"In a certain sense, this Unfrozen Spring is quite a treasure. No wonder they noted down this location."
Agunas stared at the Unfrozen Spring with an indescribable expression and said, seeing that everyone was looking at him, Agunas glanced at Feng Yuan and said
"You should know."
"Hmm, are you talking about utilizing the high purity energy here to train ice resistance? Although it can’t be said to be ineffective, the improvement for them isn’t that significant."
Feng Yuan truly understood what Agunas meant. This high-purity energy aggregate, especially one that has formed polymer with effects similar to an ultimate move, is a treasure for training corresponding resistance. However, it requires long-term practice to achieve results.
However, neither Xiao Ji nor Big Cat needs it. Ice resistance only means those effects are harder to work on them in snowy conditions, and it’s easier to escape from such states.
It doesn’t enhance fundamental abilities; regarding special effects like freezing, Xiao Ji, not to mention Divine Beasts, naturally possesses high resistance to various abnormal statuses, so while it might enhance Xiao Ji, it’s meaningless.
As for Flame Chasing Furry Dog? No Spirit Beast that emits fire would have low resistance to freezing; certainly, Flame Chasing Furry Dog is the same. Even Big Cat could use some enhancement, but Big Cat doesn’t care much about its own strength, so this extra boost seems pointless to Feng Yuan.
After all, no matter what abnormal status it is, the primary condition for it to take effect is not being much weaker than the opponent. For a newborn Spirit Beast to attempt freezing someone of Veronia’s level is evidently impossible.
Agunas flicked his tail and said
"Your point makes sense."
Even he had to admit Feng Yuan was right. At least, the Spirit Beasts around him never had the need for the Unfrozen Spring.
Gazing at the clear spring water, Feng Yuan walked slowly to Xiao Ji’s side and said
"Actually, there’s no need to worry about effects. It’s a rare sight, so taking a picture and playing in the water is nice too."
"Playing in the water? Are you serious?"
Agunas looked Feng Yuan over with surprise, not expecting him to say this. At that moment, Feng Yuan was wearing thick cotton clothes, wrapped tightly, yet still talking about playing in the Unfrozen Spring’s water?
This thing is much colder than conventional ice water.
"Of course, since we’re here, don’t you think playing in the water here would be interesting? After all, such natural environments are hard to find."
Feng Yuan smiled. Seeing Agunas’ gaze on his clothes, Feng Yuan didn’t explain further. Just like how Spirit Beasts aren’t afraid of the coldness of the Unfrozen Spring, Beastmasters, especially capable ones, aren’t afraid of it either.
Not mentioning the slow enhancement in physical quality brought by Beast Tamer’s feedback strength, just borrowing the Beast’s energy can resist these environmental factors. Feng Yuan’s clothing choice was merely a habit; he prefers living as a regular person.
Flicking his tail, Agunas said
"You play in the water yourselves."
With a chuckle, Feng Yuan didn’t insist; he trusted Xiao Ji’s ability. Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Flame Chasing Furry Dog hesitated when looking at the Unfrozen Spring. While it wasn’t afraid of the icy cold, psychologically, Flame Chasing Furry Dog didn’t like approaching such places.
Xiao Ji, however, had no such worries. Anything Feng Yuan said was right in its eyes, even if the pool felt cold.
Big Cat didn’t feel much; yesterday’s play with Xiao Ji at Ice Lotus Hot Spring made it very happy. Even if the water here was cold, if they could have the same fun as yesterday, it wouldn’t mind.
Even Kong Qing thought similarly. Having just tested its next evolution stage, it was in high spirits and didn’t mind playing wildly.
When Feng Yuan changed into a water-play summer outfit right there, Veronia said in surprise
"You’re really... well-prepared."
Donning sunglasses, Feng Yuan smiled proudly and said
"Otherwise? Want to join in and play in the water?"
"I think I’ll pass. While it’s not daunting, I don’t quite like it."
Gazing at the clear pool, Veronia said lightly. Feng Yuan didn’t insist either. If Xiao Ji and the others started having fun, it might be like the hot spring; even Tamur might join in.
The cold spring water made Xiao Ji slightly uncomfortable, but as time passed, the strange sensation became more amusing for Xiao Ji. Even Flame Chasing Furry Dog, initially averse, joined in with Xiao Ji after acclimating.
This time, Feng Yuan wasn’t keeping aside but intentionally borrowed Xiao Ji and Flame Chasing Furry Dog’s power to splash the spring water at them, creating a summer water-party illusion amid the winter chill.
Even Agunas, originally standing aside, quietly moved back near the Unfrozen Spring. Veronia glanced at Agunas, who feigned indifference, and scoffed lightly, earning a glare from him, especially since she was also inching closer to the Unfrozen Spring.
The final outcome didn’t surprise Feng Yuan. Xiao Ji and the others managed to bring Veronia back into their frenzy, though this time was even more chaotic.
Only when the sun slanted in the sky did Feng Yuan and the group come ashore, preparing to make dinner.
This time, Big Cat and the others volunteered for dinner duties. Originally, Feng Yuan thought Xiao Ji would follow him, but instead, Xiao Ji stayed with Big Cat. According to Veronia, Xiao Ji seemed interested in learning cooking skills from him.
Seeing this, Feng Yuan was delighted to relax, deciding to spend this leisurely time finishing the array patterns, so later Agunas and the others wouldn’t need to set up defenses.
Glancing at the heavy snow falling like rain outside the Spring Pure Land once more, Feng Yuan felt fortunate; at least while playing in the Unfrozen Spring, the heavy snow hadn’t started, and compared to last night’s blizzard, now it was just snowfall being somewhat substantial.
If not for the Spring Pure Land, repairing the array patterns would have been tricky now. Though with Spring Pure Land here, the waterfall-like snow was blocked outside, not affecting Feng Yuan’s work.
"It’s rather odd. Normally, the extreme weather in the Eternal Frozen Soil shouldn’t be so frequent."
Veronia noticed the snow calamity outside the Spring Pure Land and curiously said to Agunas. He flicked his tail and replied
"What are you suggesting?"
"Hmm, don’t you find it problematic? Besides the impact on environmental energy distribution from the fight, are there other possibilities? After all, unearthing five Divine Artifacts at once here surely indicates it’s not simple."
Veronia lightly hummed, not keeping secrets. Ordinary Divine Beasts might not think in this way because they didn’t experience the Mythical Era and naturally wouldn’t understand what the congregation of those Divine Artifacts implies.
Agunas looked at Veronia for a while and said
"I’ll investigate."
Earlier, he hadn’t paid much attention, especially since Divine Beasts had come to handle it; most importantly, the Eternal Frozen Soil hadn’t reported any anomalies.
Though it’s an uninhabited zone, human detection devices can monitor most such zones to some extent. Though data is scarce and sometimes inaccurate, it suffices to spot most anomalies.
According to human and Divine Beast agreements, if anomalies occur in these uninhabited zones, humans just need to notify the Divine Beasts. In such places, not only aren’t humans involved, but handling them isn’t straightforward.
Agunas hadn’t expected that without anomaly reports, the Eternal Frozen Soil harbored hidden anomalies.
Of course, this was understandable. Those devices could extract only limited information since they weren’t positioned in the Eternal Frozen Soil, which naturally produced some margin of error.
To discern an increase in extreme weather frequency in the Eternal Frozen Soil through those devices alone is clearly unrealistic.
Their knowledge of normal extreme weather values in Eternal Frozen Soil came from idle Divine Beasts having surveyed the area, accompanied by human researchers collecting data on the Eternal Frozen Soil at that time.
Even though there’s a likelihood the data has decayed over time, Agunas couldn’t help but suspect another possibility: that the Eternal Frozen Soil underwent some unknown abnormal change due to the battle.
