Chapter 2776: Chapter 2777: Night of the Frozen Tundra
The Ice Lotus Hot Spring is different from the commercial hot springs Feng Yuan and his companions visited before. There are no interesting artificial facilities here; apart from the warm spring water, there’s only a vast snowscape, which has been damaged due to the recent battle.
However, despite this, Feng Yuan and his companions feel very relaxed here. If it weren’t for this, Xiao Ji wouldn’t be chasing around and playing with the Flame Chasing Furry Dog in the hot spring pool; here, they surprisingly feel a sense of being at home.
"The big stones here are barely enough to sit on. Compared to the specially designed steps of commercial hot springs, there’s still quite a gap."
Sitting on a stone in the water, Feng Yuan smiled as he watched Xiao Ji and the Flame Chasing Furry Dog chase each other playfully, remarking that these stones were brought here from elsewhere by the Beastmasters, thus not entirely suitable.
Seated on a stone, the hot spring water only reaches just below Feng Yuan’s shoulders, far from covering his neck or even his shoulders. Yet, nonetheless, he unexpectedly likes the atmosphere of this place.
The biting cold wind is raging, and the unrepaired array patterns can’t regulate the temperature here. The wind chills the face uncomfortably, yet the body soaked in the water feels exceptionally warm, making Feng Yuan find this strange sensation quite intriguing.
"Hmm, well, that’s just how this place is. If you want comfort, you still have to go to those scenic spots."
Sitting on Rainbow Bubbles, Veronia doesn’t face this problem. Hearing Veronia’s response, Feng Yuan chuckled and said,
"That’s not necessarily true. For some reason, being here feels very comfortable and relaxing. Perhaps it’s the influence of the natural environment, it’s no wonder they spontaneously decided to renovate this place."
Even though the surrounding snowfield is a mess, revealing patches of soil due to the battle, it doesn’t affect Feng Yuan’s perception. Agunas glanced around and said,
"The surroundings have been severely damaged."
"No need to worry about that. After all, it’s the mark of time, and it’s not particularly unsightly. There’s no need to deal with them."
Predicting what Agunas wants to say, Feng Yuan spoke up. Though the entire Eternal Frozen Soil has been turned upside down, from a natural environment perspective, it actually hasn’t been affected much.
Over time, the snow cover might become a new landscape, not needing to be forcibly restored to its original state.
"Big Cat, what have you guys been busy with lately? You seem to have been occupied all the time."
Propping his hands on the stone, Feng Yuan curiously asked Big Cat beside him. The other seemed to be explaining with a murmur, and Veronia glanced at Big Cat and translated,
"It says it’s been assisting humans in renovating Data City lately, but..."
Scrutinizing Big Cat with some suspicion, Veronia said,
"Cats such as Big Cat, who are highly proficient in the Data Domain and even have special interference capabilities, are quite rare."
"Hmm, it should be a special case. After all, I didn’t do anything."
Glancing at Big Cat hesitantly, Feng Yuan remarked, Xiao Ji becoming a Divine Beast was related to him, and even Kong Qing, but... as for Big Cat, he really didn’t do anything. Feng Yuan also doesn’t understand why Big Cat is so special; could it be related to its initial evolutionary research path?
After pondering without reaching any conclusion, Feng Yuan said,
"Forget it, don’t overthink it. After all, it’s not much of a problem, so let it be."
Big Cat doesn’t pursue power, and these strange changes haven’t brought any instability, so Feng Yuan doesn’t bother to dig deeper.
Although the Ice Lotus Hot Spring makes them feel very comfortable and can soothe their tense hearts, it ultimately lacks in entertainment. Thus, Feng Yuan didn’t stay too long at the Ice Lotus Hot Spring before calling back Xiao Ji from playing with the Flame Chasing Furry Dog.
"It’s getting late, let’s go back and rest. Agunas, could you help set up a barrier so we don’t find ourselves buried in snow tomorrow morning?"
Looking up at the starless night sky, Feng Yuan reached out to catch a falling snowflake, saying, the snow had started, and Feng Yuan could feel a chill accumulating. Perhaps there would be a snowstorm tonight?
Agunas flicked its tail, throwing a book into the air. The book opened mid-air, as the green aurora enveloped the area. Looking at Feng Yuan, Agunas asked,
"Will this work?"
"Hmm... it’s nice, but won’t it be overkill?"
Though commenting so, Feng Yuan didn’t intend to let Agunas change the ultimate move. Spring Pure Land is quite a decent environment-interfering ultimate move. Though due to the unique geological environment of Eternal Frozen Soil, it can’t generate a lot of wild grass and flowers, it does make the temperature rise quickly.
However, possibly due to the suppression of Eternal Frozen Soil, the temperature doesn’t return to spring-like conditions, and still carries a thick chill. But seeing the snowflakes slowly disappearing in the sky, Feng Yuan knows he doesn’t need to worry about being buried by snow tonight.
"I’m going to rest, you guys should sleep early too~"
Patting Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan told Agunas and the others, while as for Big Cat and its group, Feng Yuan simply wished them good night; lately, the Great Cat God has been elusive, so Feng Yuan didn’t know if its routine was now nocturnal.
Agunas and the others have repaired several small wooden houses, but only one has its interior fully restored. Feng Yuan randomly chose a room in this wooden house, placed his luggage, and lay directly on the bed.
Saying it’s a small wooden house, this thing is not small at all. It’s more like a big villa, and inside there’s more than one room. Each of these rooms has a large interior space, at least enough for Xiao Ji and the Flame Chasing Furry Dog to enter without changing their sizes.
The only downside probably is that the bathrooms’ living water supply and drainage pipelines use camping equipment; for water, one needs to first store water in a tank, while for drainage, it only requires an energy supply.
Although Feng Yuan’s Beast Tamer doesn’t have the ability to create living water, fortunately Agunas and the others are here, being Divine Beasts, creating a small amount of water resources isn’t much of a problem, even if it’s not their own authority.
Energy supply is relatively simple; the energy devices here can accommodate any conventional attribute power and convert it into electrical energy, which doesn’t require help from Agunas and the others. Of course, Xiao Ji is also excluded by Feng Yuan.
There’s no other choice, as no matter how you look at it, Xiao Ji’s strength doesn’t meet the standard of a Divine Beast. One can’t tell if those conversion devices can accommodate Xiao Ji’s power characterized by a Divine Beast. If they blow up those devices, Feng Yuan will have to spend effort fixing them.
Sitting on the carpet, Xiao Ji closed its eyes. After carrying Feng Yuan for such a long time today, Xiao Ji doesn’t feel tired; instead, it’s very happy because it feels like it really helped Feng Yuan.
Perhaps because of this, it now feels a bit excited and has trouble falling asleep, whereas the Flame Chasing Furry Dog directly found a spot to lie down and sleep. Long-distance flying is not a pleasant experience for it, combined with playing with Xiao Ji in the Ice Lotus Hot Spring, it now feels very tired and just wants to rest.
The next morning, Feng Yuan woke up by himself, seeing Big Cat still asleep, hesitated for a moment, he didn’t wake it up. After washing carefully stepped out the door, a gust of cold wind blowing in his face instantly woke Feng Yuan up completely.
"As expected... the snowstorm hasn’t stopped yet."
Outside the range covered by the green aurora is a vast white, making it impossible to see the surrounding environment. The roaring cold wind suppressed by Spring Pure Land turns into a mild breeze, but the icy wind of Eternal Frozen Soil is already approaching the ultimate move of a Spirit Beast, and even Spring Pure Land can’t completely remove the bone-chilling cold.
Xiao Ji closely followed behind Feng Yuan, curiously observing the Ice Lotus Hot Spring by day. Perhaps due to the deepening chill, a light white mist rose from the hot spring pool at this moment. Yet, even with feathers blocking, Xiao Ji still felt the air was a bit cold.
"Phew, it’s really cold, but it’s okay, stuff is on me. Xiao Ji, a moment... um, can you use pure Fire Attribute power?"
Recalling Xiao Ji previously played with the Nether Fire, Feng Yuan hesitated for a bit. After using the Ascension Stone, he really hadn’t checked whether Xiao Ji could use powers of other attributes.
Normally, after the strength rises, a Divine Beast can innately use All Attributes of ultimate moves, but the potency varies.
Netherfire from the Ghost Series and Death Series certainly can’t be used for cooking. If Xiao Ji can’t use normal Fire Attribute power, Feng Yuan would have to solve the fire problem by himself.
After staring at Feng Yuan for a moment, Xiao Ji proudly slapped its chest with its wings and chirped once, hesitating, Feng Yuan said,
"Why don’t you give it a try?"
