean, I’ve trapped them for you; there’s no need, right?"
Looking at the weakening Wade, Feng Yuan said helplessly. Wade suddenly halted his attack on Agunas, holding his spear horizontally and breathing heavily,
"Ha, indeed, there’s no need."
"Only... I can’t do anything now, just hoping it succeeds..."
"So, you forcibly separated? Though normally okay, your case is special..."
Gazing at Wade, Feng Yuan seemed to understand, knowing Wade’s circumstances from the start, honestly surprised he’d separate from a Divine Beast, potentially the reason Agunas fell for it.
If not for the Life Sharing Contract, Wade would have been long dead.
Feng Yuan was unaware of what occurred between Wade and the Dark Divine Beast Zheranick, aware that Zheranick used the Life Sharing Contract to forcibly save him, granting Wade equally enduring life as a Divine Beast.
This isn’t without sacrifice; Wade can freely use Zheranick’s power, forming a shared life-death bond.
That’s why Wade’s G Organization wasn’t targeted by all Divine Beasts despite some discontent, due to Wade’s bond with Zheranick.
With Divine Beasts backing him and knowing Zheranick wouldn’t form life bonds with a lunatic.
Now, Feng Yuan realized Wade’s waning power; without Zheranick nearby, Wade likely used Zheranick’s remaining power.
This power enabled not only combat but sustained his life.
For in the records of the world, Wade had long since perished.
"After this action, they probably won’t tolerate us anymore, so the ending is already predestined, isn’t it?"
Wade smiled at Feng Yuan, knowing alongside Zheranick of the sole outcome, yet they didn’t intend an alteration.
Supporting each other, they reached the closest to success, unwilling to surrender despite failure leaving no opportunity.
Feng Yuan sighed, unsure what to say, Wade remained human with unpredictable thoughts, as for Zheranick...
An enigma persistently puzzled Feng Yuan: why Zheranick existed as an anomaly.
Typically, a Time Divine Beast like Lorraine Tower would have a corresponding Space Divine Beast like Gitalien, not only for companionship but because rules dictated mutual reliance.
Yet Dark Divine Beast Zheranick diverged, grasping dark attributes beyond normal.
Strangely, until now, Feng Yuan hadn’t heard of any light corresponding to the dark.
The Light Divine Beast supposedly born alongside never emerged.
Feng Yuan couldn’t grasp the reason, possibly explaining Zheranick and Wade’s progression?
He couldn’t hypothesize about events like this, unsure if a new Dark Divine Beast would appear following Zheranick’s demise.
Glancing at Xiao Ji beside him, Feng Yuan placed his hand on its folded wings. Xiao Ji tilted its head curiously at Feng Yuan.
Due to Wade and Zheranick’s history, Feng Yuan chose to assist them slightly, despite knowing ultimate failure, regardless...
"What on earth... is happening?"
Gazing at the sky swallowed by darkness, Qi Chen felt unease, ignorant of the occurrence but sensing ill omen.
"Not sure, but... Cotton detects Divine Beast presence there; what’s their aim?"
Dou Yanlan said, lightly pinching her chin, puzzling over Divine Beast motives; what is the darkness obscuring the sky, given their withdrawal from The Imperial Timeline war?
"I think we should temporarily withdraw from The Imperial Timeline."
After contemplating, Dou Yanlan suggested, no matter the Divine Beast’s intent, remaining seemed an incorrect choice, feeling the approaching unfriendly Divine Beast, lacking strength for a direct confrontation.
