The practical combat effects are very obvious. Xiao Ji and the others quickly familiarized themselves with the new forms, and even Xiao Ji was able to utilize the newly mastered ultimate moves to create various combinations. As for Cotton and the others, there’s no need to elaborate further.
From the initial domination to later having a fifty percent win rate, Xiao Ji witnessed firsthand how Cotton and the others rapidly increased their strength.
Although their hard power hasn’t changed, as they became more capable of flexibly using all their mastered ultimate moves, Cotton and the others quickly became Xiao Ji’s most headache-inducing adversaries. It’s troublesome; all sorts of trap methods are completely beyond what Xiao Ji can easily handle, let alone Cotton’s approach of thinking several steps ahead, making Xiao Ji feel like every battle with Cotton and the others is akin to being caught in a web, unable to take a single step forward.
Consistent with the rapid enhancement in strength are the increasing wounds on Xiao Ji and the others. There’s no way around it—practical combat operates this way. Even with the help of Veronia and the others, they still can’t constantly monitor every situation. In legendary-level battles, even Divine Beasts can’t provide timely protection if not sufficiently focused.
One can’t provide protection in advance, right? You should know that whether it’s Cotton or the Flame Chasing Furry Dog, both possess tactics that inflict harm on themselves first before dealing significant damage to the enemy, not to mention fighting desperately against the opponent’s attack in real combat isn’t an uncommon occurrence.
Protection offered solely by pre-defined rules can hardly provide correct and timely coverage; perhaps only the likes of Agunas can do so, as they truly simulate possible futures and develop rules based on potential future developments to provide protection in advance.
Of course, even so, misjudgments aren’t unheard of. Therefore, wanting to remain unscathed in legendary-level combat is a very difficult task, especially for them who are engaged in continuous battles, and Veronia and the others certainly won’t keep their full attention at all times.
Looking at the wounds covering Xiao Ji and the others, Feng Yuan can only helplessly prepare medicine for them.
Thinking of something, Feng Yuan looked at Qi Chen and the others, saying
"The situation is pretty stable now, and you have gained some combat abilities. How about considering a trip into the wild? Now that the Wild Spirit Beasts aren’t around, stealing their Spiritual Medicine won’t be discovered!"
Giving Feng Yuan an exasperated glance, Qi Chen thought seriously for a while and said
"We plan to collect Spiritual Medicine and Materials that Ah Mu and the others can use while acting in the Imperial Timeline, but... that’s easier said than done..."
Sighing, Qi Chen didn’t know how to put it into words. Although enhancing their strength has no side effects, as Beastmasters, they haven’t been able to keep up with the other’s leaps.
After contract feedback, their physical fitness and spiritual power have reached the level of Legendary Beastmasters, but... their relevant knowledge remains very scarce. After all, their skills have jumped so significantly that the things they initially studied are now of little practical use.
As for new knowledge, even Dou Yanlan can’t pursue an in-depth understanding of the knowledge related to Legendary Beastmasters far in advance, not to mention the previous stage knowledge still holds value, not merely for nurturing new Beasts, but even Ah Mu and the others occasionally need to fill in the gaps.
Fast growth in strength, although having no inherent side effects, still poses many issues, which also manifests in Xiao Ji.
However, Feng Yuan is not in a rush; his knowledge is already sufficient to cope. Furthermore, he doesn’t require Xiao Ji and the others to rapidly achieve complete combat readiness in a short time.
The dilemma for Qi Chen and the others is merely because they need the combat power of Ah Mu and the others. Feng Yuan doesn’t need this and naturally has plenty of time for Xiao Ji and the others to gradually remedy what they lack.
Qi Chen and the others feel that their learned knowledge is wholly insufficient, but time is tight, and they can’t leisurely wait for Ah Mu and the others to mature.
The comprehensive occupation of the Imperial Timeline is the next publicly recognized Ascension Stone node. To avoid being powerless in the face of crisis as they are now, they must seize every opportunity to enhance their own strength.
Hence, they are determined to venture into the Imperial Timeline. However, Spiritual Medicine and Materials are something—neither Dou Yanlan specifically studied those required for the Legendary Level and their applications.
After all, before this, who could have anticipated the emergence of something like the Ascension Stone?
"What about Spiritual Medicine and Materials? Just take everything and leave; after all, it’s not your territory. Grab them first and discuss the usage later once you’re back."
Feng Yuan glanced at Qi Chen, who seemed ready to speak, but Feng Yuan nonchalantly continued. As for the problem with extraction methods? As long as one isn’t afraid of losing potency, it’s not an issue. Apart from some special types, most Spiritual Medicine and Materials are remarkably sturdy.
More so, Spiritual Medicine and Materials usable by the Legendary Level inherently contain powerful energy. The lower the grade, the more complex the extraction method required. In contrast, the Spiritual Medicine and Materials needed by higher strength levels are generally less troublesome. As long as one isn’t afraid of potency loss, casual plucking won’t be a problem.
"Doing so will incur potency loss."
Dou Yanlan couldn’t help but speak up, and Feng Yuan shrugged, saying
"But you don’t have the time to learn how to properly extract various Spiritual Medicine and Materials, and furthermore, the Spiritual Medicine in the Imperial Timeline might differ from the Main World. You can’t go first robbing their Spiritual Medicine Studies material before collecting them, right?"
Feng Yuan casually suggested, but Dou Yanlan took it to heart, her eyes brightening as she suddenly understood.
"Indeed! The Spiritual Medicine and Materials of the Imperial Timeline might not be the same as here. Perhaps, besides occupying towns, those books are also an important target."
"That’s not necessarily true; they probably won’t destroy those things, or with Agunas around, their destruction is meaningless."
Feng Yuan shrugged and spoke. Agunas governs collections, and the collections within the Time Branch are within its jurisdiction. Even if the other side destroys those books, it doesn’t matter; as long as they once existed, Agunas can use authority to restore them.
Even though the United Army would not specifically target books everywhere, as they occupy the territories of the Eastern Alliance Empire, those collections will eventually all fall into the hands of the United Army.
Therefore, books aren’t particularly important things, at least not right now.
"You’re right. When the time comes, simply ask Agunas what precautions are needed for extracting Spiritual Medicine."
Feng Yuan clapped his hands, saying this. Agunas can forcibly consult collections, no—when they set forth, the territory of the Eastern Alliance Empire will already be in United Army’s control.
For Agunas, as long as it’s territory our side occupies, its collections can be accessed freely without restriction.
The reason Feng Yuan didn’t share his experience and understanding is wholly because the Imperial Timeline does not entirely equate to the Main World, and the Spiritual Medicine and Materials might contain some specific nuances.
This is also why Dou Yanlan thought of the books from the Imperial Timeline. These things, only records from the same timeline are relatively accurate.
"This is indeed a method, but... would it be too much trouble?"
Dou Yanlan hesitated. After all, they might not be particularly familiar with Agunas, right? To suddenly ask for its help, isn’t it...
"The Little Crocodile wouldn’t find it troublesome. After all, it’s not a difficult task for it."
Before Feng Yuan could answer, Veronia interjected. From her understanding of the Little Crocodile, it’s indeed not a challenging matter.
It’s mainly Dou Yanlan and the others, considering their good relationship with Feng Yuan, Agunas would give some face and help. But as for others?
If it doesn’t concern the bigger picture, it might not assist. Even though Agunas often involves itself in human affairs now, more so, it’s because those events impact the relationship and interests between humans and Wild Spirit Beasts.
Regarding purely internal human matters, Agunas hardly intervenes. It isn’t the Divine Beast directly close to humanity; its involvement is merely because it stands with the Wild Spirit Beasts’ side.
Lightly patting Xiao Ji’s big head that came closer, Feng Yuan said helplessly,
"You wouldn’t want to join the fun too, right? Better not, since you’ve been to the Imperial Timeline before. Moreover, this time so many chaotic forces are mixed together. The scene must be terribly chaotic."
Even without Xiao Ji expressing anything, Feng Yuan could guess what it was thinking, but Feng Yuan had no interest in Xiao Ji’s ideas.
With the big carrot of the Ascension Stone dangling in front, one doesn’t need to think to anticipate what will happen—chaos all around would be putting it mildly; who knows what crap will unfold in the bid for contributions.
If Qi Chen and the others weren’t already at Legendary strength, Feng Yuan would have advised them to give up; the occasion is too chaotic, and ensuring one’s safety isn’t easy.
Upon hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Xiao Ji instantly felt a bit disappointed. Veronia looked at Feng Yuan and chuckled softly, saying
"You actually disagree with Xiao Ji’s little wish!"
